Automatic Interest?

Haha.... Haven't been here in awhile. xD

Anyways, I think we all know that no one really remembers to go collect interest on their EC. 😋 So I'm suggesting that we have automatic interest that is directly deposited into the Strongroom.

I just thought of this so suggestions/advice/criticism really isn't a bother. Just don't be rude. xD

So I saw a slight problem. EC would grow exponentially, correct? So in theory it would become so easy to obtain (with a few trades & time) that it would become worthless.

So maybe another way to help us remember is to send a notification?

@dafni Well I'm really inactive. xD And forgetful. I would collect every time I'm online, but my brain lacks the capacity to remember such things. 😋

I agree, we should be able to automatically receive our interest automatically, but by choice. I'm all in for it. 😃

Now that you mention it, no. Because as I said, your EC would grow exponentially and EC would eventually become worthless.
But I think the new idea is that you get a reminder notification everyday to collect interest.
And if you want to spam, you can edit your preferences so you do not receive the notification. ;3

It seems hard to forget if you deposit some EC every day because you end up at the strongroom anyway.

But automatic interest would be good. Maybe it would automatically collect for the day when you log in, kind of like how EC is automatically added to your account when you log in?

I like the idea. It took me a while to get used to collecting interests first and then deposit the EC. I usually did the feeding, then deposited the EC and collect the bigger interests.

Now if you deposit/withdraw EC you can't collect interests XD So automatic interests, would be great! 😃

@poe Oh that's an even better idea. ;3 Then you'd only get EC for logging in. ^^ Then inactive people wouldn't have billions of EC automatically.

I don't really think people need or should get reminders for collecting interest. Although I'm also probably one of the only people that don't like the notifications for cave tries either. 😋

If it's a big deal to you, then you should be able to remember for yourself. Plus, we really don't need more EC on this website :/

@mairbear The cave notifications really bother me too. 😋 Someone suggested maybe having the interest added when you logged in, which would make it a bit less easy to get EC for inactive users, but I suppose newer or more active users would just log in every day... XD There's a few too many problems with this plan. I was thinking the notification could be something you can switch off in your preferences though, if you didn't want any notification spam. ^^

Ooh I like this idea of being able to switch off notifications. But discriminantly ofc. Like I should be able to keep notifications for forum pings but be able to switch off cave tries and (potentially) these interest ones 😊

definitely switch off the cave ones... either I'm ON the page, or I'm on the comp that won't handle the updated cave coding, or I have maxed my creature limit again ☹️ Just spent five minutes hunting for a notification preferences page and not finding it before popping in here to make the suggestion anyhow so I digress.

As for interest I don't mind one way or another, but the automated interest should be tied to an activity so that it's only triggered when you logon/open an eggcave page after midnight.

Personally, I like the idea of automatically collecting interest at the same time I login. I don't know if others have the same issue, I but often I'll be on the site for a long time and still forget to collect interest, especially since I don't go to the strongroom.
