{Plot}
The twolegs are gone, and the cats are left alone in a former twoleg place that was destroyed by the same storm that drove out the twolegs. Now the cats are dying being hunted down by dogs, badgers, foxes and more. In order to survive they must join together with strays and kittypets and leave the town forever.

{The time is about sun-high on a cloudy day in leaf-fall. Each cat is alone, or with your own cats for the time being.
We may begin.}

{Pathwalker}
I turned back to face Night as the she-cat lingered over Shadow's grave. Her eyes glistened, but she stayed strong despite not having eaten in almost three days.
"Night," I called warily, "Night, you have to come and eat, grieving for Shadow won't take care of your unborn kits." I meowed my tone softening, mentioning her kits always got her ready to obey-but not this time. This time she stayed rooted to the spot but had squeezed her eyes shut, digging her claws into the churned dirt.
"I don't care." She whispered her voice deathly soft. "I don't want to leave Shadow alone. Not like I did with mother." The way she said that word. Mother. It was almost like we had both been birthed by the same cat, but we hadn't and she was still two moons older than me, two moons smarter, two moons more skilled.
And what did I have? Nothing absolutely nothing but having gone through what she is at least four times before, three when I was barely old enough to walk.
"Then I'll bring you prey." I muttered, grabbing a rather scrawny rabbit off hte small collection of voles, rabbits, squirrels and birds I had managed to gather over the two days since the city had crashed down.. I knew things about gorging yourself after not eating in a few days. It never turned out good.

{Tall}
I pushed my way through the main entrance of hte tunnel, the last one I had seen any of my former family, and friends leave from. They hadn't returned, none of them, and I was beginning to worry. I knew that some of the tunnels had collapsed, but not enough for me to have to leave-it was mostly the unused tunnels, and fox-holes anyways.

Stormchaser's eyes flickered opened as she heard noises of birds chirping, and a twoleg monster starting up. She had settled down in an abandoned twoleg shed, which seemed to be used in the past by many other animals, and she decided it seemed safe. Stormchaser stirred around, trying to block out the noises, but it seemed impossible. So, she yawned and stretched, heaving herself up. Her stomach growled suddenly, and Stormchaser was soon hungry. The she-cat padded outside of the old shed and sniffed the air. She caught scents of kittypet, a few scent markings of rogues, and a vole nearby. She smiled.

Kade sat on the windowsill and stared outside into the cloudy gray sky.
"Kade!" one of his twolegs called him.
The tom looked behind him into the twoleg's eye and jumped down from the windowsill. He ran over to his twoleg, greeting him with a warm rub against his leg. Kade then sat down and looked up at his twoleg. The twoleg petted his tabby pelt and set down a bowl of kitty-pet food. Kade smiled and purred in thanks, and started munching away.

Faust sighed. He hadn't thought he would ever feel lonely. But he did now. When a great deal of tunnels had caved in, he had waited anxiously above ground with injured legs. A few heartbeats passed had passed, and not single rock moved. The reality that he had lost the life he was living and the friends he had for a second time nearly killed him.

He looked up at the clouded sky, feeling the ache again. Not only were memories of the tunnels running through his mind, but memories before that time. Memories when he had lived in a twolegplace. When he had a group of cats to call family. Where they weren't even afraid of stray dogs in their corner of the twolegplace, because that group of street cats had thrived.

Regret stung in his mind as he thought about how he couldn't handle the idea of the cats in the tunnels being killed. How he left without so much as checking for them.

His mind went through memories of hunting with Silence. Bringing back prey for Tall.

I nudged the rabbit Pathwalker had brought me. It didn't seem all that appealing to me in truth, but I ate a few bites from it nonetheless.
/Pathwalker was right, I do need to eat.\ I realized suddenly starving as the realization of the taste of the rabbit hit me fully.

{Blaze}
I stood up, shaking hte moss from my pelt as I caught sight of a strange cat standing in front of the bramble bush I used as a den.
The cat was blue-gray and rather long-limbed, but he seemed harmless-for the most part at least-and I stood up and approached him.

"Starling! Starling wake up!" I heard a little mew sound next to me. I woke to see Maple. "Starling!" She meowed. "Mama does not know how to hunt and i'm hungry!" I sighed, "Maple, the sun's not even up, can't you just drink you mother's milk?"
"But I want meat!" Maple cried. I sighed. /Well there's no way i'm going back to sleep now/ "Fine, wait by the docks with your mother. "There are no docks left after the storm, just a bit of gnarled wood." Maple meowed.
"Well then stay be the gnarled wood with your mother." I snapped. I walked accross the thunderpath and into the woods on the other side. Soon I had hunted two fat rabbits and a vole. while I was bringing the food back the scented stale fox. /I wish the twolegs were still here to hunt fox!/ I made it out of the woods and accross the thunderpath. "Here." I said, shoving the rabbits to Sas. "For you and your kits." Sas made a disgusted face. "Do I really have to eat this?" I shook my head. "No, you could starve." Without waiting for a answer I sat down and ate my vole, my back to Sas.

I rolled over at the sound of pawsteps and looked up in time to see a cat's tail leaving across the thunderpath. I didn't get a really good view but figured it was just some rogue, but then again aren't we all rogues now?
I sighed before standing up, I couldn't sleep any longer, not with the sunlight burning my eyes. So I slid out from under hte rocky overhang I used as a den and scented around for prey.

Deleted • 4 May 2014 at 9:58 PM

Stormchaser followed the scents through the forest, passing by a tall tree and a bush. She sniffed the air once again, and the scents of prey were stronger. Whipping her head around from side to side trying to find where a vole was, she padded around as lightly as she could. Stormchaser then caught sight of a small brown vole munching away on a seed. She crouched down into the hunter's crouch and took small quiet pawsteps toward the vole. The gray she-cat then leaped and unsheathed her claws, biting into the vole. Stormchaser than sat up and started to swallow the vole.

Kade finished eating, and heard his twoleg leaving the house probably to run some errands or whatever twolegs did. He padded away from the red bowl, and pounced outside of the house, to where there seemed to be a small forest surrounded by a tall fence and flowers, trees, and bushes. Kade then padded to where a small but distinct hole was in the fence, and sqeezed through. He wanted to explore the forest some more.

Suddenly, Faust was broken from his reverie by the scent and sound of another cat as he walked past a bramble bush. He turned slowly, keeping up a casual air. Faust would be ready to defend himself in a heartbeat.

"You got a name? Or are you just gonna watch me like I'm some dead cat brought back to life?" I snapped at the cat as he turned, I flicked my tail my patience waning.

I stood on the open ground letting the wind whip around me, I looked up at the clouds-already turning dark gray and promising rain.
I shrugged before bounding out off and towards the forest by the far side of the tunnel.

Faust was undaunted by the appearance of this cat and his(?) rude remark.

"I certainly do not owe you any such information." Faust replied with easy derision.

A golden orange she-cat wandered through an alleyway. She was quite young still, and completely alone in the torn up town. Her stomach grumbled, and Piper knew she needed to seek out something to eat. She looked around at the garbage in the alley as she scented the air, hoping to find something edible.

I had long since left Night by Shadow's grave and instead began to wander around the twoleg place, when by chance I stumbled into the fresh scent of a she-cat. I looked around in time to see a golden-orange pelt standing in front of a former waste-bin used by the twolegs.
"You're not gonna find anything in there, the dogs and raccoons already searched it." I called out.

{Blaze}
"Well you're on my turf, I'm pretty sure you owe me a name to say the least." I muttered.

Eating the last bit of my vole, I turned to Sas. "What do you want to do now." She meowed. I flicked my tail toward the thunderpath, "Cross the thunderpath so we are on the forest side, then follow it to the next two-leg place that is not flooded."
"You mean be kitty-pets?" sneered Maple. "No way!" I turned to the red she-kit. "You don't have to be a kitty-pet, but your mom..... thats all she knows, and I don't think shes about to change." I added in a whisper.
"I'm not leaving my kits!" Snapped Sas. She got to her paws and flicked her tail. "Maple, Smoke, come."
"But mama!" Wailed Smoke. "Starling is the only one who can hunt, without her we are as good as dead!"
"Lets go, Smoke." growled Sas. "I never said Starling wasnt coming, thats her own choice." I growled but followed Sas as she lead us across the thunderpath into the forest.

{Sas}
"So where do you plan to go?" I heard Starling's snarl, as if she where mad I had taken charge. / Who put you in chrage? Just because your the only one here who can hunt and fight does not mean anything! I have a sharper nose and ears then you!/ "Somewhere." I meowed back, "We will keep walking into the forest until we find a place to stay!"
"If you had any brains, you would know these forests will be filled with bagers and foxes." I heard Starling grumble under her breath. /nothing's perfect!/ I wanted to hiss. / And any way, can't you, the all mighty forest cat (I rolled my eyes) be able to fight off a few foxes./ I let out a snort. /Claw my love, I will never understand the ways of your cats./

I looked up at the sound of snarls, as the mouse I had been stalking ran off. I followed the sounds to find two she-cats accompanied by kits. "What are you doing?" I snapped. Running up to them. "I'd stay out of the woods, a group of cats live there and they're not the nicest." I meowed as I caught up. My fur rippled as I noticed I had interrupted an argument.

Deleted • 8 May 2014 at 1:11 AM

After the gray she-cat swallowed the vole, her ears twitched with excitement when she heard distant chatter, but ignored it. For now, she would stick to what she planned to do today - and not get distracted. Stormchaser padded around the forest, trying to find a source of water, she was thirsty, and her throat felt as though it was a dried up berry. The gray she-cat padded around more, which felt like several minutes. But, it was all worth it. Stormchaser padded up to a small stream by a twoleg house and crouched down, lapping up the trickling water.

Kade looked around, and noticed a gray she-cat by the stream. He smiled and hopped on over, not very aware that the rogue could attack.
"Hi!" Kade smiled brightly.
The she-cat lifted her head and her eyes gleamed curiously at Kade. She stood back up and stared at his blue collar which was wrapped snugly around his neck.
"Are you a kittypet?" the gray she-cat asked.
"Yes!" Kade continued to smile.
Her head tilted, as though pondering what to do with this cat. She then smiled, and nodded her head to Kade.

{Sas}
"Whats your name anyway?" I growled at the cat, wrapping my tail around my kits. "Ak! Ma!" I heard Smoke sputter. "You're getting your tail fur all in my mouth!"
"Shh!" I snapped at him, then I turned to the tom that had stopped us. "Your name?" I growled.

"Oh!" Piper jumped in surprise. She had been so engrossed in picking through the garbage in the alley, she hadn't noticed the she-cat approach.

"I just thought I should check. I mean, I was starting to get a little hungry - not that I'm not able to take care of myself - I just, er, haven't eaten recently. Yeah." She tried to explain without giving her inexperience away.

{Blaze}
"Faust?" I turned to hear a surprised voice from just up the path.
"Great another cat to have to suffer with." I snarled as the owner of the voice slid from the bushes surrounding the outside of my sleeping area. It took me a moment to recognize the cat as one I had seem around recently-the light brown one with the dark brown legs and tail. The cat flicked her tail at me clearly angered but turned back to Faust.
"Faust, I thought you were killed in the tunnel collapse." She hissed.

"That was my plan, then you chose to go this way!" I snapped at the she-cat.
"Because my kits don't want to be kitty-pets and I don't want to lose them, but I don't care now." She meowed, looking down at her kits. "There is no rouge pack now, and your only kits, Starling can't keep us all safe. Your going to have to become kitty-pets when we get to twoleg place."
"No!" Protested Smoke. "I don't want to be a kitty-pet!" Meowed Maple.
"Starling can't protect us all, if you don't become kitty-pet, you'll end up like your father!" Sas snapped. There was a quite then Maple meowed, "Mom, where is Claw?" Sas's eyes softened. "I'm sorry kits, your father... he's..dead." She meowed the last word flatly. Sas turned her head to Bat, "I'll stay the night if you say it's safe, but no longer."

After a moment of deliberation, Piper replied a little nervously, "Yes, please."

She had never been outside of the city. She never had to be before; everything she had ever needed had been here. Before the storm for a time, she had been a kit with no mother in a group of strays that looked after her. That was probably the only reason she was here now.

-------

"Tall!" Faust whipped around at the sound of her meow. Then he seemed to seize up, and instantly forgot about the ginger tom.

He didn't know what to say to her. He was ashamed that he had left without searching the place further, but one body was one too many. Even with that weighing on his mind, he was so glad to see nothing had happened to her.

{Pathwalker}
"Alright." I meowed before turning and walking off to the end of the street, then turned and waited for the she-cat to follow.

"'Tall?'" I snapped angrily. "That's all you have to say? I thought you were killed along with everyone else! And I find you again and all you say is 'Tall'!"
I wasn't sure why I was so angry, but I was, maybe because I lost my brother and mother in the tunnel collapse along with all of my friends I had made in our group, but I still didn't know why I was taking it out on him.

Stormchaser stopped lapping up the water and glanced at the kittypet again. She was quite confused why he was here, and why he decided to sneak out of his den.
"Why are you out here? Isn't your twoleg curious where you are?" the she-cat asked as she glanced at the plump gray tabby.
"Oh no, he's out right now, and he won't be back for a while," Kade smiled, "he always goes out to buy a ton of food every seven days."
The slender gray she-cat was very curious, when Stormchaser snuck out as a kittypet, her twoleg would look around in worry. Different twolegs were different. She then smiled at Kade.
"Well, I'm going to go explore the forest," Stormchaser explained, "feel free to join me if you want."
Stormchaser then padded off into the deep forest. Kade sprinted after her.

Piper stood dazed for a few heartbeats before running to catch up to Pathwalker. She hadn't had company in a long while. Well, if she considered it, it hadn't been that long. Her life was just not that long to begin with. She was hardly a grown cat. Piper hated to think about how she was so young still.

-------

Not surprisingly, Tall was furious. Her temper could be downright awful, and this was one of those times that it was. Faust had no idea how to respond to her accusations.

When she was done, he meowed, "I really am sorry."

A silent moment passed, and Faust was not one to fight. Not like this. He turned and raced off out of a deep-seated detest of confrontations.

Piper nearly had to run to keep up with the longer-legged cat, still being small herself. The twoleg-place was a maze to her.

A long-haired cat sat in the sun on an abandoned porch in a less-abandoned neighborhood, seemingly quite well off despite what had happened here. He was lazily tidying his appearance, making sure he wasn't getting matted fur. Oliver would not stand for matted fur.
