What inspires most of your egg names?

I have this odd thing, with sweets and natures [Mostly flowers].

Not a lot of names that come with sweets, and a lot of the common flower names are gone - I use the scientific ones.


I've also used names based on books.


Sometime's it a pain to get excited for a name, and it be taken.

I'm waiting for a critter that has the name I want, to die LOLOL.

It's at 0 :L

MANGAAAAAH!!!! I name most of mine after my favorite couples 😸

And I also have some plant names, names of anime characters & names of characters from regular books and a few have names which simply popped into my mind and I liked a lot (like Snowbell 😃)

Traditional names (Frank, Matthew, etc), sometimes flowers (Fuchsia, Dianthus, etc), random words (Burp, Ice, etc) and then there's always random made-up names that sound half decent. 😸

I often do a search online for names or words relating to whatever the egg is based on (such as a colour or species of animal). Although that's often time consuming and I get bored easily. xD

I'm naming my creatures after Manga/Anime/Videogame characters I like.
OR I name them after the main characters from the story that I write ('bout a third of my cove was named like that 😃)

I tend to use the scientific names of animals/plants when naming my creatures. Since the Garguaith resembled a Venus Flytrap, I named mine Dionaea.
Otherwise, I just name them after fitting words. Such as Harlequin the Jester.

I don't use any guidelines for names, I just use what I see fits. Or after things I remember that, once again, fit the creature. For example, my Mo's name is Katina. I wanted to name her something like 'Believe' after the show at SeaWorld, which was still fresh in my mind after seeing it in April, but one of the whales' name was Katina, and thus my Mo's name. My guidelines are random which is why I don't have any.😊

I know XD I always use Dionaea as my username & when I wanted to steal it, it was already taken 😊 But latin plant names are really nice, I still have a couple too, like Myosotis, Calluna, Leonurus, Avicennia, Tilia , Silene and Chamerion. Armeria is named both after a plant & a manga character, the scanlator had translated it wrongly and I was like OMG she's named after Armeria maritima 8D Which turned out to be true when I bought the official volume 😸

When I name my creatures, I will either name them after a character, a unusual colour, a random word from the Dictionary or a completely made up name. It just depends what mood I'm in! XD

Sometimes I use just weird letters put together *pokes Moonomookey* but sometimes I use other languages *pokes Pajaro_De_Oro* Other times, I use words *pokes Entertaining* or maybe song or book quotes or words *pokes 867-5309* Sometimes, fun forum stuff! *pokes -XD-* I go all over the place with my names, but they are all good to me!

Most of my creatures names are random, but here are some I really like that I have, Terrifying, Exorcist, Amdis(meaning Immortal in Latin), Capin_Feathers (xD), Hatred, Nemesis, Psychotic, Splice 😸 I am also looking for cool names like, mango and the sort. I basically don't have any guidelines 😸

I name my creatures after my brother & me.
Brother = Jashwin, Nayu, Sweetemio, etc
Me = Tanya, Tanu

And people in my life = Kartikeya. 😉

The rest are random, I guess.

Edit:
Esctacy, Rave, and Grumpi are all based on raves.
Plague is just cool.
And graffiti also inspires my names.
People's tag names like Knobs.
And Bomb means to tag and such.
But it was taken.
And I'm going to have the name Graffiti,
And Trip is usually what I sign when I draw graff.
But someone stole that name. xD

I usually pick words that relate to the pet or his/her personality, and then translate them into another language. My favorite to use is the Dead Tongue (;)), because no one speaks it anymore.
