@Ian

There would be an Other Languages section, that had forum names like

Español
Français

etc etc etc...

And these forums would be used to discuss Egg Cave with non-English speakers!
Please.
We need this.

@uzi I would really love to speak spanish in the forums but we have to think that not all the moderators may speak or understand other languages 😸

@uzi The staff might not understand other languages and if there is a topic in another language that they can't understand and it's spam, someone is begging, someone is posting a quitting topic, the topic has already been posted, etc, they wouldn't understand and couldn't close it. But then again they MIGHT not understand other languages.

@mejarry
@spirithawk

The staff could find some multilingual moderators. (moderators specifically for Other Languages?)

@uzi I don't know... It seems like a lot of work to me, just so some people can speak a different language. Say a person that only speaks Spanish holds a contest, and there's a prize, and people who don't speak Spanish can't understand and miss out. It just seems a little unfair to me. People can speak other languages in PM. That's good enough for me. Also on the forums page it says to speak English only. I don't think they're ever going to change that, just my opinion, sorry. ☹️

There is another pet site I visit which has many different language forums, and the moderator list is quite huge. Most of them are inactive and it is difficult to have that many moderators. Maybe having a Spanish forum and another popular language in this community would be beneficial, but trades, auctions, and contests should be done in English only, though.

EDIT: wow i tagged the wrong person i'm rlly dumb

@uzi

I do kinda agree with this but then I so see the downsides that people will/have been mentioning. ☹️

personally I don't speak another language, but I know people here who do and struggle to communicate well in English. and anyway, I see people posting on walls in other languages and there isn't a huge problem with it, so I don't understand why there can't be a small section of the forums for it. after all, they allow people to RP, some are really aggressive for this site in my opinion lol, but I'm straying from the point; people can be 'creative' on this site and use fantasy but people are restricted to one language? seems a bit unfair to me. (someone will probably argue with me here but o well)

they celebrate American holiday events here too, I don't understand why they shouldn't mildly support other countries. (I don't expect them to do something for every event across the world obviously, but it would make it more of a multicultural society if they allowed people to communicate freely)

I do understand that some people will disagree and say that the moderators couldn't follow it properly, understand everything, see if something is going wrong, etc etc, but I do think it should be considered. 😋

@borgore

Decisions, decisions... You can't have your cake and eat it too.

It is too much of a responsibility and gathering active moderators to operate the foreign sub-forums is just an overhaul. The EC team would need to make applications and the such. Plus, making extra pets for other events would be very difficult. People would complain if they misinterpreted a holiday (happens in another game I play), and basically I'm just running in circles. In conclusion, it would be too hard. Making a sub-forum of one or two languages would be okay for now, but for now, talking via PM and walls in another language is fine.

@hipsterism

I see what u did there.

yeah, I don't expect them to make creatures or do events for every miniature event in the worldly calendar, it'd be wayyy too much work.

I just think it's strange that wall posts and PMs can be in different languages but it's basically forbidden in the forums. seems a bit contradictory to me. /shrug/ what do I know though? 😋

@borgore

What can I say? I was a part of the EDM scene, I knew Borgore way before Decisions hahaha.

Well, I understand why that is forbidden. Many players here are younger and by limiting the language to English, the moderators have an easier time watching foul play (rule breaking), than plugging in foreign words that are sometimes slang into a translator engine. I can easily break rules by speaking in Mandarin and none of you (maybe a select few), would know what I was saying.

Furthermore, by bringing it to PMs mostly and sometimes public profile walls, the EC team can handle it better. Like I said earlier, English should be mandatory for trades, auctions, and contests. Other than that, this idea of giving another language a sub-forum is not bad, just requires work that I don't know if EC could or could not handle.
