I joined this site way back when it started, and I abandoned it around the time it updated to a new look. So, what's with all these toys? Why buy them and what do they do?

Also, how do I rename something?

@hvernon Items can be used on creatures to increase their happiness as well as a chance, that increases with item rarity, to give them additional stats. Books give views, toys clicks, and food feeds.

Renaming happens at the Town Hall. You spend 1000 ec for each rename but you are no longer restricted to just 10 renames a month.
