The Break Through (Literate RP)

You are an average pet, living in a futuristic society with your owner. You and your owner are excitedly waiting for a huge scientific break through, one that you have been waiting for. The scientists have been experimenting with a new energy source. One that is cheap, easy to produce, and averagely safe. But one day, something goes horribly wrong.

The research plant explodes, leaving almost nothing left of the city. It's no longer safe for you here. Your owners are dead, and you have no where to live. Not in the city at least.

So you must gather with your fellow animals, and leave the city. Or you can be a loner if you wish. Food is scarce, and there's hardly any clean water.

Will you have what it takes to survive?


RULES:

1. No perfect characters.
2. No godmodding.
3. Please be literate. Use puncuation and grammar and please no text chat.
4. Please only make your animal things that can be owned as pets. So no polar bears or tigers or anything like that please.
5. Me and @starling are the owners of this roleplay and have the right to kick you out. You will get two warnings if you break the rules, and will be kicked out the third time.
6. Please put chocolate in your other section if you have read the rules.
7. A maximum of two characters please.

Weather: The sky is filled with pollution!
What's Happening?: A problem having to do with the energy production occurred. There is a power outage.

Species: Umbrella Cockatoo
Personality: Ottie has a very energetic and bubbly personality. She's always trying to see the positive in things and tries her best to ignore the negative. Her left wing is partially broken and unable to be used for flight. Ottie can't fly properly therefore, and prefers to 'jump' and 'hop' around on the ground. She has been made fun of by other cockatoos because she may be flightless for her whole life. But, she doesn't take much notice in the other birds who snicker and gossip about her wing.
Appearance: Ottie looks like your average Umbrella Cockatoo. Her feathers however are more tinted with yellow and she appears to be smaller.

Personality: Briella is very shy and and closed off. She doesn't really talk unless she is spoken to and is very timid. She is a very good and loyal friend though, and loves to help out her friends when they need it.
Appearance: Briella is the size of an average dwarf rabbit, and is white with grey and caramel splotches scattered on her fur.
Other: Chocolate.

Personality: Luna is a very quiet and shy cat, but once you get to know her, she is a loyal and humble little cat. She loves to talk with friends, and she would never leave her friend's side but she is quite a sensitive cat and is very gullible at most situations.
Appearance: Luna is a grey shorthair Norwegian forest cat with white paws, chest, and muzzle. She has mystical blue eyes and a blue collar with a bell and a pendant.

Personality: Rude, stubborn, caring and sweet at others. Very curious and a bit dumb.
Appearance: White with bright green eyes and a stripe of pale orange that starts about half-way down her back, the stripe is shaped like flames and goes to the base of her tail, her entire tail is pale orange.

Personality: Low-key most of the time but love adventure, knows alot about the wild and is kind-hearted, but loves to tease.

BREAKING NEWS: Scientists have been currently experimenting with a new energy source. Scientist John Smith says they are close to figuring out a result.

Ottie curiously tilted her head as the words popped on the T.V screen. She was in her cage while her owner Cadence was resting on the couch. Cadence then stood up and walked over to Ottie's cage, which rested on a table behind the couch.
"You hear that Ottie?" her owner smiled at her as she unlocked her cage door, "soon there's going to be much more cheaper and efficent power."
Ottie chirped happyly, she wasn't exactly sure what her owner meant but whatever it was, it made her owner happy. If it made Cadence happy, it made her happy.

Appearance: Caramel is a white cat with folded ears, maple-coloured forehead and paws, green eyes, distinctive pink nose, and a collar shaped like a heart.

Luna awoke to the sound of the TV, stretching her paws to give a huge yawn. Clara, her owner, who was cooking on the kitchen bench while watching the news, noticed Luna get up and brought out the tuna. As she brought it down, the TV continued talking about how scientists are close to the results. Luna payed attention towards the TV, ignoring the fact that food was coming her way.

BREAKING NEWS: Scientists have found a shortcut towards this new energy source. Scientist John Smith suggested this experiment to succeed by Friday night. Now, for the weather...

Luna pricked up her ears, then turned to Clara, who was petting her back.
"Aren't you excited? We're going to have more efficient power in no time." Clara smiled in glee as she placed Luna's bowl in front of her.
*Clara must be so happy. There will be more entertainment for us and we'll have less electricity bills. I should be happy too.*
Luna purred, then blinked slowly. Clara gave a little chuckle, then stood up.
"I'll get back to you. I think my cupcakes are ready." She called over her shoulder.

Cole watched from the yard as his owners sat around a TV, watching something about power or some form of that. The husky tipped his head to the side as the two people jumped up and held hands smiling and shouting something.
They always got happy about the little things but it was nice nonetheless for him. He smiled brightly as they opened the door for him, gesturing for him to enter the house, which Cole obliged to no questions asked. He bounded across the back room to the living room before diving into his bed, grasping a small rabbit shaped stuffed toy and wedging it between his paws.
The house-mates of smiled at each other before they sat to speak about school, the first a woman with dark brown hair-known to Cole as Donna-mentioned something about how the school was going to close down for a few days.
The other, a blond girl-Mary-smiled brightly before scratching Cole's ears. "Just wait until John hears about that he'll flip been needing to talk to a teacher for a while." Mary said laughing.

Caramel came downstairs, tail pointing straight up and purring as she made her way down. Her owners, the long brown haired little girl-Annie-, the short black haired teenage boy-Andy- and a tall woman -Lucy-, sat around the high circular shaped table eating dinner. She glanced at her food bowl that was placed near the window sill to find her food half empty once again.
"Are you hungry, Caramel?" Annie called from the dinner table, opening the kitchen cabinet and took out a bag of cat food. "That greedy little Mug keeps stealing your food!"
Mug was a stray cat that roamed the streets Caramel currently lives in, sometimes sneaking into the household through the windows and eating Caramel's food secretly. Caramel's owners don't usually do anything about it, but sometimes they move Caramel's food bowl away from the window.

Once Annie placed pellets of cat food into Caramel's bowl, Caramel leaned down to eat, only to be stopped by the radio turned on. Ever since that incident with Mug breaking into the house through the attic, the TV needed to be repaired and instead, the family must use the radio to listen to the news. Not bothering to listen to what's happening on the radio, she continued to eat, then jumped when she heard her owners cheer in happiness.
*What's happening? Is it New Years? Christmas? Why are they so excited?*
Annie stroked Caramel's forehead as she giggled.
"They're almost done! How wonderful!" She smiled as she got up.

I was resting in my normal place on the window seat in the kitchen, taking in a deep breath to savor the smell of my wet food being warmed up in the microwave, also, I think my owner put some extra little bits of left-over fish from last night on my food. My owner, Susan, had a little TV turned on in the kitchen and she was watching the news. I was grooming my self, but I stopped when my food was put before me. I started eating, when I noticed Susan seemed happy about something going on on the TV. I didn't understand much human, but I knew something about 'new power coming soon' or something like that

{Claw}
I woke up and padded over to the screen door, meowing for someone to let me outside, but Mikey was just sitting around the TV like a lazy lump. I padded over, uninterested in what they had to say about some new kind of energy that would be coming soon. I meowed and pawed at my owner, wanting to be let out, Mikey looked at me and got the message, quickly he scratched me behind my ears before getting up and opening the door. I sped outside, looking for something to hunt. I usually catch my own food, I like it better then dry food, and that way Mikey spends less on my cat food. Its good for the both of us.

I sat in my cage, chewing on a piece of celery that my owner Lara had given me. She was watching the news, something about a more efficient power source that was soon to be released. "You hear that Bri? Soon we won't have to spend so much on the energy bills and I'll be able to spend more on me and you! Maybe we could even move out of this tiny little apartment into a bigger house.." She said, that daydream look in her eyes. I looked happily at her. A bigger house would be nice, and as long as it made Lara happy, it made me happy.

Cadence reached out her hand for Ottie to hop on. Ottie chirped with pleasure as Cadence brushed a soft hand on her back, stroking her back and careful not to touch Ottie's bad wing. Cadence smiled and Ottie ruffled her feathers.
"Now how about I get some of that new bird food I promised you?" her owner asked with a smile.
Ottie remembered Cadence talking on the phone to someone who sounded like a woman. They constantly chatted about something called a pet store and Cadence was always checking in if there were any new items coming in.
Ottie chirped with agreement. She recognized a few words that Cadence spoke, like food, water, listen and stop.
"I'll be back in a few minutes then," Cadence smiled and set down Ottie on the table, "don't cause much trouble when I'm gone!"
Cadence then grabbed her purse and walked out the front door. Ottie hopped around, wondering what to do. She saw the window which was a little above the table and climbed up the window sill. She peered out of the window.
"It looks so nice out!" she exclaimed.

Caramel looked out her window, wondering about all the changes that are going to happen to her owners and the household. She pushed aside the flower patterned curtains, then looked out to breathe in the fresh air. Unaware that somebody was watching her from outside, she started speaking to herself.
"What's going to happen to my owners? What changes will there be? I feel so confused..."

Me and Lara were just watching the news, when something came on. An alarm started blaring from the TV and a screen came on. It said that we were currently in a state of emergency, as they were experiencing some difficulties at the power plant, and something disastrous may result. I could sense Lara's tension, and it made me scared too. "We're gonna be ok Bri. We just need to be prepared." She then picked me up and put me in my cage and set me by the door. "This way I can bring you if we have to get out." She said. I was really scared. What was going happen?

I was done with my food, starting to drift off a bit when a loud alarm sounded on the TV. My human looked at the screen, worry on her face. Susan grabbed me and put me in my crate. I wondered what was going on. Are we going to the vet? I hate the vet! I thought as she put me in the car, along with a packed bag she had stuffed full of a few things before she left. "We'll be going over to Robin and Ben's house now Sas." I calmed down. Not the vet.

Suddenly, Mikey came outside and scooped me up, taking me back into the house. "I need you in here, something dangerous may happen, and I want you in my sight." He explained. I understand a bit of human, so I got the basic meaning. Something dangerous may happen, he wants to make sure I'm safe.

As Luna dozed on the couch peacefully with Clara, suddenly, an ear splitting noise caught Luna's attention.
"What's happening?" Luna meowed to herself, deaf by the sound of the alarm going off.
"We're going to be ok. Go outside, Luna, I'll go pack our stuff. We're going over to mum's place." Clara rushed towards her room swiftly and started placing her clothes in a backpack. She rushed to the kitchen and grabbed some food from the fridge, worry still reflected in her eyes. Luna dashed out of the house and onto the sidewalks where she saw other pets waiting outside with her. A few moments later, Clara got out with a suitcase and hauled Luna into the car, loading her luggage.
"Stay here, I'm going to get my phone to call mum." She called, running back in.
"No! Wait! Where are you going? Don't leave me here!"

Cole jumped up from his spot clutching the rabbit in his jaws as Mary and Donna looked at the TV screen eyes wide. Mary grabbed Cole, scooping the large dog up and carried him to the backyard before depositing the dog near the fence undoing the lock.
"We're in danger Cole, something bad's happening at the powerplant, if that happens, if somewhere starts to spark we need to run." Mary explained slapping a collar on her dog. She turned towards Donna still in the house as the woman packed things into a few duffle bags. Donna smiled over at the dog and Mary before she vanished from sight.
The husky whimpered slightly but stood at the ready and waited.
Mary smiled before ducking back into the house and she as well started gathering things up.

Caramel jumped as she heard an alarm go off. She jumped off the window sill and landed on the couch. She looked at the TV, then shrunk back in fear.
*This can't be good! I can't read human!*
She headed upstairs into Annie's room but realised she and her brother wasn't home.
"Did they know this was going to happen? Did they leave me?"
Caramel could hear the woman next door screaming, then realised something was terribly wrong.
"I've got to get out of here!" She meowed to herself, leaping onto the window sill once again and scratched on the glass. She moved on to the cat flap on the door, but the flap was locked in. She tried opening the door, pushing it forward, but the door was closed shut. Soon, she realised every escape route in the house was blocked. She whimpered on the floor, but to her relief, Lucy came running into the house and grabbed her by the scruff.
"Let's go Caramel."

Ottie's heart skipped a beat when she heard a deafening alarm blaring from the T.V. She hopped off the window sill and onto the table. She tried to make out what in the world was happening, but she could only read the word: Emergency. From what Ottie learned in her life, an 'emergency' wasn't a good thing.
She started to panic when she remembered that Cadence was out shopping. Hopefully she would return soon. Cadence always had her radio on in the car, and the radio would surely say something about the emergency if it was really urgent, right? Ottie hopped around, not knowing what to do. She calmed down after she heard the door unlocking.
"Ottie!" Cadence ran into the living room, "everything is gonna be alright. I got the bird food for you just in time to hear that alarm."
Ottie was reassured that Cadence came back in time, and brought home some of that delicious bird food. Ottie was put back in her cage so that if they had to leave, they could leave quickly.

Gender: Female
Species: Cat
Personality: A grouchy, sarcastic and sassy being. She's often very quiet though.
Appearance: Silver with brown ears, paws, tail and muzzle. Her left eye is ice-blue and her right is brown.
Other: Chocolate. She doesn't have a set owner, but instead lives with around 3 families, staying with one group for a few days at a time before heading to the next.

Cole flattened his ears as the neighbors house started blaring a warning as well. He pawed at the ground gouging the spot where he sat after a while.
His ears hurt and the blaring only seemed to increase. He squeezed his eyes shut and crouched down by the gate the rabbit clenched in his jaws.

Suddenly Lara ran over to get me. She picked up my cage and we headed out the door. She put we in the car and started to drive. "We're gonna go to dad's." I was worried. We were just getting out of the car when a deafening blast rang through my ears. With that, the world went dark.

Luna scratched on the car window, calling out her owner's name.
"Clara! Where are you? Please let me out!" She meowed as loud as she can, her sharp claws digging into the car seat in fear. Something is going to happen, and they don't run away, they'll be killed. Finally, after a few minutes, Clara reappeared with yet another bag and a phone in her hand. She opened the door and almost instantly, the terrible stench of smoke filled the car. She pulled herself in and shut the door, turning on the air conditioner to keep the smoke out.
"Mum's place is quite far, but we'll make it there in half an hour. We'll be safe there."
With that, Clara turned on the engine and drove off, speeding as fast as she can through the drive way. Luna knew that Clara didn't really care about breaking road rules, she just wanted to get herself and Luna to safety. Suddenly, a blast came from behind them, then the clouds went black. The cars that were once behind them disappeared with no explanation. Clara sped up even more, then noticed the sky turn a muddy green.
"Is that a good sign?" Luna hissed to herself, lowering down in fear.

Ottie rested in her cage as Cadence was preparing what smelled like hot chocolate. She knew that whenever Cadence was nervous or upset she made herself hot chocolate. Her owner then sat on the couch and turned on the T.V as she sipped her hot chocolate. Ottie looked at the window to outside. The sky had a turned to a sickening green. She sighed. Just as she was about to chirp for Cadence, the power flicked off. It was pitch black.

A horrid squealing sound sounded from inside the house and Cole leapt up and charged slamming into the glass door. It was pitch black inside and he couldn't hear Mary nor Donna.
He scraped at the door before heading back to the gate and pawing it open. Other houses lay dark and blank, and from one not too far off he spotted smoke rising up from it.
