The overall gist of the ancient story/tale and the way the creature holds its leaf reminds me very much of the Pokemon Floette and the particular old tale in Pokemon X/Y of the king AZ and his Floette: http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/AZ

Still, it is not often that I see a snake blessed with or born of faerie powers. Nice name too.
