An idea I had that would make my time on this site easier is if we had the option to block the images of specific creatures. As someone with severe arachnophobia, seeing creatures like Spidets, Gantulas, and Cachnids is very anxiety-inducing to me. It would be really nice if there was a way to not have to see those pictures all the time, to be able to block the images for certain species.

@fairfaxians I'm so sorry, but I don't like this idea. I actually don't see much sense/point in it. It's not just because I am not "arachnophobic", for example (I love all kind of bugs, insects, arachnid and well, every animal, not only arthropodas). I do have a phobia, not related to animals even though it does sometimes, but I still don't see the point of blocking certain types of species.

It would be an unuseful waste of time/work (in my opinion) to apply this in site. I mean, for example, you can like spiders or you cannot like; you can have them or you cannot have, if you don't want; but why "you can see or you cannot see if you don't want"?

If this comes up, it opens space to religious debates too. For example: the "A" animal is sacred to someone's religion, but the "B" animal is "cursed" (just an example).

And it would/could interfere in views/clicks/feeds stats. I mean, no arachnid creatures would receive stats from you and from those who "select" they don't wanna see those creatures.

Maybe everything I said above is confuse/nonsense/ridiculous/unuseful/wrong, I don't know if I expressed myself very well. But I'm sure other people will feel the same as you and support you.

@fairfaxians I kind of agree with @raitonchidori in some ways. Phobias are legitimate, but overall I don't see this as being necessary for the site as a whole. And if it's any consolation, there are relatively few spider-like creatures to worry about.

While I don't think it would get to religious/cultural applications necessarily (at least, I have not seen any religious argumentation on this site so far to assume that it would), I just don't think this is heavily needed by everyone. I can see the appeal if you have a phobia, but I'm afraid that group is rather small.. :/

@lenamilove I just said it could open space to this kind of debates. I didn't have seen any phobias argumentation until now, as well.

@fairfaxians Unfortunately Ihave to agree with everything @raitonchidori said. I have a phobia (not animal related), but I don't see the point of blocking my phobia related images on the Internet. Than why block certain animal related images on this site?
