*sorry if there was already one like this*

its annoying me and I'm sure its gotten to you too. -.-'

how many accounts does eggcave have? 34,000? well i bet you more than half of those are abandoned. its the newbies too. they stay for a day, or a week, and then leave. never to be seen again.

well maybe, when an account is abandoned, and only after the last creature dies in the cove, then the account has *for example* a full month to revive their account or it will be deleted?
other ideas:
have an email warning how long you have

im not sure why, but they annoy me, like i guess it makes egg cave feel crowded with the dead o_o
feedback? 😊

maybe, but some people have come back after a long time, and that would be slightly unfair.

@decks123456 Some sites purge accounts after 18 months of inacitivity. I think a reasonable amount like that will enable the owner to check in on the account when they want, without it being deleted if they still have some stake in it.

@meixiaotian i don't think it would be unfair, they could always make a new one, and *like me* xP if I'm away from a game too long, i usually forget my password and end up making a new one anyway.

why would it matter if they need to make a new account? nothing would change, besides how long theyv had the account. 😊

@ellysian that would be good. 😋 but why would someone need to check in if they have no alive creatures?

@decks123456

LOL, some accounts have rares, while others have junks 😋 Yes, I think it is unfair...

maybe they could send an email saying your account is going to be deleted, then, you could remember. I only remembered when a v. 2 email was sent to me

You do realise that some of them are side/storage accounts as well?

And then, there are also those fishy/false accounts that are created to steal more eggs...

@icymuffin
why would anyone need a storage if they'r not going to keep anything in it? 😋

@decks123456

To reserve the name until they actually need to use the storage.

@decks123456 Yeah, people with a good account name might wish to stay on incase they decide to rejoin. Plus, some of them might have pets that can't die. I'm new so I don't exaclty know what that entails, but from what I've learnt, established creatures don't die? Also, they might have old or new friends.

The email thing is a good idea, but players also need the right to opt out of being emailed by the site, by law.

they could always put something in it like lv 2000 so they don't have to feed it, and they could keep the name.

@meixiaotian
edit* that would be a good idea 😋

@elysian
i just thought of that... lv 2000 and up can't die. :/

@decks123456 - Indeed, so which is why I refer to the 18 month inactivity purge. It'd free up spare names, but might be a hassle for people who are searching for a long-lost adoptable of theirs. I guess if you keep inactive accounts the only harm it does is give off slightly false statistics. The activity of the actual site and forums do give you the impression that this is an active site (and it is).

But the names won't be freed up. Yet, people would probably complain if after a period of time, their account got deleted. I guess no matter what scenario you put yourself in, someone is going to lose.

there are some users that can't stand having an abandoned accounts creature with a name they want. theres been trouble with that too, but I'm not sure id like having to wait 18 months for a name i really want... i could live with it though...
eggcave has only been here for about 2 years, maybe 12 months?

(i didn't realize there would be so many issues with this XD

Well, if it's been here for 2 years, 18 months is a year and a half. So it'd mean if they begun the process now, the accounts who didn't log in from month 6 would be wiped. Which means that accounts who signed up right at the beginning would be wiped, which means no waiting.

i guess... but with v2 out now, you never know if ian would make them start over from when v2 was released, or get wiped immediately from when they were abandoned in v1

sort of like the revive idea. *i think* what he said was that only creatures that died in v2 could possibly be revived, and any that died in v1 are gone forever...

gtg night 😃
