@fakeworld May I post 2 poems? 😊

A Scarred Doll

He built a doll of porcelain and tears, toiling slowly with a passion for perfection
He carved out the eyes with a sword and a scroll, coaxing out a crafty, confident gaze
He smoothed out the limbs with sandpaper and scraps, polishing the creme colored fingernails and rosy joints
He painted a face of serenity on the soft features of the face, crimson lips and smoldering black eyes
He brushed out the hair and smoothed out the creases in the dress, a vivid silk hanbok and soft satin slippers
Santa placed the doll in a neat little box for the child to admire on Christmas Day

Why did you have to pull out the hair and rip it up into unruly shreds?
Why did you chop up the silk dress and satin slippers into sorry scraps of minced fabric?
Why did you take your hammer and smash up the crimson lips and leave a red stain on the shattered glass?
Why did you poke out the crafty eyes and leave empty craters in the heart?
Why did you grind the limbs up into dust and corrode them with cyanide?
Why do I need to start over because of your black jealousy?

The eyes are filled with a cheap clay and wood
The limbs are replaced with wood and chipped paint
The lips are sealed with a pale kiss and hidden red
The shattered heart is never replaced
The doll must make do with the snow stained ragged cloth for covering
The doll must make do with the cracks and scars

Krampus
He comes to visit on Christmas Eve
Down the sooty chimney
And eyes the cookies, grinning with glee
At the table top
He opens the door with a great surprise
In front of your warm room
A small little present containing a fantastical prize
Beneath your snuggly bed

You open the present; Was I a good child, Santa?
No, you realize, as the box proceeds to explode

*drops off a short story*

Christmas on the Chimera

“Come on, Del! Sasha and Ten are back with the tree!” Mae’s excited voice jolted Del out of her book.

“Tree? What tree?”

“The Christmas tree of course.” A smile spread across Mae’s face. “Now come on, let’s go help decorate the cargo hold!”
Del set aside her book to follow the bouncing red-head down to the cargo hold. Was it Christmas time already? It was so easy to lose track of time when you weren’t on a planet with a day/night cycle.

As the two neared the hold Christmas carols could be heard drifting down the hall. Del picked up her pace, racing ahead of Mae, Christmas was her second favorite holiday. Del reached the upper level of the hold, leaned out over the railing and grinned at the sight below. Sasha and Ten’sey were setting up a large pine tree in the center of the hold. As she watched she saw Adam enter the hold pushing a box in front of him. Del raced down the stairs to help him.

“This time of year again?” A morose voice cut through the carols and decorating. Del looked up to see Xanlea coming in from outside the ship, snow stuck in his fur.

Mae crept up behind him and stuck a Santa hat over one horn, causing him to growl and playfully swat at her. Mae danced away, laughing.

“Are you going to be our fluffy Santa?” Del asked as she quickly snapped a picture of Xanlea in the hat. The picture would make for excellent blackmail later.

“Pfft. Xan, Santa? No, he is Scrooge, Krampus at best. It is Santa Sasha who gives presents to all the good children.” Sasha thumped himself on the chest.

The thought of the burly Russian in a Santa suit sent Del into a fit of giggles so hard that she collapsed onto the floor.

Xanlea snorted, a corner of his mouth twitched upwards into a smile as he watched Del try to compose herself. “Bah humbug. Doesn’t Krampus drag off those who’ve been naughty?” He took a step towards Del, his tail flicking like a cat about to pounce. “Well I know someone who’s been very naughty.”

Del squealed and scrambled across the floor as Xanlea began to chase after her. The sight caused the rest of the crew to laugh, filling the hold with merriment, as they resumed decorating the the Chimera for Christmas time.

I'm kind of big on history, so I threw some in. The WW1 Christmas Truce was a real occurrence, a pretty inspiring one too. I threw in an additional poem because it popped into my head, and why not.

@fakeworld

Edit: Sorry, I didn't remember center align making the post look so big.. oops.

The Christmas Truce

Winter is not the most wonderful weather

Sadness and famine ravage our lands

But during this season, reminds everyone

There is relief if we just join our hands.

Lay aside politics, worry, and stress,

Let our grudges fade off and go into rest.

Brother to brother, country to country,

It is time for to forgive and forget.

A time of peace for all nations involved;

To many, this comes as a laughable plea.

Let us not forget that it's happened before:

The first world war's truce on Christmas Eve.

Soldiers saw the approaching day,

And from their trenches crawled out.

Despite the slaughtering that had went on for months,

"Live and let live" was their proud shout.

Reclaiming the bodies, sharing supplies,

A ceasefire spread over blood-soaked Europe.

Ironically sent to take each other's lives,

That week they refused to do it.

True, there was no Christmas tree,

No Santa Claus on the battlefield,

But I believe it stands to say

Peace is what the spirit of Christmas is.

~~~
Let the bullets lose their wings.
If every Christmas around the globe
We let the bullets lose their wings,
There'd be one less day of kids like myself,
Sitting and anxiously watching TV.
"Can Santa Claus bring daddy home?"
But we all know the truth.
I suppose I should say that Christmas is very different,
When your parent is one of the troops.
The old Roo
A little spark from the snow,
A red flash that turned very dull,
Low in color,
Not moving just glowing,
Weak it rose before my eyes,
Rudolph the Roo,
How could it be?
He rose as snow slipped off his frozen body,
He snorted slightly,
And off fell snow from his antlers,
He stumbled and fell,
Tripped and failed,
But finally,
Almost as if Christmas spirit ENLIGHTENED him,
HIs nose and eyes filled with color,
He neighed a jolly neigh,
Rose onto his hind legs,
And took off into the sky,
Golden magic shortly behind,
Motjaa's rejoice
Up and up,
Into the Santa sleigh.
a haiku on Christmas:
Christmas is a
day for Santa but really
about family
and another poem for good measure😊 :
the older you get
the more you realize
the gifts yearned after on Christmas
are gifts unable to be brought
in Santa's sleigh
@fakeworld
This is kinda late...Sorry 😸 (just making the deadline xD)
*let the writing commence* 😸
I know you want to forget,
Those demons,
And with them,
Those angels,
The sins,
The quiet,
The pain.
I know that for the bad to fade away,
The good fall as well.
But forever I will wonder.
Don't you remember those Christmases?
When we hid,
Huddled together,
Under the sparkling tree,
Waiting for Santa,
Never actually seeing him?
Remember those snowflakes,
That we strained to catch,
As the first snow settled?
But I know what you wished for,
Would wash those away.
It's a bit short >< ...Meh 😋
@fakeworld I'm glad you liked it, I was hoping it wasn't too odd! I had another verse, but I deleted it since it seemed too long to me, haha. Thank you very much, and a belated Merry Christmas.
