Possible bug in Asteroid Plot?

I was playing the Asteroid Plot when I decided to start training my Pekkin. However, when I entered a battle with my Pekkin, the attack menu looked like this:

Is this supposed to happen, or this is a bug? Thanks!

I thought it was bug at first too. However, whenever you do a move with Unknown creature, it is assigned a random element and therefore interface doesn't show the move name, just their type.

It makes interface look a bit wacky but other that that it's intended.
