Badgerpelt turned to the sound of his name. He made his way to the leader den, wondering why he was called. "Yes, Miststar?"

Frostpaw shifted from paw to paw, excited that Badgerpelt had been chosen. Maybe now she could meet the new cat. Still, Frostpaw sat patiently.

Miststar nodded as Badgerpelt approached. "I was hoping you could serve as a temporary mentor for this young cat. She hopes to join our Clan, although I'd prefer she sees how everything flows first. Do you think you can help?" Miststar asked.

She pounced, her claws springing out. The rabbit squealed in terror and tried to escape back into its burrow. Dawnfox dug in her claws, her hind-paws scrabbling on the peaty ground. She jerked her paws back, and the rabbit was forced out the burrow, and into the open. Before the rabbit could react, she reached forward and delivered the killing bite.

She pushed back on her hind-paws, shaking bloody scraps of fur from her claws. Grabbing the rabbit's ruff in her teeth, she dragged it over to a neighboring oak, and buried it for her to collect later.

Dawnfox turned her head at a flicker of movement in the corner of her eye. A fluffy tail disappeared up the trunk of a tree. Squirrel.

"Of course! It'd be my pleasure." Badgerpelt turned to the young cat. "Come with me. We'll head over to the medicine den first for a quick check up. Then I can give you a tour of camp." He motioned for Shadow to follow with his tail as he turned to leave.

Too impatient to wait, Frostpaw decided to do something else. She scampered over to the fresh kill pile and grabbed a shrew. Frostpaw hoped that by the time she finished it, she could finally meet the new cat.

Shadow nodded and followed Badgerpelt. "Thank you." She said still feeling a little nervous.

Flamestorm nodded and left to go to her own den and rest. She layed down and began to sleep.

Suncloud went into the medicine cat's den and putted down the herbs. She spotted badgerpelt and a strange kit with him.
"who's this?" Suncloud asked while coming out of the den.

As they made their way to the medicine den, Badgerpelt realized he didn't know the cat's name. "So, what's your name and what brought you to MapleClan? Sorry if I'm being nosey. You don't have to answer the second part." He added quickly and gave a friendly smile.

"Well.." She said quietly. "I'm Shadow and... My parents died when I was young, then another loner cared for me up until a few moons ago, then she abandoned me. I lived alone and longed to come here. I worked up courage and here I am." she flicked her tail.

Drippaw laid down the herbs gently and walked out of the den. His pelt was matted with mud, but he was going to clean himself later. Drippaw saw a new face and wandered over quietly. The she-cat seemed too old to kit to him so he assumed that she was older than six moons at least. He didn't try to rudely interrupt them so he remained quiet.

Badgerpelt nodded, "Well nice to meet you." He turned to Suncloud. "This is Suncloud. She's the clan's medicine cat. Suncloud will give you a quick check up to make sure you aren't bringing any sickness into the clan."

Shadow nodded and walked to suncloud, sitting down and wrapping her long tail around her. "I don't think I have a sickness." She said quietly.

Dawnfox quickly ran into the shade of the tree where she had seen the squirrel disappeared. She scaled the tree without trouble and peeked around the trunk. The squirrel was busily gnawing on a nut, unawares. She knew it was dangerous to hunt in trees, but she was a forest-born cat, and her mother had taught her how.

Dawnfox scooted up the tree a bit more being careful not to rustle any leaves. She stepped out onto a limb, now above the squirrel. The squirrel stopped moving for a minute as if it had sensed her. She dropped from the branch and onto the limb, deftly slamming a paw down on the squirrel.

When she made her way down she practically tripped over a mouse who was digging for seeds at the root of the tree. Prey is plentiful... She thought as she gathered her prey. ..at least for now.

Suncloud sniffed Shadow and putted a paw on her chest. Shadow seems to be fine, no sickness found. "I think Shadow is fine, Badgerpelt. " Suncloud announced the results

The rabbit was very heavy, and it took longer than she would have liked to lug it back to camp. She deposited it on the fresh-kill pile, a shiver of satisfaction shivering down her spine. Dawnfox headed back out of camp to collect the rest of her prey.

Dream limped towards the clan. She found it one day when she was chasing a hawk. It looked friendly enough but she wasn't too sure when she was young. Yesterday she had been scratched by a hawk while trying to kill it for food. It has been days since she had had a full three meal. She sighed as she continuted to limp twards the clan. She was just close to it when she saw a gray white kit, younger then she was with multicolored eyes. She spotted a rabbit on leash and with suprising agility, she leaped for it thinking about a good meal she can make out of it.

Flowerkit slipped out of the nusery when she spotted some mice. She killed them and deposited in the fresh kill pile, then she went to the border to find somthing intresting. She found a small sleeping rabbit that she had prodded for fun, finding a small leash so the rabbit won't escape. She was going to ask dad to keep the rabbit and not eat it when she saw a gray tabby limping towards her. When the blue purple eyes settled on something she didn't understand at first until she leaped towards the rabbit. She quickly pulled it towards her so it won't get caught.

Dawnfox was trotting back to the camp, when a familiar scent stopped her in her tracks. Flowerkit... She had passed by here recently. She hurriedly buried her prey, and followed the scent back through the trees.

Dream looked at Flowerkit. "Could you give me some food if you are so attached to the little rabbit." She asked gently. She thought of being mean but that won;t work to give her even a bit of food.

Flowerkit was confused by the sudden change of attitude given by the older kit. She nodded, pointing to follow her as she smiled again while patting the poor rabbit. She was getting closer to the freash kill place when she saw Dawnfox. "Hi." She said happily hoping the reaction wasn't too cold seeing the strange unfamiliar kit.

Wolfwind stepped out of camp as things calmed down again. She trekked through a small path in the forest that smelled strongly of squirrel and paused as she spotted Flowerkit and a stranger. Defensive, Wolfwind jumped through the bracken nearby, her fur puffed up and a snarl embedded on her face.

"What is your business in taking MapleClan prey?" Wolfwind demanded.

"Nothing, I'm just starving." Dream said calmly with an edge to her tone. She got ready to fight, crouching low on the ground, ready to spring up. She observed the gray fur cat older than she is. Well trained, she thought telling herself not to fight yet until she finds a weakness.

Dawnfox watched the whole scene unfold quietly until she could talk. "Wolfwind, calm down. She's just a kit. Is it not in the warrior code to help any kit, no matter where they come from? And Flowerkit, you should not have been wandering around outside by yourself." She added sternly.

"I was not." Flowerkit said distracted by a butterfly but still holding the rabbit which she tied to her paw in case it tries to escape. "I was looking for something intresting." She added.

Dream was glad there was an excuse not to fight. She forgot the scratch that was there until it started to hurt again. She flicked her tail impatiently and said, "Now what?"

Dawnfox gave Flowerkit a gentle flick over the ears with the tip of her tail. "Just don't do it again. There are a lot of things that could happen to a kit out here, even within Clan borders."

She turned to the other kit. "I think it would be find to give you the rabbit, just this once. What do you think Wolfwind?"

Ottersplash slipped out of the nursery and glanced at the still sleeping form of Ashkit. She sadly thought about how similar Silverkit looked when she slept. She shoved the thoughts out of her head.

Silver moved along through the forest and out of a clump of roots.

Dawnfox took a breath. "Flowerkit wandered off by herself, and found this rabbit. This other kit wants the rabbit. And I think we should give it to her." Her tail twitched. I hope this is all cleared up soon...

Badgerpelt motioned for Shadow to follow. "How about a tour, and more importantly, where you will be sleeping to night?" He sat patiently, waiting for an answer.

Frostpaw scampered up to Badgerpelt, excited. "Can I help? Please?" She quickly turned to Shadow, not waiting for an answer from Badgerpelt. "I'm Frostpaw! What's your name?"
