Mysterious Asteroid bug?

[*] I've opened the Cave and Mysterious Asteroid in two Firefox tabs
[*] Started looking through the daily 10 attempts (I know they "regenerate", but I rarely do more than those 10)
[*] Approached the first egg
[*] Saw a Salaslyke
[*] Decided I probably will leave it, but haven't clicked "Back to cave" yet
[*] Moved to the other tab
[*] Chose an Asteroid egg to approach
[*] Clicked "Approach"
[*] Got "You've already visited Asteroid today"

No, I haven't.

The same thing happened about two days ago, but I thought maybe I have gone there and forgot about it. This time I'm sure I haven't - I only opened 2 tabs and haven't touched the computer for ~24 hours.

Can a "choice in progress" at the Cave affect the choosing at the Asteroid?

@snowwall Cave attempts have no bearing on Asteroid attempts. They are not linked in any way.

With regards to this happening at the Asteroid, do you remember double-clicking the "Approach Asteroid" button or the page load being slow?
