Neopets Users - My NT Story

I am taking a hiatus from Neopets, and I thought it might make a good short story for the Neopian Times.

Title: Saying Goodbye
Lead: Goodbye, everyone!

Story: As tears painfully carved tracks into her snowy face, Purrosia sighed and glanced at her rumbling stomach. When would her owner be back? Charlotte had been coming only sporadically for a while, and now she had been gone for over a month. She had never kept her promises to her pets. She had said that Purrosia would always be just a plain green Wocky, like her first pet wanted, but had used a morphing potion and paintbrush to turn her pet into a Snow Xweetok. Rrosaallivaalliaam was supposed to be an Alien Aisha, to match her name, instead of a Tyrannian Uni. Shyshycutecute had been destined for a Faerie Paint Brush, to become a Faerie Uni, but was still simply green. And her Lenny, Spooooookyyyy, was supposed to be painted Halloween, not Split.

Of course, when Charlotte came back, she would fix everything, make it all better...but until then, Purrosia and her siblings would remain as they were, almost literally dying from hunger. Surely Charlotte would be back soon...surely they hadn't been forgotten...surely...
But it was too much to hope for. Purrosia knew Charlotte had abandoned her pets, she needed to face that fact, she needed to move on with her life, and yet she couldn't. She kept hoping that, despite all odds, her owner would come back. She knew it was silly, that it would never be true, but she couldn't stop herself.

The door slammed open. Purrosia hoped it was who she thought it was, but couldn't be sure. But then she heard a voice calling out, "Hello? Is anyone home?" It was her owner's voice! "Charlotte!" Purrosia joyfully cried as she leapt to greet her mistress. But then she paused. Something was wrong - she could tell by the look on her owner's face.
"I have something to tell you," Charlotte murmured. "Get the others and meet me in the living room."
Purrosia raced through the hall. Into Rrosaallivaalliaam's room - "Charlotte's here! Go to the living room!" Into Shyshycutecute's room - "Charlotte's here! Go to the living room!" Into Spooooookyyyy's room - "Charlotte's here! Go to the living room!" She ran back down the hallway and into the living room, seating herself on the sofa. "What do you want to tell us?" she asked, quickly echoed by her siblings.

Finish reading the story! Also, I have read a lot of NT stories about abandoned pets.

"Well, I - I - I found another website," Charlotte muttered guiltily, hanging her head. "It's a lot more social, and I -"
Purrosia interrupted. "You think it's better than us?"
"No! Never! I love you four too much for that. But I'm being forced to choose, and, well..." Her voice trailed off. "But you guys could come with me, and see it for yourselves!"
"What do you think, guys? Should we?" Purrosia asked. They had a quick vote, and unanimously decided, "Yes."

Charlotte led them to a secret room in her house. One wall was green and glowing, and crackled every so often. "This is the way out of Neopets," Charlotte informed her pets. "Just hold hands and don't let go!" Doing as she advised, the fivesome stepped past the barrier and into a strange cave. "Here we are! My cove."
Charlotte introduced her curious foursome to her 133 creatures. Most were different from each other, except for 55 of them. About fifty of them were eggs, which was really weird. But the hatched creatures were friendly, and Purrosia really enjoyed the tour of the two cities. She could tell the others did, too.
"If you're going to stay here, can we stay here too?" she asked Charlotte.
"I wish you could, but things from other websites can only stay out for an hour. Look up."
Purrosia looked up and saw a glowing green timer floating above her head, reading 6m:47s
and saw the seconds ticking away. "Six minutes?!" she exclaimed. "We - What happens if we stay out too long?" she cautiously asked her owner.
"Do you really want to know?"
"That sounds bad...We gotta get back!" The five raced through the busy streets of Ark City to Charlotte's cove, then dived through the portal.

"So, what happens now?" Purrosia asked her owner.
"What do you want to happen?" Charlotte replied meekly. "Do you want to be adopted by some new loving owner, or be transferred to somewhere, or stay here, or...or what?"
"I think I'd like to stay here."
"Me too!"
"And me!"
"I'm not leaving, either!"
"Okay," Charlotte chuckled. "I'll try to stop by every now and then." Suddenly, she became overcome with teary emotion, and squeezed her pets tightly.
"I'll miss you guys."
"We'll miss you too."
"Remember that I always love you."
"We love you too, Mommy."

Purrosia darted out to the heaping pile by the Money Tree. and captured two whole Bullseye Pizzas. "Dinner!" she announced when she got home. It actually wasn't so bad now, since she knew her now-previous owner had left. Of course, the house was always filled with joy when Charlotte visited, but the four siblings had grown quite self-reliant. And Charlotte had renewed her promise to paint and morph - not her pets now, but her friends - into what they were meant to be. They had been told that, whenever she had spare time, she would come to Neopia. First she would come and say hello, then spend the rest of her time on the site playing games to earn Neopoints.

"What was your favorite creature we met, Rrosaalliivaalliaam?" Purrosia asked her little sister.
"Definitely Gemtail. He was nice, and so SHINY! How 'bout you, Spooooookyyyy?"
"I liked Sunshadow. She was the penultimate in evilness - so dark, so cruel..."
"I bet she's your new role model."
"Of course! Hopefully someday I'll be as vile as her!"
Purrosia slapped her forehead with her paw.
"You are so weird... What about you, Shyshycutecute?"
"Me? I liked Lalu. It was funny watching him bump into stuff. And you?"
"I kinda liked them all... But if I had to pick a favorite, I think it would be Punnbunn. I liked how she was so childish - but it was in a cute way. She was so silly!"

Charlotte came into the room. She was on one of her visits. "I'm glad you guys aren't mad at my creatures for stealing me away from you."
"Of course not!" Purrosia replied.
"Have you decided who should get what when yet?"
"Uh-huh. We're going cheapest to most expensive, so first, my Green Wocky Morphing Potion, then a Faerie Paint Brush for Shyshycutecute, then a Halloween Paint Brush for Spooooookyyyy, then secret lab ray map pieces so you can zap Rrosaallivaalliaam into an alien."
"Are all of you fine with that order?"
"Yes."
"Uh-huh."
"Definitely."
"Yeah."
"Okay, then. But it's time for bed, all of you," Charlotte told them.
She waited for them all to get under the covers in their rooms with the lights off, then went to each room and kissed each furry, feathery, or snowy forehead.
"I love you forever," she softly told each of her friends as they drifted into dreamland.
Charlotte started packing. She had arrived a week ago and would be gone before she could see the beautiful pastel hues of sunrise.

If you are reading this, then YAY! I made it into the Neopian Times! But I guess it's slightly ironic. My first entry into the Neopian Times, when I am leaving the site. Of course, I may come back now and then. So, goodbye for now, Neopia.

I like it 😊 It's cute.

I'm so inactive on Neo lol. There are times when I become super active, then I disappear then return then am semi-active. Right now I guess I'm inactive but I still check what's going on. So I don't miss plots and new avvies and that sort of thing 😋

Good luck in getting into the NT. I've been wanting to enter before but I never got around to actually writing anything for it.

I think it's a sweet story😊. I don't know if you'll get in or not as I don't read the neopian times and I'm not sure what kind of stories they like to pick, but I do hope yours is on of the ones that gets chosen to be in it 😉

Yeah. 😋 But I don't think anyone who DIDN'T play Egg Cave would guess.
And I know; even if it were a more normal story it would have very low chances.
