What are EC used for?

It’s pretty self explanatory, i just want to know what they are used for.

EC can be used to purchase a variety of things. You can use EC to buy travels, which are backgrounds you can put on your creatures. You can also buy toys, foods, and books which all increase creature happiness and also have the chance to increase your creature's stats when used. You can buy creatures in the SAR Center. You can book creatures in Tim's Food Shop to keep their happiness at 100. You can also trade it with other users for things that you want.
