Stars?

So, I've been wondering about stars. I've tried googling for answers, but couldn't find anything. I know what the regular yellow star is...but I've seen other colors of stars, and also seen them on different parts of the creature (like next to its name). Do the different colors and positions mean something?

Star creatures allow you to customize the star a bit, like change the color and position on the creature. These are just normal star creatures but the people who have them have used the customize feature.
