How do I delete a pet?

It's too expensive to send extra pets to the adoption center but I don't see a delete button. Do I have to make them die? I don't really understand how this works

There is no way to delete creatures. You can get rid of creatures by either putting them in the Adoption Center, trading/auctioning them to other users, or if you let their happiness drop low enough they will eventually die.
