Maybe as a mouseover, though that would be pretty useless for touchscreen users...
Maybe as a special page accessible by clicking the clock...
(Or both of the above, for quick access on PC/laptop and some access on phone)
Maybe even ChickenSmoothie-like, on the bottom of the page, no Javascript*, created once as the page loads...

But please, tell us the date, not only the time! The event finishes at the end of 25th, yet I have no idea what day it is on Eggcave. Some people on Earth are living in Sunday while others are already in Monday and yet others have barely gone out of Saturday - which of the three options depicts EC?

Will my Cloudbun be 23rd of April, 24th or 25th and how urgent is finding the last egg? Adopting a creature is the quickest of sure ways to find out, because even the forum timestamps are no use at all unless they're very old:

*I'm all for less JS, I tend to open many tabs at once and a few dozen clocks ticking at once are a huge memory/CPU sink 😉
