Thank you for these very interesting questions, @duball!

————————

Wouldn’t keeping eggs in tight vending machines be considered animal abuse?
That may be the case for normal vending machines, but The VEND Machine is an enigmatic device that no one even exactly knows the origin of. Heck, how is it even refilled? Despite the wildly varying needs of each egg species, this machine somehow carefully caters to them all while it waits to dispense them.

Are creatures pets or are they anthropomorphic like most of the shopkeepers?
From an in-game lore perspective, creatures are the stand-in for humans and why you see them as anthropomorphic shopkeepers. These creatures are collectible pets from a meta, or gameplay, perspective.

Why is an owl(augga) the same size of a beetle?(gode)
The Gode is actually 0.05 meters while the Augga is 0.5 meters. That said, there certainly are some size differences amongst the creatures of Ark that you wouldn't always expect from the animals of our own world. Some birds you'd expect to be large may actually be small while some normally tiny insects might be huge!

Do chickens and normal animals exist in this planet?
Not in an explicit sense, particular items aside. There are definitely analogues to our real-world animals where, excepting the name, they fulfill essentially the same role. Some creatures may even share actual animal names, like the Pangolin, while still retaining their own Egg Cave flair.

How far is the planet from earth?
The planet's whereabouts are currently unknown on a cosmic scale.

What was the ancient times in eggcave like?
These times are mostly shrouded in mystery aside from the occasional glimpse into ancient Ark found within entries at the Archives. Ancient folklore and unearthed relics tell of many fascinating and exciting things of Ark's past that we may very well learn more about in the future.

Why can you get a 10000ft cosmic monster egg from a damp cave?
Because the Egg Cave is full of oddities that may never be fully understood, try as we might. In fairness to the Cave, however, the Cosmomon species is its own conundrum so maybe it has its own reasons for existing in a dark, damp cave just for anyone to happen across.

Why do snawlers not mind getting kicked around?
Snawlers are rather laidback (and very durable) creatures that genuinely, for whatever reason, just don't seem to mind being sent flying across the ground at high speeds. They must find some enjoyment out of it.

How painful would gender stones be for creatures?
As with any of the other creature-effecting items sold at the Cash Shop, they're not painful in the least bit.

If you have any further questions, I can offer more insight to into the lesser discussed aspects of Ark but remember that some questions may have answers not yet able to be shared until the right time. 😉

Some more fascinating questions, @duball. 🤔

————————

Are retired creatures extinct?
Short answer, no. Longer answer, the current availability of a creature does not necessarily correlate to their actual in-universe population on Ark. Retired simply means that a species is unavailable to obtain in the foreseeable future outside of user-to-user exchanges.

Does ian own marapets? (Offtopic)
He does not, but it is interesting that two virtual pet websites have an admin named Ian, isn't it?

How poisonous are kitbee eggs on a scale of varying real life animals that are poisonous?
I imagine the toxicity might be comparable to the venom of an entire hive of honeybees all rolled into one.

Do people eat creatures other then creatures hunting people?
Yes.

What happens if a creature that hunts another creature, meets them in a store for example?
Edgar and Pepita would be an example of this scenario as Grubbugs are natural predators to Kinumps, but it really just depends on the individual. For Edgar's case, it would likely result in awkward small talk and not much else.

Why is pangy selling moldy food?
That's a great question that the Ark City Department of Health ought to have ironed out with Pangy.

What is the trivia man’s origin?
Master Zhi is a deeply respected elder of Leila that now enjoys nothing more than using his wealth of knowledge to quiz Arkians on the island's wildlife and many other curiosities. Interestingly, the plethora of tales he shares rarely touch upon his own past. It is known from his stories that he was born in the Northern Plains and that much of his childhood was spent in the desert under the care of a family of nomadic traders. The details surrounding this upbringing is hazy and something that Master Zhi largely glosses over for reasons unknown.
