SARC & Gallery?

helloo everyone😊 i had two more questions i had forgotten about!
1. when/how often does the SARC like...restock? that's not quite the right word, but...like reset?? and how does it work exactly? can everyone just donate any amount of money they'd like and once the goal is reached, everyone that donated gets one? or does it not matter how much you donate, you still have to just buy one after the goal is reached?
2. is there some sort of gallery function, or someway of creating like a gallery? i've been buying some suuper cute items and i'd like to display them or something, but i'm not sure if that's really a thing?

Hiya! I have answers you are looking for 😊

1. There's not really a time that they start to take donations at the SARC, it is fairly random.
Yes, you can donate as much, or as little, EC as you want. Once the goal is reached, everyone gets the option to buy the creature.
When donations open, no one knows what the creature looks like. With more and more money recieved, more stages will show up.
You will not get one of the new creatures, no matter how much EC you donate.

2. At the moment, no. There is a suggestion asking for one to be added though! So we'll see if it gets implemented

@pinkhanni just want to note that the closest options we have to a gallery is either
1) the highly debated method of highly overpricing items in your User Shop (and that always runs the risk of someone coming along and buying something out of it anyhow and the spaces are limited by how many you can afford.)
or
2) choosing one or a few creatures to give the items to and linking to them in your profile or make a tab for them. (Unlimited space, but the downside is that it doesn't display as nicely.)

@newlife ahh! thank you so much for the detailed answer! ❤️ so the donations are just to unlock it then i see..interesting! i can't wait until the next one comes up! it's such a fun idea and i can't wait to "participate" in it!
ahhh, ok! i really hope they implement it because egg cave has soo many adorable items and i really want to be able to display them!!

@snowywinter thank you so muchh! i've definitely thought of the first option you said, but also realized that very thing! haha plus then it wouldn't be very good for keeping actual items for sale and display separate i think hmm.
ooh, the second one is an interesting idea...but yeah, it wouldn't display the way i'd like i think, but also, you can give items to your creatures? like, travels of course, but other items as well? i didn't know this!!

The last SARC creature started on the 11th Feb 2022 and ran until 5th March 2023 (Blogs - https://eggcave.com/blog/donations-being-collected-for-the-kendo and https://eggcave.com/blog/kendo-fund-completed?page=1 ). From reading comments the goal was 900 mil, but a 300 mil ec "grant" was issued to hasten things along (leaving only 50mil to raise, which was done rather quickly then).


As to the items, yes you can give other things to your creatures. From memory food, and books will be consumed and disappear though, but toys, won't unless they are broken (randomly). Items also increase the creatures happiness level and have a chance to increase other stats as well (food - feed, toys - clicks, books - views). EC travels and Trinket travels are effectively consumed as well, and can not be removed with out a CC item. You can change travels simply by applying a new one, you just don't get the old one back. CC travels can be removed and reused.

Also, while trinket travels may have a species name and stage in them, you can use them on any creature. The name and stage is just who was in mind when the item was designed.

ahh yeahh, i learned about using items on creatures, i dont wanna do that tho, i wanna keep my cute things! i'm slowly starting to get into travels, but i have this thing where, because you can't just remove and reuse it, i'm like omg what if i find another creature i like better for this travel but can't find the travel again LOL it's like the sticker thing, i dunno if you know what im talking about, hahaha

I get that with the travels, although my thinking goes more to the "What if I find something better for this creature?". The Items Database helps a lot with that though as I can play around and preview. I'm lucky enough to now have the ec to waste though, but remember it unreasonably stressing me out in the early days of my time here. I do remember using some items to help with happiness and stats, but this was in the days before questing, and the Leaf and a bunch of other features (man, feel old again), but that was before working out how to use Tim's in a way that suited me best in keeping my creatures alive.

I went hunting further back in regards to the SARC. If I remember correctly, the Deena was the creature before the Kendo. Research started November 2019 and was only 350 mil. (https://eggcave.com/blog/a-brand-new-species-is-being-researched?page=1), finishing in March 2020 (https://eggcave.com/blog/deena-fund-completed?page=1). So there was a 2 year gap. The SARC is effectively an ec sink and I think donations dropped off a bit with the introduction of questing.

@minnie298a omg yeaahhh, hahaha but i also worry about not being able to get that travel again, haha i've been looking on egg cavity because it has that viewer feature! but it's still so much to go through you know what i mean, haha
ooh, questing hasn't always been around??

Questing started October 7th, 2018 (although I could have sworn it was more like 2020, but my perception of time is a little screwed). Blog post - https://eggcave.com/blog/egg-cave-quests-public-release?page=1 . It was a way to re-release older cave creatures, something people had been asking for for years. It originally was more like a lucky dip, were you put your tokens in and randomly got 1 creature from the pool you chose (eg I'm sure the Froplet, Unusith and Horrorse were all one pool).

The onsite item database has only been around a couple of years as well. For a while, EggCavity was the way only way to preview travels on a certain species unless you found one on site.
