Ping Notification

I started an Auction on the forums a few days ago and required of participants to ping me whenever they bid. The problem is that since yesterday, I stopped receiving ping notifications. I find this to be somewhat unusual since I made sure that my account is able to be notified whenever I get pinged. I still get notified whenever I receive wall posts or messages, but not for pings. Is there a limit to how many ping notifications I can get or is it that my notifications finally broke due to how many times I was getting pinged?
