creature gender etc.

Hello everyone!
This may be a silly question, but was it ever possible to breed creatures on EggCave? I've just stumbled upon a topic where someone said that creature gender is a purely cosmetic thing with no real significance within the gameplay. I used to play here in 2014 (and even earlier, like 2011 on an account which was deleted) and somehow I remember it was possible to breed two adult creatures of the same species and opposite sex together. I'd never managed to raise any creature to the adult stage back then, so it's very possible I got something mixed up. Do I remember that correctly or maybe I'm confusing this site with some other game, idk

It has never been possible to breed creatures and there are no plans to introduce breeding. The gender marker is purely cosmetic.
