I must admit, I am not a very active member of Eggcave anymore. But I visit my cove every so often, I've been a member here since 2010, I remember Eggcave when it had a dark green very basic theme, I've been here since I was a child and through to a teen, young adult and finally an adult. Recently I've been reflecting on it a lot and I never realized how much this website and its community was an integral part of my childhood and adolescence until I stopped frequenting these spaces.

Every time I revisit my cove I take a stroll through my comment wall that I so long ago made the decision to curate to keep messages I held as sentimental tokens of friendships. I also like to revisit my friends list which is a representation of the people I surrounded myself with when I was still very active. Most of their profiles are now dormant. Eggcave becoming a second thought or even no thought in their lives; and there are countless others that have since been deactivated who also shaped my experience here.

Taking this time every so often is nostalgic, and sad, and heartwarming, and devastating, and cathartic as I remember the excitement of receiving a comment on my wall from a friend, shooting silly jokes back and forth or informing each other of trade lots that contain our wishlist creatures, racing to be the first feed on each other's new creatures or planning to chat on the next day that never came to be.

In the end I hope this community here is serving others like me, especially kids seeking community with likeminded and kindhearted folk.

I hope Eggcave is a place grumpy teens (like I was) can find solace in their creatures and the friendships they form here.

I hope this place can be a refuge for other overtired college students who alternate between between being active and struggling through a sea of homework and exams like I not so recently was.

This sounds sappy and dumb like a big dramatic goodbye but I will still lurk around, visiting often. I can't leave my cove and I can't leave this place that has held such a place in my heart for so long.
