Hi!

I am new and just wanted to come here and say hi, loving the little eggs already and can’t wait for them to grow.

Just a few questions, what can I do in the meantime while I wait for them to grow? And will they ever die? I get worried if I miss a few days or if their happiness goes down.

You can check out the Newbie's Guide to get a better feel for how the site works, but for your questions: Creatures below level 20 can die if their happiness gets too low (try to keep their happiness levels out of the red). Creatures level 20+ are immortal and can't die. The best way to keep happiness up (and get stats to hatch/evolve) is to feed other user's creatures so those users will feed yours back.

There are plenty of things to do around here while waiting for creatures to grow. At the top of the page, the 'Games' tab includes short things that can be done daily like Site Trivia and Alkub Racing.
There are also things that take longer like Quests, which is a great way to work towards getting creatures that aren't available in the cave. And the Monthly Challenge, if you do all the daily tasks there for 25 days in a month you'll earn 100CC (CC is the 'premium currency' primarily bought with real money). The Monthly Challenge does require you to verify your account through text message though.

Hi @fiapmon and welcome to Egg Cave!
Depending on each egg, they need either feeds, views or clicks to evolve. You can click on the name of species to find out which stat your creature needs to evolve. Their happiness depends on feeds. If you feed other coves, and leave a comment on the player's profile, they will usually feed back your creatures!
A creature (egg) becomes immortal when it reaches level 20, just like Heather said. You can keep all your creatures happy if you go to Shop > Tim's Food Shoppe and pay him in EC to feed your creatures daily and keep them at 100% happiness. The feeds from Tim's Food Shoppe won't be counted (there won't be any increase in the feed stats of your creatures) and it costs 75 EC /creature/day. You can earn EC (Egg Coins) by feeding other people's creatures and by playing different games that you can find in the Menu.
