I am curious! I would expect moths and butterflies to be the most popular?

for me I really love millipedes, definitely getting a giant one as a pet when I have finances/space for a large terrarium. huge ones are my favorite, I'm a bit sad we only have small millipede variants here. weevils are also up there, they have a crazy long nose and feet that look like wooden clogs... cannot top that. my mom found one in the garden and brought him for me to observe, such a silly little creature. I took a short video of him waddling around before returning him to his business in the garden.

@redwall
I don't have favorites per se, not like with mammals that I get obsessed with. I actually had to think on this a bit,
and I remembered that I really liked the big black crickets as a kid. They're just so pretty and neat to watch, and about as fun to catch as frogs. A challenge to be able to do it without hurting them. (So often they got away from me as I erred on the side of caution.)

And ever so grateful to earthworms for the work they do.

One that's surprised me in recent years is the boxelder bug. After letting go of societal taught prejudice, I've found them to be very fascinating to observe. There really should be more research done on them. They have complex social lives and unique personalities as individuals, and can be taught some simple tricks. (I even have some video I captured that I NEED to send to someone (expert in the field), of some rare behavior of one "dancing." I've seen thousands of these bugs and had never seen them dance, before or since. If I was on social media I'm sure it would make for a viral video. Little dude's got some moves. lol.)
(I have so many questions about the behavior I've witnessed in them, but everything I found out there on the internet, even scientific papers are so short and to the point. "this is what they eat, this is their life cycle, etc." Like people just got the basic facts and quit looking after that. As if no one ever spent any really time with them. Well, I found one person sort of interested in them too, but that blog post was disappointingly brief too.)

rose-toed tarantulas are a personal favorite, and i love rosy maple moths and orchid mantises as well! i adore all bugs and arachnids, as i want to be an entomologist, but i'm particularly fond of anything pink. 😊

The Giant House Spider grew on me despite my arachnophobia. They really do everything in their power to be as beneficial to humans as possible.

I also love butterflies and work to draw them into my garden. But a favorite for me has always been praying mantis. Another bug I work to keep in my vegetable garden.

Depends on the Bug for me 😅

I have sensory issues, so certain 'Things that Cling' or Beasties that Leave Scents that I can't get rid of and I'll try to avoid them as best I can... (Stink-Bug Incident when I was Little was both 'Clingy' and 'Stinky' and something that still makes me Twitchy whenever I see one) 😣🤣

I've Always been Fascinated by Bugs and Beasties and like a lot of things in General, I don't have a Preference on any Specific Bug 😅
I like Butterflies and Moths (TigerMoth for the Win!) Some Spiders (Except the Giant One I once Fought Off with a Wooden Spoon!) and often find myself trying to Identify them with this 'iNaturalist' app I found a while back - It's actually helped me become more Fascinated with finding out What the Bug/Beastie is, rather than seeking to just 'Avoid it' (I've even found myself Identifying a few Stink-Bugs - which have So Many more Names than just 'Shield-Bug' lol)

Didn't expect to leave an Essay... Oops? lol - Full of Stories Me... 🤣
