Collecting Interest Deactivated after Making Transaction

Hi, this is not a big deal but it's been annoying me.

You can collect interest once a day from the bank, but if you withdraw/deposit EC before doing that, the button gets grayed out as if you already collected interest.

I don't know if this is a bug or if this is how it works for everybody. If it is universal, what is the purpose of it? Why punish the player for using the bank before collecting interest? Is there some way to abuse the bank that this is protecting against?

I often forget to scroll down to the bottom of the page and click collect interest before I make a transaction, so I've missed my interest several times. It's not a lot of EC, but it's a shame.

@auvember That's how it works for everyone, though I have no idea why. I've learned to always collect interest first thing (like as soon as I get online), after awhile it's easy enough to remember, but it does seem a little strange that it's like that.

@auvember This is frustrating for sure. :-/ I've found almost all pet site banks to operate this way. There's a few possible reasons why.

Each new day, the site calculates your current balance (once) and provides an interest amount (once). So if you change it by withdrawing or depositing, the system would need to recalculate everything, which most sites aren't going to code in. Not only would that be more coding work, but like you said, players could also deposit a large sum right before collecting interest in order to take advantage of the interest feature. Also, interest can be viewed as a reward for not touching your balance, aka saving / using a bank for its primary purpose. I hope this helps! :-)

@daisycat That makes sense! I think this is one of those cases where "fixing" the problem by changing the code is more of a hassle for the devs than leaving it as a slight inconvenience. Thank you for your answer.

@heatherm19 Like you've done, it seems the best option is just build a habit of clicking that button first ^^

I was mainly worried it was only me dealing with it, so I feel a little better now lol

I'd just like to add, that I can not recall it working any other way at any time.

As suggested above, making collecting your interest one of the first things you do a habit is best. I'd also suggest depositing your ec one of the last things you do before midnight. This not only maximizes your interest, could add as an extra reminder to collect the interest.

I'm normally on around change of day (time zones are fun). I'm also on a computer, so can open multiple tabs at once. So first thing I do is check the daily tasks, then I'll open up, each in it's own tab, the trivia page, achieves, asteroid, Sandrodons, Alkub racing, bank, and 10 coves, interspaced with my Profile page if needed for the Wall posting daily. Then work my way across them, doing the action and closing the tab. At the bank page I collect then deposit my interest.

@minnie298a You have a great system! I also use a computer, so the tab method might work well for me too.

It won't be hard to build the habit I think, especially once the Dragold's Den is over. I've been depositing EC practically every 15 minutes to avoid losing any, so that's partially why I've been losing my interest so often lately ^^' I'm eager to visit the Dragold and it slips my mind.
