Hello everyone! I've been running an item shop for a bit now, but I was thinking about getting some feedback and hearing from other questers / shop owners! Hopefully it will help me improve my shop as well.(Maybe I should switch this thread to the trading subforum-)Okay, so... I have a few questions I'd like to hear from you, no wrong answers!Items on the user shops tend to range from being convenient for questing to being mainly for profit. I want to be able to strike a balance between ease of questing and profit. Of course, items from their original shops come in many prices as well!1) Do you mind prices being a bit higher, or do you prefer prices to be as close to its original listing as possible? What would be a reasonable price range be for... let's say... an item that was originally ~1,000 EC? How about ~4,000 EC or ~10,000 EC? When do items start getting too expensive for you? When I gather items for my shop I tend to go through various different shops and stock various types of items.2) Do you prefer to stock items from 1 specific shop, or do you stock from various shops as well? Do you think that it is better to do one or the other, or do you not mind? Also on items, the only shops I rarely stock from is from the Bean Sack or Trinket Travels, though, I know that these items can be used for collecting, baiting creatures in the cave, etc.3) Do you stock items from these shops? Do you think that stocking from the Bean Sack / Trinket Travels is underutilized? Would you like to see more shops stock items from BS or TT, or do you not mind too much?

I really don’t like seeing shop items being resold for 5x their original price, that’s about the cutoff for me of what’s too expensive. Even 4x more expensive is really pushing it and I’ll usually let a quest fail before I spend 4x or 5x the shop price for an item in user shops. If things are commonly bought at hyperinflated prices on user shops, people will be more incentivized to scoop up everything from shops just to dump on user shops for high profit, making it difficult for everyone to obtain quest items. I just stock what I have extras of, if I have 3 or more of the item I put one up for sale, so I stock from various shops. I stock some trinket travels sometimes if I realize I don’t actually want one I bought anymore, but those stay as close to original price as possible. I don’t bother with the Bean Sack. It would be cool to see more Trinket Travels in user shops, but genuinely only if they’re not ridiculously overpriced.

1. I prefer not to pay more than 5-6k on an item if i'm questing. I'll make the occasional exception if the item is really rare/pricy in shops. I also price my own shop at 5k. Everything is 5k because that's what I like to purchase my items at.2. I stock from all shops. I try to stock items with a higher rarity.3. I shop and stock with questing in mind, so I don't stock Trinkets or Bean Sack items.

@galactic_pigeon I don't exactly want to rely on user shops for much questing, as the prices add up fast. I've managed to get my stronghold to have at least one, if not 2, of almost every item from the main shops. I'd say theres at most like 40 items from each shop that I am out of. But as long as I comb through the main shops every so often I'm more than set. I also have one of every trinket travel for my own purposes, but I've recognized this lack of TT stock in user shops and I'm gonna start selling select trinkets in my shop. (i wish galleries were available so i can showcase my list of desirable trinkets without worrying about selling out and forgetting about any of them). However I find the User Shop UI kinda clunky, similar to the stronghold ui. but not too bad.

I definitely use the shops! I used to keep more of a shop myself, right now I only have a few things there and generally use my side's shops for transferring ec. Using user shops can be frustrating because of the ridiculously-high costs (many of which are due to users using them as 'galleries', which could *hopefully* be changed *if* we ever get galleries...). 1) I'm generally okay with paying higher prices for most items, especially if I'm questing and haven't seen it in the NPC shop that day, or if it's a newer item that I've been struggling to find for awhile. Hypothetically I'd buy a 1,000 ec item for maybe up to 7,000 before I'd hesitate, but only if it's something I actually need and not me just trying to 'stock up' on stuff.2) I think both types of shops can be useful, for instance I've bookmarked a few user shops that only stock specific type of items so it's easier to search there if I'm just looking for a quest item real quick. If I'm just browsing shops for fun or to stock up, I do enjoy going through shops that have a variety of items. Personally when I actually use my own shop I just stock whatever I have extras of or have decided I don't need, regardless of shop/item type.3) While I totally understand not stocking from Trinkets or Bean because of the lack of questing to encourage buying, I do buy those types from user shops sometimes. I love travels and, probably because of the lack of questing, I tend to find a lot of shops selling trinkets for pretty cheap. I mostly only buy Bean items if it's a new item I haven't gotten.

i run a shop but i price things just enough to keep me from going into the red; it's mostly just to help questers out since i occasionally quest myself and it does get really expensive!! i stock random things (e.g., rewards from dailies/quests), price rounded up to the nearest thousand, though when i buy directly from the stores to stock my own shop, i'll buy things that are rarer to try to help with the scarcity/expensiveness1) when i quest, i primarily use the user shops because i find it convenient and i'll buy anything up to 10k, at which point i'll check the item price to see if it's actually just the item being expensive or a really high upcharge 2) i stock from all the shops! i think i have a very slight bias to stocking travels and toys though because those are the items where i run into super expensive stuff when i quest 3) ngl i didn't realize until literally this thread that bean shop/trinket travels aren't quest-related XD i'll stock them if i have them, and i'll probably still continue to buy the rarer items from these stores just in case people want them and they're harder to find

I occasionally buy from other users shops. However it is only when I'm after something I don't have and want "right now". So either for questing or the use/consume task. How much I pay also depends on the item. While I look in my strong room first, I've always had a 10k per item limit from player shops for quests (so 20k a token) and the consume items are generally Trinket Travels or newer items I want for "old" collections and I have around a 20k limit for those. Over those limits and I cancel the quest or jot down the item to keep an eye out for it (unless the NPC price is over 10k, then I go on a case by case basis). Once in a player shop, I may also grab things I think I'll need if I don't have any or only one of and they seem "cheap".In saying all that, my strongroom is fairly well stocked. Not only have I been around for ever, but I've always had a slight hoarding tendency so I had a half decent strongroom when questing started. I often go on NPC shopping sprees and buy whatever I see (again, been around for ever and have the funds just laying around to do so). I do have soft personal limits set for each item when I go on a spending spree. My shop is stocked with items that I've got the most spares of in my strongroom, which is primarily questing items and at the moment mainly travels. I price everything at 20% over the NPC price listed in the Item Database (eg a 1000 ec item will sell for 1200). So I make enough profit to keep me doing it, but I also don't depend on the income. I also can't be bothered enough to spend the time and energy to constantly monitor and price match items. I have thought about adding TTs as they are mostly what I go searching for, but at the moment I have more spares of other items.

@stormwarden your shop is my go-to for questing, genuinely thank you for the prices you keep

Ooh- got quite a few good responses here!I have also been collecting items and putting them in my storage room for a while, but mainly I've been collecting older items. Think I might start gathering newer ones too since I have gotten quests where it asks for some of my storage room items lol. When questing, I do first check main shops and if I have spares in my strongroom, then I might go to check user shops. I try to pick out items under 5k or 6k, with an exception if the item was normally pricey. Though, as long as it is in a reasonable range. In my shop, I've been placing 1k items at 3k, but I'm wondering if I should drop it back down to 2k or less like I was doing a while ago. I actually might consider starting to stock trinket travels or bean sack items since I haven't seen many of those around!
