(Remember, we're having to walk the fine line here as politics aren't allowed.)

Most years for a long time I've been apathetic, but this year I got swept up in the fervor of it being a major milestone and a near once-in-a-lifetime event - So I'm choosing to focus on the positives.

I've been following along virtually with the Relay for America, and watching videos people have been posting.
Normally I don't get into running events, but I can really get behind the concept of this one, the spirit of togetherness and community.
For those that don't know it was a relay of people carrying the flag from coast to coast. A relay of the flag from person to person. Hundreds. (official original sign-up was 250, but it was much more than that.) All day and night.
I really wished I could have went and at least cheered on some of the runners.
Funny coincidence - I first checked in where the flag was at when they were in a town I've passed through before in another state! And later I found out from a friend that moved away, that was where he worked for a few months!

I'm not going to any cookouts, or going to any fireworks shows.
I had actually planned on heading out to the country (a marsh actually) to get away from the boomies, but I'm sick so just going to lay around at home and try to endure the barrage best I can.

Been watching a variety of celebrations (and history thingies) on various platforms. From a variety of perspectives.
My favorite (non-political one) so far has been "America the Bountiful: America's 250 Anniversery Special". lol. I am such a foodie. (It highlights the life of the founders of the country. What types of food they ate, and the influence those foods had on the US' independace from Britain.)
