Rare Monthly to Spice up Cave?

Hi everyone,
Not sure if this topic has been suggested before by the community, tried to look a few pages back. Also not sure how well this will fly considering creature values and all that. But I am finding, like I am sure many other users do, that after a few days into the month it's basically pointless to check the Cave. (Unless you are grinding many copies of the monthlies which is fair.)

I have a suggestion that might make it worth it doing the 10+ checks every day. It would be a really neat idea to have one of the older monthlies come back each month, alongside the two new monthlies. But make it very rare - I mean, statistically around the rate of getting one the whole month from the cave, assuming you use your 10 checks only but check every day.

I think this would be a great incentive to check the caves each day, maybe even get super lucky and have it show up on the Bait with Item list, and would be like a cool little secret for persistent players. I would never want a new creature to be super rare, since that would stress a lot of users out, but a rerelease of a previous Cave creature, well... That would be cool!

Let me know what you all think of this idea. Might just ping a few users I've seen that appear to have been around a long time who can give good criticism, plus Ian:

Yes and no. Not fair to players who collects certain Monthlies, good for other players.

But as I realizted in this 6 years of playying, almost all ideas remain ideas. Sad, but so it is.

@dragiigy Okay, I appreciate the helpful feedback. I assume it's because of the rarity of older monthlies, your collection would depreciate in value? Or just that it would still be a desparate grind for those specific users where they felt like they had to maximize every little cave refresh?
At least the upside would be that those users would have more of that creature to collect, as people would likely auction or trade their new creatures.

Also sad to hear that, I understand the site has been around a long time so I imagine that it's not easy to find the time and resources to make updates like this. Nevertheless no regrets putting this out there! Thanks again for your reply!!!

@pathogenia I think this is cool, but I agree with dragiigy that this would be unlikely to implement and would be pushback due to rarities dropping - this matters to some people I guess, if their "rare" creatures are still technically obtainable
And I think the VEND already kind of does this rerelease old monthlies, except you have to grind quests and not just be lucky

Definitely an interesting idea, but I do think Nut is right about the VEND system serving a similar function. I would kind of love to see this, but I can easily imagine pushback.

Also I appreciate the ping, but as a disclaimer: I only joined Egg Cave in April, so I don't have the perspective a long-term user.

@nut @merit I see, I can understand that. Okay, well I appreciate the honest feedback! I would love to see a different way that maybe the cave can become a place of interest again for more users, I think more new creatures would probably be a bad idea (outside of the new monthlies we get every month which is great) but maybe I can think of another suggestion that would help bring some interest to it.

I agree with what's been said by dragiigy, nut, and merit (especially with @/dragiigy saying almost all ideas remain ideas). I do think your idea is really fun in theory, it feels like it would add some much needed excitement to the game. For example, I don't use the bait feature but I'd most likely rather bait for a past monthly than whatever the current monthlies would be. Speaking of, there's a surplus of excellent ideas being suggested but what gets implemented is something I don't think anyone asked for (the bait feature). No offense to it at all, I think it's neat, but... why not focus on adding things people outright say they want or need.

Overall, I don't see this being added, and even if a lot of people did want it, I doubt they'd implement it... speaking from experience with myself and others. ^^' Any shade towards EC from me is coming from a place of love, I want the site to actively care for its dedicated playerbase. It's discouraging that most suggestions on here don't get considered, but that said -- you seem to have a great mind for ideas, so I am glad you posted this! I'd look forward to anything else you'd suggest. :-D

@daisycat Thank you for your response! I'm sad too to hear that I guess a lot of the suggestions don't get implemented but I figured it's no sweat off my back to toss them out there. I appreciate the compliments, it's just cool that EggCave has been around to be this cool little corner of the internet, reminds me so much of how the web used to be. If eventually one of the suggestions pans out even, I'd feel proud to have helped contribute!

I'm going to agree on the "That's the purpose of the VEND" crowd.

I'll also add that in several times a year there is a Limited Edition creature offered for a couple of weeks through the cave. October is normally one of those with a Halloween-ish creature release towards the end of the month (Gravemaw was last year). I'm fairly certain that LE's and certain event prizes (Easter, Gobbler) are not rereleased anywhere.
