The Feather That Changed It All

To the residents of Ark City and all of the wonderful inhabitants of Ark: today is a day of historic proportions. Today is a day that, I believe, will never be topped so long as this beautiful island exists. I am here to announce that, with the help of the successful funding from thousands of Ark residents, we have genetically reconstructed a full, living Calla creature from the mysterious Feather that once puzzled us.

Today is not only a day where we can marvel at nature's wonders, but a day where we commemorate the gift of science and its power. Science is not simply an understanding of the world around us. Science is a tool we can use to advance good. However, we must recognize that science can also be abused and that we may overstep our bounds. The good that we advance with science today is the Calla: a creature that will add to Ark's biodiversity and human enjoyment.

For those of you who do not know, on November 11, 2009, the Science and Research Center discovered a mysterious Feather we believed may be linked to the Calla. After 500 million EC in graciously-given funding, we purchased the appropriate equipment to analyze this feather. Thankfully, our hunch was correct. Contained within the Feather are chromosomes and DNA that are extremely similar to both eagles and horses. After extracting this DNA from the feather and injecting this DNA into a living animal cell, it grew and grew into a full Calla that The Archives told us existed.

Calla are a majestic cross between an eagle and a horse. They are able to soar high to dangerous elevations; elevations where humans would normally die due to the scarcity of oxygen. Not only can they fly and transport humans by air from their eagle heritage, but they pack an extremely dangerous punch with their back hooves if an attack occurs. Calla are loyal only to the first human it lays its sight on.

The Science and Research Center have made 5 functional Calla. More can, and will, be made. This process, naturally, is extremely costly and expensive. Only the most privileged of Ark citizens will be able to afford to own a Calla.

Join us, Thursday, May 27, at 5:00 pm ECT for the release of the first Calla into the wild. You will see it in all of its splendor. After the release, Calla will be available for purchase at the Science and Research Center (for EC).

This Feather is magnificent. It's the Feather that changed it all.

allie9112 • 21 May 2010, 4:28 PM

WE HAVE TO PAY FOR IT?????????

wolf-obsessor • 21 May 2010, 4:28 PM

I think it would be in EC. Since it's not in the Cash Shop, from the S&R Center. That's what I gathered, anyway

sunshine4562 • 21 May 2010, 4:29 PM

anonymous13 • 21 May 2010, 4:30 PM

Wow! This is great!

sunshine4562 • 21 May 2010, 4:30 PM

@Ian: Do we get the Calla in the cave? Will it be released different times during the day?

wolf-obsessor • 21 May 2010, 4:30 PM

I bet everyone is going to go feed a ton of eggs now. I've been doing that the past few days =P *Rainbow confetti* 6 Days to wait. 😊

whitefall • 21 May 2010, 4:31 PM

Hey guys, do you think I can raise 2 Puffups in about 8 days? If I try, I can 😊

anonymous13 • 21 May 2010, 4:31 PM

And I'm glad that it's EC and not CC.

auraboros • 21 May 2010, 4:31 PM

Yay! Thanks Ian. 😊

whitefall • 21 May 2010, 4:32 PM

Max I'll pay is 37,000 EC. That's all I can spend right now. I have way more than that (700,000 EC approx.) but I'm going to spend a lot on

whitefall • 21 May 2010, 4:33 PM

Tim's because I'll going on vacation for 5 weeks (ish). And yeah. 😊

allie9112 • 21 May 2010, 4:33 PM

May 27th at 5pm. I'm writing that in phone's calender.

whitefall • 21 May 2010, 4:33 PM

Thank you Ian, so much! You rock! You should be crowned awesomest person of the Internt for 2010 (if that exists! 😊)

sunshine4562 • 21 May 2010, 4:34 PM

@Allie: Same Here.

snowyball • 21 May 2010, 4:34 PM

FINALLY!

whitefall • 21 May 2010, 4:34 PM

@allie- I just did. πŸ˜ƒ It's a big event! Hopefully we won't have to pay like 1 million, I don't have that much 😸

libra • 21 May 2010, 4:35 PM

I want a CALLA!!!!

wendiena • 21 May 2010, 4:38 PM

woooohooo!!!πŸ˜ƒ

nyxulfr • 21 May 2010, 4:39 PM

This is wonderful news, I'm so going to save up on EC now. 😸 But wait, only 5 Callas?!

libra • 21 May 2010, 4:40 PM

Now what? Now that we will get the calla, what is our group goal? *Waits for next "Plot".*

allie9112 • 21 May 2010, 4:40 PM

@limited, they won't be in the cave. You have to buy them in the S & R Center. 😈

peacecrest • 21 May 2010, 4:40 PM

Only five Callas in the cave? Will the daily limit be removed or if we use it up before five will we be SOL?

wolf-obsessor • 21 May 2010, 4:42 PM

I don't think that means there is ONLY 5 Calla available for purchase, I think it's just for the story.

nyxulfr • 21 May 2010, 4:44 PM

I really hope so, wolf-obsessor. Or Ian'll have some very angry EC-members after him. πŸ˜‹ 😊

lynncrow • 21 May 2010, 4:44 PM

at least you dont have to use real money ^^

wolf-obsessor • 21 May 2010, 4:45 PM

Well, if you read it, it doesn't sound like only 5 are being released. It says there are currently 5, but it's a costly thing. Only --

wolf-obsessor • 21 May 2010, 4:45 PM

privileged Ark Citizens will be able to afford it. I think it's just going to be expensive to buy one, but not only 5 released.

j-d • 21 May 2010, 4:46 PM

This sounds awesome.

capella • 21 May 2010, 4:46 PM

YaY! Finally!

peacecrest • 21 May 2010, 4:47 PM

It's saying five are being released into the WILD, after that you have to pay because it's costly. Like, cost of making it?

wolf-obsessor • 21 May 2010, 4:53 PM

@peace; That's what I think. It'll be expensive to re-generate them.

silverserpent • 21 May 2010, 4:55 PM

So we will have to pay for it - again? πŸ˜‹ Oh, well... Just need to feed some more, I guess. 😸

allie9112 • 21 May 2010, 4:55 PM

Maybe they made 5 Callas, released them into the wild so they could breed and make more?

silverserpent • 21 May 2010, 4:56 PM

@allie9112 That's what I'm guessing...

usa102790 • 21 May 2010, 4:57 PM

Yay, this is exciting !!

wendiena • 21 May 2010, 4:58 PM

how much is the calla going to cost?

auraboros • 21 May 2010, 4:58 PM

D: Wait... If it took 500 mil to make 5 Callas... Does that mean it takes 100 mil to make one? Is that what they'll cost?!

vampire666 • 21 May 2010, 4:59 PM

Hippogryph! Wow, that's a funny spelling. O_O

joy • 21 May 2010, 5:00 PM

Woho! History in the making. πŸ˜ƒ I can't wait to be able to own one of these magnificent creatures. ❀️ Wonder how much they will cost...

123321 • 21 May 2010, 5:00 PM

I HAVE to save up a LOT of money..

lynncrow • 21 May 2010, 5:00 PM

cant wait *runs to go feed* you guys can feed my list (15) or everyone and i will feed back ^^

silverserpent • 21 May 2010, 5:01 PM

@auraboros I hope not. That'll be impossible. 1 million maybe...

123321 • 21 May 2010, 5:01 PM

I'll click all day today!!

wolf-obsessor • 21 May 2010, 5:01 PM

Sure hope not Auraboros, it would take ages for ONE person to reach that much EC. That would just be crazy.

elluwah • 21 May 2010, 5:02 PM

Wow. That's all I can say right now o_O WOW. The Calla. Wow.
