The Feather That Changed It All

To the residents of Ark City and all of the wonderful inhabitants of Ark: today is a day of historic proportions. Today is a day that, I believe, will never be topped so long as this beautiful island exists. I am here to announce that, with the help of the successful funding from thousands of Ark residents, we have genetically reconstructed a full, living Calla creature from the mysterious Feather that once puzzled us.

Today is not only a day where we can marvel at nature's wonders, but a day where we commemorate the gift of science and its power. Science is not simply an understanding of the world around us. Science is a tool we can use to advance good. However, we must recognize that science can also be abused and that we may overstep our bounds. The good that we advance with science today is the Calla: a creature that will add to Ark's biodiversity and human enjoyment.

For those of you who do not know, on November 11, 2009, the Science and Research Center discovered a mysterious Feather we believed may be linked to the Calla. After 500 million EC in graciously-given funding, we purchased the appropriate equipment to analyze this feather. Thankfully, our hunch was correct. Contained within the Feather are chromosomes and DNA that are extremely similar to both eagles and horses. After extracting this DNA from the feather and injecting this DNA into a living animal cell, it grew and grew into a full Calla that The Archives told us existed.

Calla are a majestic cross between an eagle and a horse. They are able to soar high to dangerous elevations; elevations where humans would normally die due to the scarcity of oxygen. Not only can they fly and transport humans by air from their eagle heritage, but they pack an extremely dangerous punch with their back hooves if an attack occurs. Calla are loyal only to the first human it lays its sight on.

The Science and Research Center have made 5 functional Calla. More can, and will, be made. This process, naturally, is extremely costly and expensive. Only the most privileged of Ark citizens will be able to afford to own a Calla.

Join us, Thursday, May 27, at 5:00 pm ECT for the release of the first Calla into the wild. You will see it in all of its splendor. After the release, Calla will be available for purchase at the Science and Research Center (for EC).

This Feather is magnificent. It's the Feather that changed it all.
