The Feather That Changed It All

To the residents of Ark City and all of the wonderful inhabitants of Ark: today is a day of historic proportions. Today is a day that, I believe, will never be topped so long as this beautiful island exists. I am here to announce that, with the help of the successful funding from thousands of Ark residents, we have genetically reconstructed a full, living Calla creature from the mysterious Feather that once puzzled us.

Today is not only a day where we can marvel at nature's wonders, but a day where we commemorate the gift of science and its power. Science is not simply an understanding of the world around us. Science is a tool we can use to advance good. However, we must recognize that science can also be abused and that we may overstep our bounds. The good that we advance with science today is the Calla: a creature that will add to Ark's biodiversity and human enjoyment.

For those of you who do not know, on November 11, 2009, the Science and Research Center discovered a mysterious Feather we believed may be linked to the Calla. After 500 million EC in graciously-given funding, we purchased the appropriate equipment to analyze this feather. Thankfully, our hunch was correct. Contained within the Feather are chromosomes and DNA that are extremely similar to both eagles and horses. After extracting this DNA from the feather and injecting this DNA into a living animal cell, it grew and grew into a full Calla that The Archives told us existed.

Calla are a majestic cross between an eagle and a horse. They are able to soar high to dangerous elevations; elevations where humans would normally die due to the scarcity of oxygen. Not only can they fly and transport humans by air from their eagle heritage, but they pack an extremely dangerous punch with their back hooves if an attack occurs. Calla are loyal only to the first human it lays its sight on.

The Science and Research Center have made 5 functional Calla. More can, and will, be made. This process, naturally, is extremely costly and expensive. Only the most privileged of Ark citizens will be able to afford to own a Calla.

Join us, Thursday, May 27, at 5:00 pm ECT for the release of the first Calla into the wild. You will see it in all of its splendor. After the release, Calla will be available for purchase at the Science and Research Center (for EC).

This Feather is magnificent. It's the Feather that changed it all.

@wolf-obsessor Yes, it would indeed be crazy. XD

silverserpent • 21 May 2010, 5:02 PM

I sure hope it's really cool looking after all of this... Otherwise I'll be sooo disappointed! XD

pedlimwen • 21 May 2010, 5:02 PM

... let the feeding frenzy begin!

wolf-obsessor • 21 May 2010, 5:03 PM

And if one person could make even just 1mil in 1 day, it would take that person 100 days to reach that. I highly doubt it's 100mil.

joy • 21 May 2010, 5:03 PM

I'm interested to see if the Mo will still be the most sought after creature, or is everyone going to trade their Mo's for Calla? ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

wendiena • 21 May 2010, 5:04 PM

i'm sure you're right wolf-obsessor๐Ÿ˜Š

elluwah • 21 May 2010, 5:06 PM

Ahh, just under a week until the 5 are released. These next few days shall draaaaag xD

silverserpent • 21 May 2010, 5:07 PM

@elluwah Oh, yes, they will... XD

elluwah • 21 May 2010, 5:07 PM

Ah, no, maybe it's not 5 released. *re-reads the text*

sunshine4562 • 21 May 2010, 5:08 PM

A Mo would still be rare because the Mo isn't available in CS or Costs EC to get it. It's only available in the cave at rarest times.

elluwah • 21 May 2010, 5:08 PM

Argh, I'm confused xD Right, so, next Thursday the Calla's are coming. That's enough information for me ^__^

Orderedchaos • 21 May 2010, 5:09 PM

*squeee* Well looks like I might go back to feeding all of everyone's eggs that feed mine. Wonder how much it will cost.

elluwah • 21 May 2010, 5:11 PM

I REALLY hope we don't crash the server again xD I remember when the Balrog's were promised... Lol, we were so desperate then ๐Ÿ˜‹

auraboros • 21 May 2010, 5:12 PM

Well, one things for sure: No more wasting EC on backgrounds for me. ๐Ÿ˜‹

sunshine4562 • 21 May 2010, 5:14 PM

@Aura: Im with you on that.

lynncrow • 21 May 2010, 5:17 PM

hmm...i would still keep my mo and i would just work to get the calla ^^

galewinds • 21 May 2010, 5:19 PM

wonder how much a genetically engineered bird will cosy?

Orderedchaos • 21 May 2010, 5:21 PM

@gale My guess would be around 1 mil.

galewinds • 21 May 2010, 5:23 PM

that works for me, no Calla fund meant lots of EC and nothing to do with it.

Orderedchaos • 21 May 2010, 5:25 PM

Same here. ๐Ÿ˜Š And there are only so many travels you can buy.

dino_girl88 • 21 May 2010, 5:26 PM

I hope everyone that donated EC can get a calla.

galewinds • 21 May 2010, 5:27 PM

oh yeah, tired of BGs, and need something new. Wonder how it will hatch

galewinds • 21 May 2010, 5:27 PM

we had better, lol. some of us donated millions

Orderedchaos • 21 May 2010, 5:29 PM

I never kept track of how much I donated in total but I know it was up there.

exempje1 • 21 May 2010, 5:29 PM

Woah. o.o

galewinds • 21 May 2010, 5:29 PM

a cross between and eagle and a horse?

galewinds • 21 May 2010, 5:30 PM

rethinking wanting one....sigh, wait and see....

exempje1 • 21 May 2010, 5:31 PM

How do we get one, I read it, but it isn't clear enough. >.<

Orderedchaos • 21 May 2010, 5:32 PM

@exempje Sounds like we can buy them at the S&R starting next Thursday and that they will be expensive.

exempje1 • 21 May 2010, 5:32 PM

There are 5 Calla's, but there will be more, right? o_o

galewinds • 21 May 2010, 5:33 PM

I don't like the word privileged...or the number 5

exempje1 • 21 May 2010, 5:33 PM

Hopefully I'll be on Thursday.

vampire666 • 21 May 2010, 5:34 PM

View steal before I get off for a while. ๐Ÿ˜Š

smilies • 21 May 2010, 5:34 PM

Oh no! They are probably going to be 100K each, because that's how much it cost the S&RC;! โ˜น๏ธ โ˜น๏ธ I'll never afford one anyway โ˜น๏ธ

auraboros • 21 May 2010, 5:35 PM

Those of us who donated millions should get either one for free or a discount. xD

Orderedchaos • 21 May 2010, 5:35 PM

It looks like there will be 5 to start with and more later. At least that is how I interpret it.

galewinds • 21 May 2010, 5:36 PM

I don't think how much we gave was recorded Aura

auraboros • 21 May 2010, 5:39 PM

Yeah, I don't think so either. ๐Ÿ˜‹ It was just wishful thinking. ^^

wolf-obsessor • 21 May 2010, 5:39 PM

Everyone is so concerned with the price. And with getting one. I'm not even worried about it, Lol. ๐Ÿ˜ธ

galewinds • 21 May 2010, 5:39 PM

I think I will skip Thursday's event, I don't see a reason to be here if there are only going to be 5 released on that day

wolf-obsessor • 21 May 2010, 5:40 PM

I took it as, They are releasing one, but after that anyone can buy them. Not limited to just 5. Idk.

galewinds • 21 May 2010, 5:40 PM

let someone who is sure they really want them get them. I am just going to wait and see before I spend EC on something I may not like

Orderedchaos • 21 May 2010, 5:41 PM

Meh. We'll see what happens when it happens.

lynncrow • 21 May 2010, 5:42 PM

there will be more than five im sure ^^

wolf-obsessor • 21 May 2010, 5:42 PM

I heard there used to be a picture of the Calla in the archives, but it was taken down. I Like the coloring of the egg, depending on the --

galewinds • 21 May 2010, 5:42 PM

true Ordered, lately there have only been a few new releases I liked, so I usually wait and see

wolf-obsessor • 21 May 2010, 5:43 PM

price, I might get one. But if it's really expensive..I'm not planning on getting one until I know what it looks like. Same as you, Gale.

smilies • 21 May 2010, 5:44 PM

Whoops, 100K's not a lot at all! I MEANT 100MIL!!!! LOL

snowyball • 21 May 2010, 5:44 PM

Wonder how much it will cost

Orderedchaos • 21 May 2010, 5:45 PM

I have a feeling that the server will crash on Thursday due to all the lag.
