Hands on her hips, she whipped her head around to face Silic. "Hey! If he gets a good job, I get a good job." Rei jabbed a thumb at herself as she said it matter-of-factly. "There's got to be something useful I can do that isn't boring...Hmm, again, which brings me back to the question of who I was before this stupid Maze dilemma...." She pondered for a moment, studying the wall. "I...Guess I can cook....A little. But..." She glanced at Reno. "Nah. You guys already have one of those..." Just what else would give her a good chance? "Ummm.....I'm pretty fit, you know. Any hard work that /doesn't/ involve too much labor?" She threw the idea out there. [Man, don't I sound demanding! But it's just best to get what I want now, so I won't end up regretting it later.] Although her chances seemed slim, Rei managed to level her eyes with Silic's as she waited impatiently for a reply, determination clear upon her dark eyes. [C'mon now, give me something totally awesome to do! I'm tired of being left out and bored!]

Rei glanced at Jasper with her horrified mouth agape. [There's no way I'm going to be working with /him/ for the rest of my...Short?...Life!!!!] "Err...." She turned to Siggy. "Well, what are /you/ going to be?!" Challenge was written upon her face. Siggy grimanced slightly at her body language, and felt sudden urge to back away. [Too bad there's a wall behind me...] "I-Isn't it...Obvious? My body frame consists of how my genes structured together when I was..Born. And that product happens to consist of physical weaknesses of a...Err, well, very high range. Running is simply not a very wise option for me, so I choose the lesser of two evils. Building. I know how to use tools to some degree, but I'm more into drawing plans up for structure, foundation, and security measures. Along with just the basic measurements themselves. So, I take it you'll choose being this so-called, 'Runner' then?" He had said it innocently enough. But Rei's head felt like it was about to fall off. She backed away from his personal space with nothing more than a stern glare. Then she turned to Silic. "That's right! I want to be a Runner!....

Uhhh, just what is a Runner, anyway?"

After Silic's extremely detailed explanation that a Runner basically ran out of the safety of the Glade, might bump into Grievers, and had to try to find a way out of the Maze, Rei's bravado fell slightly. "It...Sounds kind of exciting...And terrifying at the same time..." She said slowly. "Uhh, I /might/ have to weigh my options....I mean, it's certainly not a boring job, but...I'm pretty sure I could get killed out there...I...Didn't you say we had to be trained first by a mentor or something? I mean....I don't think I could out there all alone yet....B-but, not that I couldn't do it! I just...Need some time to think it over..." [Great job being indecisive...] Rei realized how meek she sounded. She turned slightly to glance at Siggy undetected...And he was already staring at her, an eyebrow raised. "You're seriously not thinking about working with me, right?" Or Jasper. He might have whispered it, it might have been something left unsaid, but Rei knew that's what he had intended. "No way! Give me that Runner job! I can /totally/ handle it, and I definately won't come crawling to you if I get in trouble!!! I. Can. Take. Care. Of. Myself." She enunciated, her hands jerking every which way. Siggy had to learn, she wasn't a damsel in distress. And if she /did/ happen to be in distress, she certainly wouldn't be a damsel.

Siggy jerked his head up slightly at the sound of Silic snickering. "What's that point in laughing about death?" He said abruptly. A strange disturbed emotion flitted silently through his features. A slight glare, if not confused look was in place. [I mean, even if it /is/ someone as intolerable as Rei...That's not even funny...] He brushed his bangs back and took a step forward. "Well, you might have just been laughing at Rei's...Err, outburst...But, don't you understand the cost of a life? Everyone here, in this place, is valuable to everyone's survival, including yours." His thin body relaxed slightly. Siggy hadn't even realized he'd been tense. Just what was that, anyway? [Could is perhaps be....A connection? To...To my past?...]--

To defend ourselves from those....Grieving things? What do they look like exactly? Do you have any bodies around that we could examine?..." A muscle in his jaw twitched from nervousness. They must have been pretty revolting for everyone show an unpleasant face at their mention. "How do they...Try to kill you? I mean, you just warned Rei they were the worst enemy you could come across in the Maze. They...You're sure they can't, you know, get in? I realize those huge metal walls are there...But still, is there a chance? Any chance at all?..."
