"Duh, you idiot!" Berrypaw chirped cheerfully. "We're going out to hunt!" And she darted out of the fern tunnel, barreling into Nightstar.

He crouched down, his tail almost high in the air, waving back and forth.

Nightstar walked up to the apprentices. "Well, I'm sure that we could work on stalking for a bit, and then we'll try it on real prey. Stormpaw, you can brush up on your skills for a bit, but if you feel like hunting a mouse or two, feel free, just stay around here." She gestured to the sandy clearing covered in mist.

"You're not FireClan anymore!" Nightstar snarled and bowled him over, pinning him down. Her voice turned to a dangerously soft whisper. "Daisystar mentioned you at the Gathering. We KNOW you have been exiled. You have no place to go, and NightClan have been generous. We have given you a place to stay. We are allowing you to train with the other apprentices, just as you should. And you choose to insult the Clan that has had mercy on you." Nightstar hissed and let him up. "Berrypaw!" She called. "We're going back to camp. After all, this has been... quite a walk."

Stormpaw's eyes grew wide. She knew! Dasiystar. When he heard her say Dasiystar, his anger for her grew more. "But she didn't tell you why, did she?"

Nightstar smiled coldly. "You tried to kill another apprentice, is that right?" Her eyes glinted and her voice changed to a snarl. "Think yourself lucky." And she whipped around to plunge into the undergrowth, returning a moment later with Shadepelt and Hazelpaw, who bounded over to Berrypaw.

Stormpaw smiled. "Close." he got closer to Nightstar, and they were nose-to-nose. "My leader, my mother, my sister, the med cat Jayfur, one of the elders and a kit that is one moon old." he sneer, even though he knew he could kill Dasiystar if he tried.

Nightstar sighed. "I wouldn't hold it against you if you tried to kill Jayfur, but we have a right mind to kill you right here. Right NOW." Nightstar walked into the brush, and weaved her way around the camp, so when they walked in, Shadepelt pushed Stormpaw into the tunnel, and Pineleaf and Flamewave watched him with icy stares.

"Father!" Heavystep yowled. He walked over to Stormpaw and plopped himself down. He narrowed his eyes, inwardly laughing. "Now, young 'un, my eyesight may be going bad, but certainly not my hearing!" the elder chortled. He prodded Stormpaw with a paw and leaned in close. "Now, I been hearin' some rumors 'bout Jayfur, 'cept the thing is, they 'ain't rumors anymore! Jayfur should be kicked out of FireClan. Not saying you should, although you have been, but Jayfur's broken the warrior code almost as much as you!" Nightstar fixed the old tom with a glare, but it didn't silence him. He only seemed to get the message.
"Yes." Nightstar agreed, taking over Heavystep's rant. "There is no place for a cat who has broken the code..." Her voice trailed off, and she led Stormpaw to his nest in the roots of the old tree.

Stormpaw purred. "Hey!" he mewed. "I may be an apprentice, but I love hearing stories! But uh, hey, old cat, uh, can you tell me some of the rumers; and I can tell all of NightClan about FireClan in return." he saids, this time he wasn't lieing. "I can tell you how they win sometimes!"

Nightstar's ears pricked, hearing the sincerity in Stormpaw's voice. She flicked her tail to show the Clan to get on with their normal duties, but some cats gathered around Stormpaw and Heavystep.
"Well." Heavystep mewed gruffly. "My names Heavystep, these are Squirrelhop-" he gestured to an old ginger she-cat "- and Darkfoot." A dark brown (almost black) aging tom dipped his head in greeting. These were the elders.
Heavystep settled himself down. "The first of those old rumors... Let's see..." He turned to Squirrelhop. "Oh, please." Squirrelhop complained. "Why do I have to do all the talking?" But she started anyway.
"The first... Well, the first rumor that flew around the Clans, was that Jayfur had, or, has, a mate. Now who was your mother, Stormpaw? I'm forgetting her name."

"Well, there was that one. He's had kits, and also mates in his lifetime. But then there was the other one. Don't you remember?" She prodded Heavystep who was fitfully dozing. "Huva wha...?" He stuttered, but then seemed to remember what he was doing. "Oh, yes." He mewed. "The rumor that Tallsky and Jayfur were not just mates, but littermates as well. But of course, I don't think any cat believes that." He looked at Strompaw, as if waiting for an answer.

Squirrelhop's eyes widened in surprise.
"Well, now!" She exclaimed, collecting herself again as she licked her chest fur.
"And, of course, the rumor where he has dark powers given to him by the Dark Forest, and that's why there are so many prophecies about Daisystar's kits. Now I'm almost completely sure that one is just some bit of tough to swallow mouse talking through the voice of a cat."

He shakes his head. "I know my father to much."
His tail twiched. "And about FireClan battles..."
His eyes glowed. "I can make FireClan attack you guys, expect for kits and queens and elders. I can teach you. I'll tell them that the battle is tomarrow." he gazes at Nightstar hopefully.

"I would think FireClaw, unless we can harness its powers like Windpaw, here." Blackflash mewed. Nightstar nodded in agreement. "At the last Gathering, Brokenfur was teaching Windpaw a FireClan move. Windpaw somehow got past the pain of fire in his blood, and harnessed the power to use it against his enemy." Nightstar praised her Clanmate.
"I don't really know how I did it..." Windpaw shuffled his paws embarassedly, glancing at Stormpaw as if he knew the answer.

Windpaw stiffened with pain. he tried to remember what he'd done at the Gathering. With all the courage he could muster, he braced himself against the pain, and felt the power of fire coursing through his veins. The little sparks of fir were catching in his mind. Windpaw couldn't hold the tension back much longer, and the Clan watched intently, seeing what he would do. Finally, his imagined sparks caught fire. He leaped at Stormpaw, with extra power in his leap, his claws feeling like they could slice anything and not get broken or chipped. His imagined fire was roaring heat. He forced himself to keep his claws in and step off of Stormpaw. Windpaw was gasping for breath.
