Stormpaw padded up to the gaurds. "Hi." he meowed. "Can I give Spiderbite some prey?"

Spiderfang looked up from beside Spiderbite's nest. "Yeah, sure Stormpaw."
Wildheart rolled over to the side to make room for Stormpaw to get through to his brother. Daisyclaw walked over from the other side of the clearing, with Bearkit trailing behind her. "Hi Marshkit!" he mewed, scampering up to his new friend.

Stormpaw purred, and handed his brother a squirrel. He spotted Bearkit.
"Hey, Bearkit! Come here!" Stormpaw called.

Spiderbite ate the squirrel. He spotted at a kit sitting beside a warrior, Darkfoot.
"Hi, there, little one!" he purred.

Bearkit went wide-eyed, and glanced at Marshkit beside him. Marshkit smiled, so Bearkit responded to Stormpaw. "Hey, Stormpaw." he mewed.
Marshkit flicked his ears. "Hey there, warrior! What's it like in FireClan?"

Across the clearing Hazelpaw twitched her whiskers, resisting the urge to call out a warning to the kit.
"Relax." Berrypaw told her sister. "Those silly toms are just trying to have some fun." she winked.

"No way!" Marshkit jumped back, nearly flattening Bearkit. "I'm nearly as big as Hazelpaw!"
Hazelpaw looked at Marshkit as he said her name. "Don't listen to him, Marshkit!" she grinned. "Stormpaw pulled the same trick on us when we were kits!"
Berrypaw doubled over in laughter as Marshkit's face went through a variety of expressions before he started complaining. "You wouldn't eat me, not when all of my Clanmates are here! My mother would rip off your ears and tail for that!"

Sunpaw murmured something inaudible and padded out of the camp to hunt.

"Yeah, and besides, it was RiverClan that started that rumor!" Graystorm protested. "An apprentice told everyone at the Gathering. I guess queens just used that tale to keep their kits in place."

Crowpaw shook his head. "Things like the respect of their clan." He glanced back as to where his clan was. "They'll do something foolish and make the rest of their clan seem like idiots." He began to choke up in his words. "I'm afraid that, as a young medicine cat, if I slip up the rest of the clan will pay the price for my mistake."

He looked up at Owleyes. The older medicine cat looked so much wiser than he. "Have you felt that way?"

I won't be on for 4 days after this, just to let you know. Vacation 😉

Looking into the young apprentice's eyes, Owleyes himself remembered the first day he had been a medicine cat. He had felt all the pairs of NightClan eyes watching, wishing him to be the best he could be, but it had been too much. He remember that look on Peachblossom's face too. Courage, confidence, and yet, a worm of fear that wriggled through her heart, turning it black with worry.
"Crowpaw, almost every medicine cat feels that way when they are young and have much to learn. The task that lies ahead for them is alarmingly daunting. The likelihood you will make a mistake will minimize as you grow older and learn new skills."
