Lily then backed up. She did not want to leave her child, but she did not want to risk it's life either. So she stayed where she was.

Okay, this was wrong. A Meowth was holding its claws at the Linoone's chokd! Bolt wasted no time. She leapt into the open and unleashed a Quick Attack at the Meowth. Thunderbolt was too risky.

Okay, now it was safe. Bolt uses Thunder on the Persian that attacked her. But where did the kid go? She saw it under a paw of another Persian. Maybe she could sneak up on it..
