The Lost Island (Literate Roleplay)

Darkness. Your eyelids feel heavy, yet somehow, you manage to force them open. Pain. Your head feels as if it will explode. Realization. The lapping of the waves on the sandy shore remind you of the events... Being tranquillized and brought here... You always knew you were different. You never fit in. But you didn't want to go away.

You didn't want to be torn away from everything you knew. Everyone you loved. You didn't want to be called a threat to the country. Nor did you want to be called a freak. But here you are. Abandoned. Alone. Terrified. How will you survive?

This roleplay is about a group of people, all of whom have special abilities. The government has acted and isolated all of them on an island to keep the world 'safe.'

RULES:

- This is a LITERATE roleplay.
- A seven sentence minimum in posts.
- PM April about joining.
- No Mary Sues.
- Character must be at least 16.
- Your powers can't be invincible. Powerful abilities require a weakness.
- Two powers only. If your character is 19 or over, PM April about possibly adding a third.

CURRENT SETTING:

We awaken on a beach. There is a forest in the distance, with a bunch of large rocks. There are no cliffs/water as far as we can tell yet. We are unsure of the animals on the island. If you wish to find something, like a stream, wild animal or ect, please PM April first.

Gender: Female
Age: 19
Personality: Charlie's a harsh individual whom doesn't sugar coat things. She appears to be rough, and doesn't show much emotion. She truly has the best interests of everyone at heart, even if her decisions don't reflect it.

Appearance: Charlie has darkish blonde hair with green eyes. She's about 5'6, and fairly fit.

Abilities:
1. She's a shape-shifter and can turn into any creature she thinks of but favours only a couple. When she shifts, she has a hard time controlling animal instincts and often reacts rashly.
2. She can move things with her mind. So far, she can only move small rocks and things she can lift in one hand and this leaves her with a headache.

Personality: Alex is complete opposite from her older sister. She's a very happy person, despite all the stress. She is playful, and would rather have fun than work. She likes to joke around, and tease. She enjoys having friends, and will give anyone a hug.

Appearance: Alex has light blonde hair, and blueish gray eyes. She stands at 5'4 and is naturally tanned, taking more after her father than Charlie.

Abilities:
1. Alex can help plants to grow within hours, right from planting a small seed. This often drains her though, and she can't do this too often.
2. She can control fire. By snapping her fingers can cause it to appear in her hands. This ability is hard for her to control, and can result in accidental injuries when her temper flares. This doesn't happen too often, luckily.

Personality (not optional): The kind to easily lose himself in space, Nicholas is what you'd call an airhead. You'll never meet anyone with worse time-management skills, guaranteed. Thanks to his looks and general aura, he is usually sterotyped as the "nerdy, bookish" type, which couldn't be further from the truth, but like most things, it doesn't really bother him. He is, however, once made, a loyal friend who will always stand up for you, although never himself.
History: Never knew his father and his mother died when he was only about 6, so he can barely remember her. He and his elder brother were sent to live with their previously unknown-to-them uncle. This status didn't really change on moving in, or any number of years later, for the uncle was practically never at home and instead, Niick's brother looked after him. This same brother disappeared about a year ago without a trace. I'll add to this later ^w^
Appearance: Close-cropped, dirty blonde hair, hazel eyes speckled with green flecks. Has a slightly jagged scar on his left cheek, running diagonally down (your) left to right. Doesn't look strong or sporty, but he's a fairly fast runner.

Abilities: If Nick stands quite still, he can fade into the background or become invisible. However, he can only do this so long as he holds his breath, and obviously can't use it to run away, etc.
He {will be able to} extend on this by concentrating on a small area of his body and it will not only become invisible but fade into nothing~ while he's concentrating on the area, say his hand, it will cease to exist, for as long as he can keep it up, without blinking.
This power has {potential} to progress even after that until he can turn his entire body into a gaseous state (think Dracula, no, not the modern one with the bats, the fog). But he's not near good enough yet.

Personality: Rude and unmannered, results of her past, she tends to pick fights quite easily and is infamous for her short temper. She can 'fire up' for the silliest reasons and she often does. She's usually thought of as no brain and all brawn and that is partially true. She is gullible and too trustworthy for her own good. Trying to reason with her is a hard task and she often stubborn as a donkey. She always tends to understand things the wrong way and confuses people.
History: I'll keep that a secret because it exceeds the word limit. XD
Appearance: Petite and athletic, with a hint of muscle. Pale skin and piercing inky black eyes, one lighter than the other. Shoulder lenhgt coal black hair and bangs of the same colour. Her clothes are usually a beige top and a pair of black jeans and gray hoodie.

Abilities: Born with the fire element, she has a partial control of it and is capable of fiddling with it to make different shapes, formed from flames. Despite that, she rarely (next to never) uses her powers, simply because her fire is linked to her life energy, when one is impoverished, so is the other and that could be a life threat.
Other: She is an asthmatic. That is quite inconvenient for her since her fire element is powered by air. When she lacks air, she cannot use her powers.

Personality: She is dark and very sarcastic. She often seems cold to other people, but she is very protective over Lupa. She does not have a sense of humor.

History:

Appearance: Nyx has long black hair that is a little wavy. Her eyes are light blue. She has pale skin, due to the fact that she stays in the shadow for most of her time. She is very tall and skinny. She wears dark clothes.

Abilities:

SHADOW-WALKING

She hides in the shadows unseen. No one can see her (except for Lupa) because she has pretty much turned into a shadow. She is faster in the shadows, but she can only turn invisible in shadows. If she spends too much time in the shadows, she is very hyper and crazy and cannot understand other people.

Personality: She was pretty bubbly and happy, but due to some events (see history) she has been a bit more rebellious. She isn't crazy-rebellious, though. She is very clumsy and a little lazy, but she is pretty happy most of the time. She hates being reminded of her size. She hates Jag. (see history)

History: She lived a normal life until one day, she was bullied and in a fit of rage, she electrocuted the bullies. She was then covered up for by Nyx and Jag, who told everyone that she died in a car crash.

Jag also killed her other siblings when he got angry.

Appearance: Blonde hair with blue bangs. She is generally small, not short, but small. She has some muscle but she often does not use it. Her eyes are also blue, and she has tan skin.

Abilities: She can electrocute other people, but it takes a lot of her energy to do so and she often faints afterwords. She also has X-Ray vision, but after using it for too long, she gets very bad migraines.

Personality: Andrew's personality varies at most, but he can be very quiet and he usually cracks a joke at the worst time. He's optimistic, and very loyal to close friends. He likes being a follower instead of a leader.
History: Lived with his family, had a girlfriend, but always felt strange in hospitals or near anyone sick or in pain. His parents reported this to the government and he was brought here.
Appearance: Tall, he has shaggy brown hair and sharp hazelnut eyes. His torso & legs are long and lean whereas his arms are skinny.
Abilities:
Healing; Up to major wounds, but only for a short period of time before passing out.

Personality Kira can come off as the quiet type; she tends to see herself as a loner and doesn't feel the need to fill in empty silences. She won't just go up to someone and just start talking. Some people might mistake her as being shy, but that's not the case. She simply just doesn't care. She's extremely easy to make mad. Maybe, this is a side effect from being a redhead. However, if you do become her friend she can show a completely new warmhearted side. She isn't afraid to stand up for what she believes in and would stand by her friends until the end. It's just hard for you to become one that she trusts.
History: Long story.
Appearance: Kira has long, dark red hair that goes down to her lower back. She stands at 5'5" and weighs around 118lbs. She has beautiful bright green eyes and pale skin. Her closet consists of; jeans, tank tops, and jackets. She would never in a million year be caught wearing a skirt or the color pink. She refuses to wear girly girl clothes, but she also refuses to wear anything baggy like a tomboy. She's simply something in between. Most of the time you can find her with her hood up, listening to her iPod ignoring everyone.

Abilities: She has the elemental power to control and create fire. She's come to realize that she is closer bonded to her element when she is trying protect someone/thing. On the other hand when she is angry her element is at its strongest point, but she has trouble controlling it. Each time she uses her element it leaves her very weak and she cannot handle it very long.

Personality: Josh is a laid back guy, not much can get on his nerves. Not many people can recall seeing him lose his temper. He likes to mend the peace in arguments and always looks at both sides before adding any comments in.
History His whole life he has been an athletic playing in sports, jogging, surfing and going on hikes. However with having super strength he was not able to play certain sports such as football. It always worried him that he might hurt the other players.
Appearance: Josh has short black hair, bluish green eyes, and sun kissed tan skin. He stands at 5'9 and weighs around 148lbs.
Abilities: 1) Super strength. Josh has learned that he some times has bursts of unbelievable strength. He cannot fully control when he get it yet and every time he does it leaves him very exhausted.

Personality: Sylvia is usually quiet and keeps to herself, but if she believes someone is friendly or likes them, she will be nice and ussually hyper active. She is afraid of spiders, and when provoked she can kill withought hesitation.
History:
Appearance: Sylvia has black elbow length , wavy black hair and dark greenish-blue eyes. She is pale and has bangs covering her eyes.
Abilities:
1) She has the ability to interact with otherworldly beings. This power means Clariaudience and Extrasensory Perception. She is basically a medium. She can hear the actual voices of spirit guides and others from the spirit world and can gain information from spirits and demons around us without connecting physically or verbally with them. This also includes gaining information from objects or items around her that are being held or touched.
2) She can control the element Ice. This includes frost, and water. She can not move water on it's own, but can freeze it or anything related.

Gender: Female
Age: 17
Personality: Ella is loud and outgoing almost all the time. She is very loyal to her friends, and usually keeps her good friends for life. However, if she thinks bad of someone, she'll be very unfriendly towards them. Ella's personality can change randomly: sometimes she will be her usual self but other times she will be mean to everyone. She is a great fighter but has some flaws: she doesn't like torture for anybody and she isn't good with guns. Her aim sucks. Though, she can kill with a dagger.
History: Ella has always stood out among everyone else, but she hasn't figured out why. She has no idea of her abilities.
Appearance: Ella has white-blonde short, wavy hair that reaches about past her chin. Her eyes are bright, light blue and she has pale skin. She is about 5'4".
Abilities: Ella has the ability to mimic the abilities of certain animals; such as her skin can turn poisonous like that of a dart frog. These abilities sound extremely powerful, but usually they are not so useful, and she doesn't have much control over them. Like, she will almost never get an ability to, say, inject poison into her enemies. Ella is lucky when these abilities come to use. Her other power has not been found yet. Mutations with her original power may occur.

Charlie groaned. Oh how her head hurt. She flicked her eyes open and squeezed them shut quite quickly again. The sunlight was way too bright. Biting her lip she rolled over. Why was she here? Where was here?

Sand. She felt sand. Half awake, she rubbed the sand off her arms or attempted to. It didn't want to go any where. Her voice hoarse, she opened her mouth to call out, "Hello?"

It took her awhile but somehow she managed to get into a sitting position, her eyes still closed. That's when it all came back to her. The government. The scientists... Alex... Where was her sister?

"ALEX?" she called out in a panic, flying to her feet, very suddenly awake. Squinting, she opened her eyes to take everything in.

Their own parents... Her own parents had sent her to the lab. How could they?

"Alexandra!" she yelled. Calling her sister by her full name always got her attention.

She waited. Hoping her sister was there... She had to be. She was all she had left.

Name: Fang Slythe
Gender: Male
Age: 16
Personality: Fang is an cheerful person, despite his rather vicious appearance. He is often happy and has never been seen to have done anything bad. Mysterious.
History:
Appearance: Fang has cardinal colored hair. It is a dark red, crimson color that looks almost black. He has red eyes the color of blood. His hair hangs down to right beneath his ears, and longer strands of hair(like bangs) on the front side of his head that get in his eyes.
Abilities:
1) He can not feel pain. Oftentimes, when he gets cut or hurt, people think that he just does not want to show the pain. In reality, he only feels a small, tiny, sting if the cut is major enough. He is not immortal, and if he loses any limbs he will be able to feel pain but not as much.
2) Fang can go through solid objects like walls or trees. If he were to go through a wall, it would look like his body was melting into the wall, but he was really just going to the other side.
3) He can sense when bad things will happen. Examples include someones death, or the loss of sanity. He can not specify past the gender.

Bic: The sound of yelling filled Kira's ear, along with the sound of waves. "Where am I?" She mumbled as she flickered her eyes open. She looked around to see she was surrounded by sand and water. Surprised she sat up. Not far away the shapes of people stood on a beach, one was yelling someone's name.

That's when it hit her, the memories of how she got here. Some strange guy had blind folded her. A sharp sting as they shot something in her arm. Then waking up weak on the beach, she had managed to drag herself out of the water before it all went black.

Fear shot through her. "This can not be happening. There must be a mistake!" She whispered as she slowly tumbled to her feet, blacking out for a split second at the sudden change. "I've got to get home, my mom will be worried sick!" She mumbled as she stumbled towards the people.

Bright light shone in Andrew's eyes, and he suddenly thought he was in heaven.
But something was wrong... dirt that was gritty was suck to him and he felt heavy. Like, water-logged heavy... bringing up a hand to shield his eyes from the bright sunlight, he heard a scream of someone's name. Alexis? No... Alexandra. He groaned and turned onto his side, to sit up.
What?
Water was lapping at his feet, and he smelt salt in the air. Ocean.
What?
Suddenly, a flood of memories passed before his eyes and he had to lie down again.
What?
When the memory flood diminished, he blinked and realized his breathing was terribly uneven. Inhaling through his nose, exhaling through his mouth, Andrew's headache increased.
What?
The question echoed in his head,
What happened?
The memories of the government agency, the loading of the plane and then the tranquilizer then this.
"What?"
Andrew croakly voiced out loud, sitting up.
After a coughing fit, he tried to swallow and groggily pulled himself away from the high tide.

Ella slowly opened her eyes, then shut them quickly. The sun was too bright.
Instead, she focused on her sense of touch. Itchy sand seemed to coat her whole body, and warm water lapped over her legs.
That was enough to get her to open her eyes again. Ella tiredly looked around and then it hit her.
Being taken, shoved into a black bag and told to keep quiet, or die. The sound of plane engines starting up, and her stomach sinking, knowing she wasn't going to get home anytime soon.. maybe not ever. And then the opening of the bag and the tranquilizer needle going into her arm. Sinking into blackness.
And now Ella was in the middle of the ocean, on some small piece of land, with no knowledge of anything else.
Someone was calling another person's name. Ella stood up groggily and staggered after the noise. After several hundred feet, she saw the girl screaming her sister's name.
"Who are you?" Ella yelled, and questions overflowed her mind. Where was she, who was the other girl, why was she here, and most of all, what the heck happened?!

Alex awoke from her seemingly peaceful sleep when she heard the yelling around her.

Oh how her head pounded.

"This is not the way to wake one up," she muttered her eyes flying open. That's when she realized she wasn't in her bed. She was... on a beach?

"Charlie?" she called out, coughing suddenly.

"ALEX!" She barely had time to register Charlie's response when she felt her sister collide with her. "You're okay!" came Charlie's relieved response.

"Mhm," Alex said, rubbing her eyes. That's when she saw the other people around her. "Why are we here?"

Charlie spun around to see a girl, speaking with her. "Charlie," she responded to the girls question. "I'm Charlie, who are you?"

The stress. The headache. The confusion. Alex was barely aware of her hands flaming, creating an illusion to make it appear she was on fire.

"Is everyone okay?" Charlie called out, hoping that everyone was.

Age: 19
Personality: MASSIVE temper issues. He is usually a nice guy, but he has started to get angry whenever things have annoyed him... he has a soft spot for puppies.
History: Everything was normal until one day, he lost his temper and killed his siblings. He regrets it VERY much.
Appearance: Jag is tall, strong, and muscly. He has short light brown hair. His skin is very tan.
Abilities:

1) He can turn into a wolf when he wants to and when he feels a strong emotion of some sort, especially anger. As a wolf he has a terrible temper and often goes on rampages and kills several people. If he stays a wolf for too long, he cannot change back.

Personality: Noah is a comical person. And he often cares too much. He values honesty and will hold grudges against those that lie. Despite his comical side, he often takes things too seriously.
History: Fill in later.
Appearance:Noah is 6'2, with sandy brown hair and blue eyes.
Abilities:

1) Healing. He can heal anyone he touches from a scratch to a disease. This drains him and he can not heal injuries caused by abilities. For example, if someone is burned by a fire ability or gets a headachea s a result of using theirs, he cannot heal this.

2) He can appear invisible. But only for a short amount of time.
