Safety Warning

in Chit-Chat

Deleted • 24 June 2012 at 12:17 AM

This is just a little topic about safety here on Egg Cave.

I don't think it is very safe for everyone to post pics about them selves. I mean, you can do it, but this is just a warning to you all.

You guys realize, that ANYONE, a 50 year old man who is creeping around or a 15 year old girl can see you? Egg Cave is (pretty) safe, but there are a lot of bad people on the internet. And it isn't really safe :/

And honestly, it bothers me when people start saying "ZOMG I'M SO UGLY I SUCK!" I understand, saying "I know, I'm sooo pretty" isn't good, but saying over and over again that you are ugly isn't really something that a lot of people want to hear :/

You are all free to do what you want, post pics or not, I won't judge you, but honestly -- ANYONE can see you. They will stay on the internet, etched in it FOREVER.

@blackdeathkitty totally agree

Deleted • 24 June 2012 at 12:22 AM

@1992firebirdgirl As @Asi said on the blog,

"Excuse me as I will be I barfing my stomach out while Eggcave deteriorates in another self-pitying, attention-seeking Facebook... Adios! ^^"

But really -- EVERYONE CAN SEE YOU.

@blackdeathkitty: The first point you made is exactly why I wont post my picture till I'm older or just never 😋

Deleted • 24 June 2012 at 12:23 AM

@cubexline However good the mods are here, it won't stop the fact that just about anyone can see you. I don't feel safe with showing my face to everyone, either.

@blackdeathkitty Amen to that! All I can think about when I see users posting pictures of themselves and saying they're ugly is "gosh, these people have a serious problem and low self-esteem, they urgently need a psychologist". And of course, it isn't safe to post your pictures on the internet =\

Deleted • 24 June 2012 at 12:28 AM

@shadielle Yup. It just seems like they are seeking attention :/

And -- To people who write that they are extremely ugly on the "PICS OF ME" topics, I DO NOT mean ANY offense. None. Please forgive me if it seems like that.

@blackdeathkitty

I agree. Wondered if their Parent's know they are posting their pictures? My kids are not allowed to post their pictures. All computers are in the Living Room and Dining Room. I can see what they are doing. They can only go to sites I approve. They cannot go to Chat or Forum sites,, unless I say they can 😊

@luvmykids244

It is REALLY unsafe. Honestly. I'm not saying that Egg Cave isn't safe, but frankly, THE INTERNET isn't safe.

@Blackdeathkitty

Someone speaks up!

I completely agree with you. The Internet is not the safest place to be posting your face. And the constant complaining about your own looks does get quite annoying. Be happy with who you are.

Deleted • 24 June 2012 at 12:51 AM

@hai Thanks for agreeing/supporting/sharing your opinion. I don't have much more to say OnO

Deleted • 24 June 2012 at 12:55 AM

@blackdeathkitty
I disagree, because honestly, how many 50-year-old men do you think there are on EggCave? xD

No, the main reason is like ... It's like a million times more likely for someone to get facebook stalked because there are more old people there. And really, from what I've seen pervy old men make up maybe ... 3% of internet liars? The rest are 15-year-olds pretending to have teh wrss leif in da wirld. So yeah.

But maybe it's just how free I am with my face. xD

Deleted • 24 June 2012 at 12:58 AM

@ijilleh

True, but these pictures will stay on the internet. FOREVER. They will never completely disappear.

I guess I'm just paranoid...My parents always tell me to never post pictures of me on sites... I've been stressed out a bit, so I'm a but paranoid.

Deleted • 24 June 2012 at 1:01 AM

@blackdeathkitty
I don't really get why that's a problem. As long as no one's gonna use that picture of me to like ... Come to my house and kidnap me and stuff I don't see why it's an issue. But that's probably just me.

Nah, I was just like you about like three years ago. xD It takes a loto f opening up and stuff andyou gotta talk to people on Facebook and things like that. It's like ... It shows you that not everyone on the internet's bad, you know? and even if you already know that hthen it'll be proof.

Sory if I'm not making sens,e I was like on htis really huge trip all last week an dI just got home but I don't feel liike going to bed.

@ijilleh

I just don't feel comfortable with random people having pictures of me. It just doesn't feel right :/

But anyways, thanks for sharing your opinion.

Deleted • 24 June 2012 at 1:04 AM

@blackdeathkitty
No problem at all. 😊 I mean I hjave no problem if you're not comfortable posting pictures of you. I just don't really see what the problem is so yeah. xD

Deleted • 24 June 2012 at 1:05 AM

@ijilleh But there ARE a ton of creepers on the internet. A lot more than you think OnO

Deleted • 24 June 2012 at 1:07 AM

@blackdeathkitty
Meh. Maybe. But as long as I don't know about any of it, and they're not trying to contact me or anything like that, I'm fine, y'know?

Deleted • 24 June 2012 at 1:09 AM

@ijilleh I guess... But anyways, thanks for sharing what you think.

Deleted • 24 June 2012 at 1:09 AM

@blackdeathkitty

@ijilleh - While it's true that not a lot of 50 year old creeper men are on Egg Cave, these kids are posting stuff on other web sites (deviantart or other sites) and people can see them there.

I personally don't have a problem with posting a picture of myself on the internet. Not everyone's a creeper, in my mind. (: I've posted my picture many a time on dA, just as many other artists do. Heck, I'm even on a brochure for the Waikiki Aquarium in Hawaii! Nobody's gone after me yet! Lol~ xD

@Ijilleh It's just that.... Unlike well, my whole SCHOOL (seriously, check out the computer rooms... >.> ) I go on Eggcave instead of Facebook because I hate all these people who are prettier than me going on about their insecurities without thinking about how anyone else feels! Hence, my stat 😋

Deleted • 24 June 2012 at 1:15 AM

It's creepy to post pictures of yourself on the internet, agreed. It's not safe out there. I wouldn't trust the world wide web even in a million years.

Do you have an extra? (the girls at my school are talking about this thing called one direction. My reaction?=What's that? They scream at me and start taking pictures of themselves, saying they are ugly and fat when you can see their bones.)
