Blaze scratched at some dirt in boredum. "Meh." he sighed, hoping something would come. He rolled onto his back and basked in the blazing sun that slowly settled from the trees into his black fur.

Smoke had been starting to mumble, "Spring fever?" But quickly broke off when Crescent asked him where she could find berries. "Um..." He said awkwardly. Thankfully, Vix rescued him from his awkward answer. "Your brother," Vix said turning to Angelica. "Led out a hunting patrol. They're out by the old apple tree. There might be a few berries around there still left over from harvest time. They might be good enough to eat, if you hurry."
"Er thanks." Smoke said pawing at the ground. "I'd better catch up to my patrol." He knew full well that they'd already returned to camp, but maybe he could catch up to Shadow and his friends. As he trotted off, he cast a glance back at Vix, but to his dismay, she was staring at him. He grimaced, hoping that Vix wouldn't take a hint. Smoke trotted to the apple tree, but at a faster pace than he had when he left Vix.

"Oooh, you two like each other!" Moonlight chortled happily, bouncing around Vix, and getting in between her legs. "Ok, time to go back to camp!" Vix said loudly, hoping no other fox could hear Moonlight's loud rambling, which was true, of course. "I'll tell Dandelion you've been good!" Vix plunged into the undergrowth, blushing, with Moonlight trailing not far behind, howling, "Vix and Smoke like each other, Vix and Smoke like each other!" Thankfully, the young fox shut up as they came into camp.

Crescent looked back at Angelica and nodded, saying to her, "That sounds good. Will your brother allow us to play there?" She asked, cocking her head to one side. She looked back at the male fox and said, "What's your name again? I forgot.." She said, embarrassed, "I'm sorry..."

Smoke stopped, turning around pelt prickling with embarrassment. "My name's Smoke." He told Crescent. "Er, I guess I'll see you around. Got to hunt, yep!" Smoke plunged back into the brush, branches scraping his back. Did Vix like him the same way he liked her? Remembering his blabbering back in the clearing, he chuckled to himself. "Fall fever. Not spring, fall."

Smoke dug up some roots to eat, completely embarrassed, and increasingly annoyed. Grabbing a mouthful of the roots, he turned around and stopped by the old Apple Tree to say hi to Speckles, Wolfclaw, and Shadow.
Once in camp, he settled down in his den, and gnawed on his dinner. Before the last root, however, he was full. Smoke got to his feet, and tossed the last roots into Vix's den, hoping she was still out with Moonlight. For once, he was sad that Vix's den was all the way across the clearing. "Oh, well." Smoke sighed. "That will all be fixed in time." Referring to everything that had happened today. Smoke closed his eyes, and fell asleep.

Vix appeared through the rushes to see Angelica kill the catfish. "Great catch, " she muttered to herself. "But if she wanted to make it really great, she should have gotten to a place where she could have gotten it more easily."
Vix padded to the border and looked out across StarPaw territory.
"Would it be better just to give up?" Vix wondered. "And go back to my father?"
Release the grudge that I've held against him and his pack for so long? Would Smoke understand? Could she ever leave him? Would he leave her?
She sat there pondering her question for a while before she leaped into StarPaw territory, batting at a butterfly like a puppy, but for the first time since her puppy-hood, she was happy.

Smoke fluffed up his fur. There was a chill in the air, and the Deathfangs had had their first frost a while ago. He flexed his paws, which were itching to go and hunt in the woods. He stretched, his smoky fur rippling in the slight breeze. He trotted out of camp, calling out hellos to his friends as he went.
Smoke ran into the heart of the territory, killing a rabbit and two voles as he went. He got to the marsh carrying a vole. He sat down by a large rock and started eating the rodent he had brought with him.

Smoke heard a screech. His ears pricked. Vix? Quickly, vole forgotten, he raced towards the border, seeing Vix jumping in the grass of Starpaw territory. "Vix!" He called. "Battle! Come home, quickly!"

Vix started as Smoke called her name. She stopped jumping, and pricked her ears to hear the rest of Smoke's message. "Great Vulpes!" She murmured, an old fox curse she had heard in her pup years. The ferns scarcely moved as she wound her way through them towards Smoke. She got to the border and quickly raced off. "Come on!" Vix yipped. "Let's go kill some StarPaws!"

If I can start:

Iris sprinted beside a stream, barely just skimming the ground. She rushed around a sharp bend in the stream, and halted abruptly, sending dust flying. What she saw was a small, dead Vixin lying on a rock, and a Starpaw bending over them, smiling. Her jaw dropped.
"Wha-Wha-What are you doing?"She stammered. Goosebumps pricked her body, sending shivers running. Her blood coursed through her body, and her lip, fastened itself into a sneer. She thought about yelling for others, and sat on her haunches, poised. Then she let out a long, lone howl.

Strike prowled through the forest mumbling to himself about how he shouldn't ever volenteer to do a border check again. The night was cold and a slight breeze blew in the trees above. He froze and sniffed the air. He whirled around and saw a silver tail vanish into the bushes. He followed.

Vix and Smoke exploded into the clearing, snarling like fury. Vix clamped her steel-trap jaws around a Starpaw fox's muzzle, and shook hard. She lifted a paw, and struck the fox across his cheek, sending him spiraling across the battlefield.
Smoke was fending off two attackers at a time, when he finally darted forwards, leaving the Starpaws to sink their fangs into their ally's coats as he darted beneath them. "There!" crowed Pisces, a ruddy colored vixen. She darted after Smoke, only to be confronted by a line of furious Deathfangs. "Oops." Pisces muttered. "You fool!" snarled Lungwort (an old white fox) , who appeared to Pisces' father as he grabbed her scruff and cuffed around the head as the Deathfangs continued fighting.

Iris was shocked. She rushed over to Flowerpelt and lifted her head up, with her muzzle.
" I will kill. She will be sorry, I promise." Iris whispered softly, as she lay Flowerpelt's head gently on the grass. She looked at Flowerpelt , her eyes soft.
"Promise." she whispered softly. Then she lay down beside her, alert, as if to protect her.

Vix's muzzle dripped with Starpaw blood, and the fox she'd been fighting ran with his tail between his legs back to Starpaw territory. "And don't come back, you fool!" She snarled, and plunged back into battle to find Flowerpelt, but only to see her slumped on the ground with Iris next to her. Vix ran over. "What happened?" She asked, her voice soft. "Who did this?"

Vix noticed the other vixen approach. "None of your business, commoner!" She snapped, clacking her teeth next to Foxfur's paw. Turning to Flowerpelt, she added gently, "Come on. Let's get you off the battlefield. We'll get you all fixed up so you can come defeat Starpaw foxes next time 'kay?"

"Smoke!" Vix called. The gray fox came bounding over, eyes widening in concern when he saw Flowerpelt, but he knew better than to ask questions.
"Smoke, can you help Flowerpelt get back to camp? We think the hurt her paw." Vix gave Smoke a look that would have melted the coldest heart. Smoke woofed with laughter.
"I'd do anything for you, Vix." he whispered. Vix touched her nose to his, and he looked into her eyes, but then skitered away awkwardly. He bent down and picked uo Flowerpelt's scruff in his teeth. Vix hoisted Flowerpelt to her feet, and asked, "Can you put weight on it?" She half expected Flowerpelt to collapse dramatically, and she shot a worried glance at Iris, smiling weakly at Iris's joke.

The number of Starpaws were thinning out. Vix gave Pisces a swipe across the snout that sent the other vixen howling across the border. Vix growled in satisfaction when teeth met her scruff and dragged her backward. "Don't worry..." he other fox hissed. "I'll just break your neck so you don't feel a thing..."
