Yuuretsu just noticed that he had cut in front of someone. He must not have seen her there as he was thinking. It happened to him often. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to cut in line or anything." he said, extremely apologetically. "Anyway, I don't think I've seen you around here a lot, are you a new flyer?" Yuuretsu asked.

Inabikari looked Omni over quietly, she scrunched up her snout a bit and yawned. She was rather tired from flying all day, she had to maintain her and Yuuretsu's rank of 12th best in the city. It wasn't a huge accomplishment, but Yuuretsu was proud of it so she didn't mind the training.



"So here's the form. Just fill it out and let me know when you're ready." Dominic said as he sat down and looked through some other files. "Just got a little bit of work to catch up on, so I might as well do this while you do that." he chuckled, picking up a pen from a cup full of them that was sitting on the desk. The evening sun shone through the windows.

"Okay, thanks." Laura.took the papers and pen and quickly filled then out. She glanced out the window, and saw Acid looking in through an open window. "Acid..." She chittered some things in dragon, and Acid glared. He turned around, and he left his spot in the window.

@iceyfira Why not? :/ Oh and I don't think people can talk Dragon, just saying. But Dragons can understand people, obviously. xP

"Oh, you can let your Dragon in through the wider entrance in the back. That will at least give him something to do while he's waiting. the door will take him straight to the basic training grounds. They're empty at the moment." Dominic suggested as he noticed Acid walk away from the window.

Laura smiled, she was surpised dragons were allowed inside a building. "Uhm, okay. Thanks." She got up and stuck her headnout the window. "Acid!" She called, and tried to get his attention.

@icyfira As in, I don't think there's exactly a language to understand. Dragons don't really talk. They might growl or roar but it doesn't necessarily mean anything... ^^'

Dominic continued writing various things down and signing different papers. Unfortunately working for the Kumogata Sky Soldiers without a Dragon entailed a lot of papers and signing things. After all, the flyers themselves were busy training and protecting people from the Takasumi.

Acid turned his head and grunted, and rumbled off to find a place to settle down. Lura sighed, and sat back down to finish completing the papers.

"It's all right," she replied warmly. "Not like that's the first time it's happened to me, either." Her dark brown eyes strayed toward the kitchen, checking how long her order might take. The lack of food in her system was wearing on her attention span. "I'm pretty new," she admitted, rubbing the back of her neck. She often felt like she'd be a rookie forever. How long did it take flyers like Kurome to make a name for themselves?

Realizing her thoughts had strayed again, she grinned apologetically at Yuuretsu. "I'm a little lightheaded, sorry," she said quickly. Her voice sounded a bit far away.

Omni returned Inabikari's looks with an examination of his own. He lifted the spikes on the top of his head to make himself seem bigger and more intimidating, but truthfully, he was just as tired as she was. The light dragon blinked once and then rested his head on his rider's shoulder.

"I'm Zeneda," she introduced, willing herself to make eye contact with this other rider. "And this is Omni."

Laura finally finished filling out the forms, and looked out the window to see.if Acid was looking in the window again. He wasnt, so she sighed. "Im done." She muttered to Dominic, and handed him the papers.

"Ah, good. So I'll show you what you'll be doing if you're accepted by one of the coaches. Come with me." Dominic led Laura into the basic training grounds. "This is where you'll start out." he gestured towards the different objects that hung from the ceiling. "Target practice." Dominic said as he continued on through the room. "Speed." he pointed to a large treadmill meant for Dragons to run on. "You might think Dragons don't need leg power," he explained. "But when you aren't in the skies you need to be fast to catch Takasumi."

"Nice to meet you Zeneda, and Omni." Yuuretsu said, looking over to Omni and back to Zeneda. "I'm Yuuretsu. And this here is Inabikari."

Inabikari gave a slight nod. But quickly changed her attention to the food being brought out by the chef. "Order up!" he said cheerfully. The food looked good. It smelled even better. Usually the smell isn't as good as the food, and if that was true then this was probably going to be the best meal ever.

Laura wasnt listening to Dominic, she was to busy eying the targets. "I hope they dont notice an extra weapon..." she thought, and quickly whipped out a Kunai and threw is at the target when Dominic looked away. It hit the red zone, not a bulls-eye, but good enough for her.

"Well met, Yuuretsu," she replied with a bright smile. Omni let out a loud snort, presumably his greeting.

"That food sure looks good," she murmured as the chef brought it out. Her eyes had gone a little wide. She retrieved the tray with her sandwich and Omni's burger and smiled a thank you at the chef.

The cafeteria was crowded that day, with every table but one completely occupied. Omni darted over to claim it, wrapping his long tail around one of the chairs.

"Want to eat together?" Zeneda offered.

Dominic continued explaining things that probably didn't need explaining, but it looked like he was having fun doing it. It most likely had to do with the fact that he felt helpful when explaining things. Suddenly he stopped talking for a few moments.

"H-how did that get in...?" he stuttered. He was referring to a long thin and familiar black inky creature slithering along through the air above the floor, which was made of dirt despite being inside a building. It was a Takasumi, but it was very small compared to most. It was swirling rather cautiously as the inky body shifted unnaturally, almost levitating. The creature seemed not to notice the two standing in the room. What was it doing here?

"Sure, I don't see why not." Yuuretsu replied, picking up his own tray. Inabikari's eyes followed the food as Yuuretsu walked with it. She could almost taste the delicious food. And nothing is better than a delicious meal after a hard day's work.

Laura frowned. "What the matter?" She asked. She, of course, knew what it was, many of them lived near her and Acid. They were usually harmless if Laura tossed them their leftovers. That one was whom she called Shadow. She really just wanted to know why Dominic was so freaked out by it. "Its just Shadow." She said. "Hes harmless... usually."

The Takasumi blinked and swirled around Laura and straight up to Dominic, who leaned back as it zipped forward and stopped in front of his face. Whispers of several voices came from the creature. They said strange things as the hypnotic inky body shifted this way and that.

"The fear~ The fear~ We smell it~" the voices were distorted, as though many spirits inside the Takasumi were speaking at once.

The creature squinted. "Devour~ ... Feast~" Opening it's mouth, the Takasumi began to glow a faint purple and a line of white wispy light creeped slowly from Dominic's chest into the strange dragon's mouth. Dominic was losing consciousness.

"Whoa. Shadow, stop!" She yelled, and walked over to the Takasumi. She reached out and grabbed at it, but her fingers just swept through it like air. "Fear?" She muttered. "Dominic, stop thinking about it..think... think about riding your dragon through a meadow of pink flowers and fluffy things!" She wasnt used to being nice, or kind. It was the best she could think up.

"I don't have a Dragon... I can't think of anything...!" He said, trying to pull away from the creature, but finding himself hooked to it by the stream of light.

"The soul, the soul~ Surrender it~" The Takasumi continued. It hadn't even flinched when Laura tried to grab it.

Laura tnought, she didnt need someone to die on her first day. "Uhm... um..." she racked her brain, and groaned. "Im gonna hate myself for this..." she muttered, and hugged Dominic tightly, and whispered into his ear, "Think of the person you love is hugging you now!" She grimaced, hating every second of this.

Dominic twitched. "Sorry, I can't think of anything besides how awkward I feel right now," he admitted, "your Dragon, it can kill it...!"

Suddenly a large dark shadow zipped by, releasing Dominic from the strange hypnotism. It was a huge black Dragon with a gold underbelly. The insides of it's wings and it's claws were also gold. In it's mouth was the Takasumi.

"Good job, General." A tall man with gray-white hair entered the room. He had a trim beard and wore a large black trench coat. Patting the Dragon's neck, he watched the Dragon spit out the Takasumi and blow hot gold and acidic poison-breath at it, killing the creature. The Dragon had a large scar over it's right eye that crept down to the edge of it's snout.

"New recruit?" The man asked, gesturing towards Laura.

"Not quite, she's just applied." Dominic answered.

"Ah, I see. Well that's how it's done kid. I'm Bernard. Bernard Kraydon." The man nodded. He wasn't young, but he wasn't ancient either. He must have been at least 50 though.

Laura hissed, and turned to face the man who walked in. "Aw, poor Shadow." She laughed, and turned back to face Dominic. "You were scared of him, thats why he tried sucking out your soul." She just felt like pointing out the obvios, and tended to do it a lot. "Who are you?" She said boldly, and poked a finger at the balding mans chest.

"I just told you, kid. Open your ears." Bernard laughed. "I'm a veteran flyer though, if that's what you were wondering."

"I don't see why you love those things," Dominic sighed, "because I really don't see how anyone could not be afraid of getting their soul sucked out."

"Wait, this kid's one of those Ink-Huggers? In that case, nobody needs to bother looking over that form, she's rejected." Bernard grumbled before walking away. His Dragon, which was apparently named "General" followed behind.

"Wait, sir!" Dominic ran after him.

Laura stuttered. "Wh-what? You cant so that!" A low, gutteral growl was uttered from the back of her throat. She bared her teeth, like a dragon, and contained the urge to launch herself onto the mans back, and rip him apart. She pulled out another Kunai from her belt, and she fingered the blade. She threw it hard, and it landed in the wall, barely missing the mans head. "Can an 'Ink hugger' do that?" She asked. One last resort to try and be accepted, or another reason to be kicked out.

Bernard pulled the Kunai out of the wall and inspected it before turning around. "You missed," he said, handing the weapon back to her.

"She had a perfectly good aim!" Dominic argued. "She could have killed you!"

Bernard frowned. "Are you an Ink-Hugger too, then?"

Laura glared at the man. "If you were dead you couldnt accept me." She retorted. She was very annoyed now. "If I wanted, you and your dragon would be decapitated." She glanced at Dominic, and she bit her lip to try and keep from laughing at his horrified expression at being called an "Ink hugger."

Dominic wasn't really sure what was happening. It was a little weird.

"Anyways, they never bothered me when I tossed them food. Anyways, how was I supposta know they steal souls?" Her eyes like razor sharp chips of flint. "Acid never was scared of them, so I think if a dragon isnt scared of something, why should I?"

Zeneda bounced over to the table with her tray in both hands. She slammed it firmly down in front of the chair that Omni had claimed as theirs; his sharp maw hung over the back, and his long forepaws clutched at the seat. "Shoo," she said teasingly, picking up his cheeseburger and tossing it into the air. Striking like a cobra, the light dragon snatched it out of the air, leaving the chair free. While he was distracted, his rider quickly took her seat. Omni tipped his head back and swallowed the burger in one bite.

Without regard to whether Yuuretsu had even taken his seat, Zeneda started on her sandwich. She was eating so fast it was a wonder she could taste it at all.
