This is a rule from another site that I think would be very useful on here. Here's the rule, in quotes:

"You are allowed to give a short explanation on why you want to buy a creature (e. g. a friend's birthday or as a Christmas gift). However, long stories, especially about pets that happen to look like a creature or dead family members that would have loved the sprite are forbidden and considered spam. That kind of story will result in the thread being locked immediately."

Maybe not as harsh but something along the lines, maybe?

Agree- 3
Neutral-0
Disagree- 3
Confused- 1

Note: This isn't about anybody in particular. If you think I hate you enough to make a rule pertaining to you, then you're crazy...

@zafeyry Well, I dont really like this idea... If you have a pet that dies, I would want a creature to replace my kitties... When my kitties die, I probably WILL try to get a creature to keep memories of my kitties❀️ You should be allowed to write whatever you want about why you want a creature, this rule would ruin the freedom... If your pet dies and you miss them more than anything, wouldn't you want a pet to "replace" them?

Sorry, but I'm not a huge fan of this idea...

@zafeyry Wait, I don't understand what rule you're trying to implement here...

Do you mean that users are allowed to say "I want _insert creature here_ because _insert short explanation here_"?

Creature begging is creature begging. However, if you're trading or just plain discussing, then you can give your reason for wanting/liking the creature.

@pjbuzzy LONG STORIES, especially about dead (etc). Not necessarily ALSO meaning short stories about dead things.

@zafeyry I'm sorry, but I didn't understand the point of this rule/idea ^^'''

I believe the point being made is that some users type out long stories about some tragic or depressing event in order to guilt others into trading away a creature more easily. From that perspective, I agree that such a thing should not be allowed. You can obtain a creature for any particular reason, but it is unnecessary to really attach any sob story along with it.

@pjbuzzy
I didn't mean for it to be as extreme as the other site. But bawling on the thread where you ask for a creature to remember your cat by would be against this rule.

@karamel
Basically, it's a rule preventing sob stories that try and make other people feel bad so they'll trade.

@raitonchidori
Look at what I said to karamel 😊

@meteoroid
Thank you for making it simpler 😊

@Meteoroid It's common sense to know that people would actually like to be spared the sob story :/

If this is the rule @zafeyry wants to bring in then I support πŸ˜‹
EDIT: Oh, snap, we posted at the same time xD I support, anyway πŸ˜‰

@zafeyry ... Idk why, but that last part struck me as kind of rude... IDK if you have any pets and if you know how attached I am to mine (I mean, my username is my 2 cats names put together). So, basically, your saying, if my cat dies, I'm not allowed to tell people how sad I am about it? Even if this rule gets made, I'm still going to try to get a creature for my kitty, since this rule isn't as strict as it sounds? Sob stories, to me, are not a way to make people trade with you more easily, I would just post a topic about my kitty dying and me being sad about it.. And I dont want to really talk about my kitties dying, its making my eyes water...

Im sorry, but I'm REALLY not a big fan...

@zafeyry
Hmm... Good idea, actually. I'm agreeing with this rule, because this is what I'm thinking of:

OKAY TO SAY: Does anybody have a Clocat UFT? 😊 My cat recently died and I would be willing to trade (so and so) for one.

NOT OKAY TO SAY: Does somebody have a Clocat UFT? My cat died and I miss her so, so much. :'( Her name was (name) and I loved her so much. She got hit by a car two days ago and I was so sad I went to my room and cried for hours. I would just like a Clocat to remind me of her.

@zafeyry

i don't really like this idea. why can't i tell people how much i miss them if they die?
i think it's okay to tell me people how much i miss my bird, but not like this:

yesterday i came home from school. i was going to fill the birds water bowl but then i saw something blue on the floor.Mocha had flied in to the window and hurt his head.☹️ i miss him so much!D:

i agree with @pjbuzzy...

@sanibel_18 @pjbuzzy You're kinda dragging the suggestion out of proportion. The rule will not ban threads talking about a pet's death or some such. It applies to a thread that has a long winded story about a pet's death and then, "Oh yeah, if you have a _creature_here_ I would really, really appreciate if you traded with me because it reminds me of my poor pet. ☹️"

@karamel I do not think the common sense aspect of it is as common as you are led to believe. If someone wants a creature that badly, it's not unreasonable to assume they'll make a post to garner sympathy. It has happened a handful of times, anyway.

@pebblestar-nightclan That's essentially the idea, I believe.

@zafeyry, I agree with pjbuzzy, & we do not need more rules. It really sounds like sensorship to me & I'm totally against that. You can commiserate with the loss of ones pet without giving up your creatures

@pjbuzzy I'm sorry to hear your pet died. But as @Meteoroid said, you're not sticking with the original rule. *pokes the explanation above*
What @zafeyry's rule is, is that you aren't allowed to post a(n unnecessarily) long story about your pet(s) dying, then proceed to ask for a creature in hope that the reader is crying and wallowing in a pit of pity for you (EXAGGERATION). You're allowed to say that your pet(s) died and how sad you are, etc. but you're not allowed to use that as an excuse to get a creature. Short sentences (as Meteoroid posted) are allowed though.

Words will be words until you bring them to life and give meaning :/ *shrugs* That's how my mind works anyway... I do support this rule though, since it would happen less than a handful of times πŸ˜‹

@karamel Hitting the nail right on the head. Some of you guys are misinterpreting the entire point of the suggestion. It's for the users who post obnoxiously mushy stories for the sake of having an easier time trading creatures. It would not censor anyone to talk about a late pet in the slightest.

@pjbuzzy
I wasn't trying to be rude. And I'm iffy about the pet part, but the others who posted below you explained it better than I did.

@pebblestar-nightclan
Thanks for that example 😊

@sanibel_18
I'm not trying to make it so you can't say anything about your bird, but if you post a super long story about how you found your bird abandoned and he was the cutest darn thing, etc., then that's where it crosses the line since at that point it seems like you're trying to get sympathy.

@lunacharm1037
"You can commiserate with the loss of ones pet without giving up your creatures"
Uhhh, that's exactly what this is trying to prevent: people using sympathy as a way to get creatures they want.

@karamel
@Meteoroid (ping won't work)
Thanks for explaining it while I was gone 😊

@zafeyry You're welcome.

@sanibel_18 You're allowed to post how your pet died etc and all that, but writing an extremely long story about the death of your bird and then you ask, "Can someone please trade or give me a Blu because it reminds me of my bird?" that's where it's not allowed.

I support this. As long as it gets rid of people trying to guilt others and nothing more, it seems pretty reasonable.
