So I just got back from yet another *unexpected* extended absence from Eggcave, and from this I encountered a problem that lead to this idea. While I was away I did get a new phone that I was able to access the internet from. The problem with it was that the phone is not a 'smart phone' like an iphone so only 'mobile sites' work well (Facebook, for example, has a mobile site that loads quick and easily on non-smart phones). I tried several times to access eggcave to put my eggies at Tim's or even feed my eggs but it would take a *minimum* of 10 minutes for each page to load. So by the time I got logged in I had already spent a half hour of my time waiting. I know it would be any type of quick process to do this, but I think it is something you guys should consider so 'on-the-go' people can still access and take care of their eggies (without dropping hundreds of dollars on an iphone lol).Anyone else think they would find this useful? 😊

@jbenson101 Agreed. Or even better an app. 😊

I agree with the idea of an eggcave app.

Creating a app isn't as easy as some of you think, it's somewhat complicated. Egg Cave may need to hire software engineers. It takes time, then certain programs are capable on certain phone severs, we'd have to go through the whole processing thing. Now just a basic mobile website m.eggcave.com would be quite easy but it would include more money, because @Ian would have to host a mobile domain. @jbenson101 @nousernamesleft @bubblez_iz_baq @runesilver15497

@fakeworldI know it won't be easy. It'll be difficult, but in the long run worth it. Spend some now, earn a lot later. There are many people that would love to use this site on the go and for many it is impossible at the moment. If they did do make a mobile version or app, within a few months they could earn back the money spent. So many people now a days are "on the go" adding a mobile version or app would help. Plus, all the new people that would check it out on their phone, then end up checking it out when they get home on their computers. I've done that many times.

@bubblez_iz_baq That is correct, it would advertise Egg Cave. But it'll be hard to get everything running. This would include. Strong Java experience including Spring, servlets, JSPs, JMS. Web service Implementation experience. Experience with JavaScript including AJAX and frameworks (jQuery, YUI, etc). Relational database experience. Cross-browser HTML and CSS experience. I'm not sure if it'll actually be hard for them to get it up in running, but to me it seems complicated and a lot of work.

@fakeworld I understand that. But if it's someone job that's what they get paid for. And I'm sure it's hard and time consuming, but very beneficial in the long run. It's always good to see the bigger picture :'P

It would be a lot more efficient to create a mobile-compatible site instead of an actual application for Egg Cave. That being said, this must be the third thread within the month asking about the same suggestion. Ian has mentioned that he will look into a mobile version of the website, but not necessarily an app.
