Pings only work in the forum. They only create a link in other places.

As far as I can remember, blog pings have never worked to begin with. So it's not a bug if it never existed. 😋

I believe actual pinging is a forum exclusive feature.

Pinging people is specifically confined to the Forums. It has been this way since the beginning. There isn't enough organization on blog posts to "ping" somebody.
