*Living in MA*I lost power at 1: 30 pm yesterday (I just HAD to jinx it, didn't I?). I was one of the first houses on my town to lose power. It came back at around 3 this morning.I woke up this morning (assuming there was school today) and the winds were INSANE. I could almost feel it through my window! Rain was pounding on the side of the house. The woods are right in my backyard, and I thought a tree would fall over at any moment. I realized the power was back on and my mom told me school was cancelled again today. So, 7:00 am, and here I am.

My school got a 2 hour delay. Mostly because if it was up to our superintendent, we would have had school yesterday. Never mind, we don't have school again today. Still haven't lost power. 😃

Don't you notice that all devastating natural disasters have nice names, like hurricane Sandy? 😸

We just got power back, and a tree fell on my neighbor's horses fence, and since I"m watching the horse for a week, my dad and I had to rebuild that piece for fence to keep the horse in. Now I'm soaked and cold *shiver*

I'm in NJ.....>.>LUCKILY where I am, we all have power and we aren't flooded anywhere.EXCEPT....Atlantic City and LBI seemed to have gotten it, and still have it really bad.Prayin' for my state.

@izzfredI think it's safe to say that nothing like what is happening in Jersey or NYC will affect us in Canada. We may just get a blustery storm.
seaangel • 30 October 2012 at 11:14 AM
@glazzie That's good to hear. My town got a flood warning, and it delivered. It wasn't that bad, which was good. It just barely got into the house. Yes, are rug is ruined, but it could have been worse. Now our heater has stopped working, and they're calling for snow, it's freezing!! I have like five layers on.
glazzie • 30 October 2012 at 11:21 AM
@SeaangelOuch.Yeah, we weren't the main target for flooding and stuff.BUT I FORGOT TO MENTION:We were TOTALLY the main target for wind! I have amazingly overgrown & dying trees in my back yard. So, as you can probably guess, one of them fell down on my house. WITH MY LUCK, it destroyed the left side of our roof (y'know, shingles were scrapped off and stuff) however, the inside of the house ( MY ROOM ) was not penetrated, and nobody was harmed. Except out backyard. Poor thing is burried in trees.

Everyone be safe!! This still isn't over!I live in NY (upstate) an some how we completely missed it.
seaangel • 30 October 2012 at 11:35 AM
@glazzie Yeah, we had a lot of wind to. Though, we have a dead tree, though the wind was blowing in the wrong direction and didn't effect the tree at all. -.-

@izzfredDon't panic it's not going to go that far. It's caused lots of damage and lots of power outages to 7.4 mil without power. There's been lots of flooding in many places and power lines have gone down becuz of trees being torn down from strong winds. Ohio got a bit of it too, they've been thru a bad storm before where they had power lines go down becuz of strong winds and a whole street had lines down and ppl stuck in cars for long hours to wait for rescue while they had help from some ppl sent down from Canada to have restored their power this was during summer tho. And becuz there was major heat they were passing out free ice bags to ppl to keep themselves cool.
glazzie • 30 October 2012 at 11:40 AM
@SeaangelThat's a good thing, right?Unless you wanted it downed, since it was dead.

@ladyrhea my teacher is literally living in fear right now. Her son lives in New Jersey I think it is if not New York, and got blasted by it last night. It was really widny in my province last night. Thanks for telling me it's nothing to worry about.

@karamel ._. the empire state building isn't the only building with power. there's 5 in times square. But, many subway stations are flooded.2 kids and one person died in a tree falling accident on their houses. :I and we have no school until tomorrow, and if everything isn't fixed, many people will lose money cause they have no jobs for the time being.

@izzfredWell things will resort back to normal once the waters have receded in the many places that were flooded. And then they have to work on getting the power back on. As for things being damaged that will most likely take a while to fix. There were some deaths the sad part is some were lil ones☹️

@izzfredAwww...that's very thoughtful and sweet to pray and think about those ppl that's alot of compassion your class has. I saw the pics of what happened it really tore things down and flooded areas, the subways were flooded too, good thing they closed alot of things down.
