@inkpelt @mexiatian No, I don't either. I mean, I've always been reading old blog posts and the posts from previous release weeks were all written in April. I joined in April 2012 and the week never came.

But it's sad to see that the sites revolving more around CC creatures than cave creatures :/

I agree; it seems all there is to do on egg cave is buy new cc creatures and trade relentlessly. I think they should do more events like the halloween one.

I totally agree. I just wish there would be actually more "free" things to do on this site, since it says that this site is "free", but the things that a big part of it aren't free. :/

The Halloween Bash was fun; it had nothing to do with CC and the creatures weren't half bad.

A CRW would be nice because we'd get to take a break from the CC and actually get nice things from the cave.

Yeah, I quit for a while because all anyone was interested in were the new CC creatures and how they could trade for them and whatnot. It's exciting when we get new creatures, but not when they cost a lot of money. I don't think pixel creatures are worth real money, you know?

There's another virtual pet site that has eggs and creatures that hatch through clicks. It's different from egg cave in that there's other stuff to do- exploring and mining, and you can actually win creatures by exploring. I think egg cave should try something like that, or host more events.

Yes; it's very exciting to see new creatures be released. Sometimes I like the CC critters, but they're expensive. The creatures were put hard work into, so it's reasonable to sell them for money. But the price right now, which is 5 dollars per creature, is just too much for pixels.

Hosting more plots and events would be fun. The billion views thing during the late spring was fun. It got everybody excited, but that had a CC prize 😋

A plot would be fun, like the recent Case of the Missing Kinump. That one was so much fun. I'd like to have something like it again. And have you head of the myLights competition in '09? I think if we did something similar to that, but a little different would great.

I have no idea what the myLights competition was; is that why everyone was posting Lights😱ff on their cave?

I really like the squirrel creature, but five dollars is too much. I know a lot of people don't mind because they're supporting egg cave, and that's find, but I agree that the focus of egg cave is on the cc creatures.

The halloween plot was great, but mostly because you were earning the creature, instead of just buying it.

The myLights was a contest in 2009 where users took pictures of their Christmas Lights and others voted on which ones were the best. The Lights Off/On thing was a Halloween "event" a group users created for each other, I think.


And the CRW was never on a set date (Apr2010, Feb2011), so there's always the possibility that it can still happen this year...

No, that was just a user-made Halloween thing 😊
The myLights competition was a Christmas contest. People had to decorate their homes, and take pictures. Some info on it can be found here: http://eggcave.com/history/mylights

This month didn't interest me much. But on other months, I was trading to get a few critters. And supporting EC is completely fine, but the focus of the site has shifted from having fun with friends to CC and trading like maniacs.

Yes. And it made me get a lot of EC on my main xD

The myLights contest sound pretty cool. I can see a lot of people on egg cave having a lot of fun with that!

In the time that I've been on Eggcave (which I joined.. last year in May), I haven't yet seen a CRW. o^o

As others have stated above, Creature Release Week is yet to happen this year, but we may see it around Christmas if we're lucky 😉

Egg Cavern recently had a poll (it's still ongoing, actually) asking what types of things people would like to see more of on Egg Cave, and most people voted for puzzles and plots. It seems that Ian is trying to jump on that idea with the Halloween Bash and the current Gobbler hunt, so we may very well see more things of the like to come. I wasn't around for the myLights competition, but I remember seeing some of the pictures posted, and it seemed like a ton of fun. Maybe in the future we'll see events like Easter egg painting and pumpkin carving.

We certainly can't do anything about the Cash Shop at this point, as it's necessary to keep the site running, but what we can do is make suggestions. There's an infinite number of potentially fun events and features out there that we could be discussing rather than complaining about CC 😊

I like LEs ^^" There are enough cave creatures. :/ With so many cave creatures, it's gotten much harder to find Kujaks in the cave. :c

Zero_chaos, I know if there were more things to do, the cash creatures wouldn't bother me at all. The problem is, the focus here seems to revolve around cash creatures, limited edition creatures, and trading for them. I get tired of that. I reallly like collecting creatures, but I don't want it to be such a big event to buy them. That's why I really enjoy the events and plot because you can win and actually earn a creature. I find that infinitly more satisfying than buying them (unless my intent was to support egg cave).

I was thinking though, that there are so many creatures already, and new ones coming out all the time. At some point, Ian will have to find something else to add to the site, or there will be craploads of creatures that will be difficult to find, ever. I mean there'll be a point where there are more and more LE's and cc creatures that you can't find anymore.

Could be why we haven't had creature release week, and why some people don't think we will. We already have cc and cave creatures coming out all the time. Plus there's Christmas coming up! I'm excited for whatever egg cave's got planned!

But even before that, December is gonna have a handful of goodies. 😉
