Anyone see it yet? Don't reveal too much to me.

Just one question:
DID SMAUG LOOK EPIC?

I really want to know! 😊

I didn't see it, but Smaug is somewhere in the third part; they're making three movies. :c

@mastermepp OMG SO EXCITED FOR THAT MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!! Sadly, I didn't get to see it today, because according to my parents,
"When you miss an entire week of school because you're sick, do you really think you'll be allowed to go out to the movies??"
Me: "YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND!! THIS IS THE HOBBIT WE'RE TALKING ABOUT HERE!"

I'm really excited to see this movie really badly as well.

@taunter
I was about to make a comment on how I thought it was meant to be split into two parts, but I did a quick Google search and found that it really will be a Trilogy. Pretty crazy if you ask me. The third movie is apparently being based off of other Tolkien material, which I guess is kinda neat. Nine hours for an adaptation of The Hobbit seems pretty excessive, though.

@Meteoroid The reason it's split into three (which are all like, 3 hours long) is because it is completely true to the novel, basically following it word for word.

@meteoriod I assume the producers want it as accurate as possible. :/

@Meteoroid yes, but we must not forget all the fluff the producers will throw in.

@Meteoroid All of the Lord of the Rings movies, including the Hobbit, were filmed in New Zealand.

It was SO amazing. I loved it. ❤️ Fili and Kili are my favorites. 8D

Oh, and about Smaug... You hardly see him. You see bits and pieces of him. Oh, and the last shot of the movie is him opening his eye. 😊

@mastermepp You do get a glimpse of Smaug,(and yes, he's pretty awesome) but as others have said, he's not really in it except for like..5 seconds at the end.

Anyone who has seen the movie already and read the books, what did you think of it? Don't give any spoilers for those who don't know the story though. Personally I thought it was waaaaay longer than it needed to be. I saw and loved all three LOTR films, and even though the DVDs are well over 3 hours long with all the extra features, they didn't FEEL long. This felt long. I was planning to see it again in 3D, but I'm not sure I can sit through it again.

Overall, I would give it 3/5 stars. Special effects and scenery were AWESOME, and I appreciated the places where they quoted the book word for word. 😃 And of course the actors are fantastic, as always...especially Andy Serkis as Gollum.

I could have done without any scene with Radagast the Brown, and I HATED the scene with the trolls. It was so much better in the book! It was just kind of silly and stupid in the movie. There were a lot of things that they added weren't in the book, and while some of them were fine a lot of them seemed totally unnecessary to me...like the scene with Galadriel and Saruman.

@Meteoroid

Three movies? DX

I thought waiting for each of the Lord of the Rings movies was awful...

Three movies seems like a bit much. Two I could maybe understand.

Oh dear. Still want to see it though.

I'm actually watching the trilogy today before going to see 'The Hobbit,' this week. 😃

LOTR Marathon!
