Standing in suspence near the window, Avery could hear and partially see the crazed girl near. She couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at her reproach. The dramatic entrance... really? It was beyond cheesy and that, coupled with the smoke (which in all truth did make a pretty good cover up) made for one cliche 'revenge'. Still, Avery made a mental note not to underestimate the oddling, and loaded her gun silently.
"Quiet." she whispered at Michael, looking at Fiona as well. "We cannot see in the fog, but she hardly can as well. So shoosh..."
A signalling click echoed, as the fuse on her gun's barrel was released and she fired seven consecutive bullets in the girl's general direction.
"Can you see anything?" she asked the man in a hushed tone, her good eye scanning their surroundings.

Victor bustled in his cell, rushing over to press himself on the left side of his cage, eager to catch a glimps of his supposed saviour. He did mind being killed for, especially considering the killed people would be Michael and Avery (not that he knew them well, but he was sure they were nice), but the craving for freedom was too much to dismiss.

Storm heard a few gunshots, and dropped to the ground in a bad attempt to dodge them. One grazed her shoulder, and she hissed. "Alright Storm, shut up and make more fog. If they can't see you, they can't shoot you." She whispered to herself, and more fog arose. The oddling could barely see the outline of the door, and army-crawled to it, staying absolutly silent. Blood trickled from her wound.

"Um... I could, but not really anymore." Michael whispered back, looking out the window. The girl had fallen silent, which worried the scientist, but he did his best to steady his breathing. Soon enough, he felt pretty calm.

"Quiet" Avery repeated, raising a finger to her lips.
The building drowned in silence again, englufing it as the fog did. The air around her was a distintictive pure white color, through which she couldn't even see her own hands.
Her good eye wasn't even that keen, so she shut it tightly, relying on her nose and ears.
Aside from smoke, she detected the light scent of blood and a faint sound of dripping liqiud nearby. A smile stretched her lips and she pushed the fuse of her gun out of the way again, aiming blindly for the source of sounds.
"Got you now..."
She fired her three remaining bullets in Storm's direction, then fell silent again.

As soon as she heard gunfire again, Storm opened the dor and entered the lab, but not before two more bullets grazed her calf. Hissing again, she changed form, becoming a shadow. The pain was still there, but at least she wouldn't drip blood everywhere. She hid under the stairwell, waiting for the commotion to die down a bit. The fog outside began to retreat a bit as it was sapping energy from Storm needlessly.

So they hadn't listened to her...again. So what? Fiona thought. They're still you're friends. But a dark feeling rose up inside her again. They hated that girl. They wanted her dead, if anything. But she was an Oddling. Does that mean that...they hated her too? Fiona was confused for a moment.
They must've. After that evil girl, all they'd thought about was her. They hadn't even thought about Fiona. So there she was. A droopy, confused, upset, 15 year old high school girl. Perfectly innocent right? Not! She was angry. At the humans. She thought they'd betrayed her. And now she was seeking revenge.

Michael looked back at Fiona, his eyes full of deep hurt and fear. And the moment he saw the angered expression on her face, his shoulders slumped, and he turned back forward, wishing he hadn't looked back at all. Suddenly, Michael hated himself more than any other living creature on the planet. He sighed quietly. He couldn't do anything about it now. He had to protect the oddlings... But.... Once again, Michael found himself conflicted. Fed up, he dropped the gun. "Avery... I can't hurt anyone. Not even one of them." He said simply. "I won't do anything else other than reason." He was sick of hurting kids.

Raising an eyebrow at his truly honest, but otherwise slightly late confession, Avery put her hands on her hips.
"A bit late for that now. She wants us dead and gone. She won't just free them and leave. Not without our heads. We haven't done anything to hurt her kin but she still despises us for whatever reasons. We're the nice guys... but we're as good as dead if we wave the white flag." she mumbled under her breath, pulling her hair back to fully reveal the marred left side of her face. "I've met and suffered from oddlings like her. I don't trust her one bit. Fiona or Victor might be nice, but she's not." Avery bent down to pick up the gun and loaded it as well, catching Fiona's angered expression through the bars. "You hate us too, don'tcha? Even though we're the best option... we don't torture you like the other units do but we're still the bad guys. Be happy kid. We'll probably get killed real soon."
Unhinging the cell keys off her belt, she flicked them at Michael. "Free them and go if you like. If anything, I'd serve as a backup and hold her up. ...Don't worry I'll use my tranquilizers not my bullets."

Gotta go to school. Ahh!

Fiona stared at him, as her angered expression softened into a small, subtle smile. She realized the truth. Even if she was an Oddling, she wasnt bad. She wasnt evil. She was herself.
"Michael...Avery..." she called again quietly.

Michael caught the keys, staring at them for a moment before turning around and starting to unlock cage after cage. He stayed quiet, not really able to find words. But he knew what would happen to Avery and him. A few cells later, he made it down to where Vick was. He unlocked the cell and opened the door. "You can go." He said, trying to smile, before moving on.

Storm heard the jangle of keys in locks. /Hmm. Being coopertive, are we?/ She thought. /Well, they'll still die./ She resisted the urge to lick her lips at the thought of fresh blood. She began to creep up the stairs.
