Smokepaw sat down and waited for an answer to why Deathkit and Stormpaw just disapreaed. He looked around and gazed up at hte sky.

Moonkit padded over to Smokepaw.

"Do you know where Deathkit is? I want to play but she is my favorite to play with....no one wants to play with me." Moonkit meowed softly.

Deathkit nodded solemnly and trailed after Stormpaw

Back at MoonClan, the sky suddenly flashed a blinding yellow, and then went to darkness like night. Though the sun was still there, it was also black. A voice echoed through the whole clan.
"Your two clanmates are in my custody. I have decided to allow.. 2 cats to help. They shall be the most clever at of all of you. They must figure out this riddle, on their own. And only on their own.
"I have a bed, but never sleep. I have a mouth, but cannot sleep." He added onto the end. "It is a place in your territory. In the clouds."

Snowdash jumped up. "The river!" he exclaimed after he got over the shock of it. He immediately raced over to the Cloudsky river. When he got there, at first he saw nothing. Except for the river. But then..

Soul Eater sighed. "Fine. My subjects convinced me that five cats will be a better dinner, so I suppose three cats can join." He said to the kitties out there

Moonkit raced up to the black voice. "I can defeat you with my clanmates by my side!" Moonkit raised her voice so everyone in the clearing could hear her.

Snowdash gasped. Black mist swirled around him. "GO AWAY!" He yowled and batted his paws at the mist, unaware that now it had totally surrounded him.

Smokepaw looked around the other catrs were gone. He stood up nad wandered around. He did'nt under stand that riddle. He was just wandering helpless hoping to find someway to find Stormpaw and Deathkit. He arrived at the river to see Snowdash being covered in black mist.

As each cat reached the river, they were swept up right away in a tornado of evil mist. Finally, five cats stood side by side in the center of their confinement, confinement.

Soul Eater merged from thin air and welcomed them with a sick smile. "Welcome. Only one warrior? Pathetic. Our feast will be small." With a bored sigh, he pause

Smokepaw glared up as the demon thing that had just appeared in front of him. "I've seen bugs uglier than you." He growled then shook his pelt. "Bugs." He meowed as he shivered.

Smokepaw looked at the demon. He pulled his lips in a snarl. Then without a second thought he lept forward and hit a wall. He shook his head and saw the demon sitting in a different corner of the room.

Songpaw gulped. They had Stormpaw, didn't they? She pelted desperately after Snowdash, finally arriving at the river. But they were gone. "No..." Songpaw's eyes blurred, and she began padding away. "They're all gone." Her tail and wings dragged forlornly on the clouds, her ears plastered to her head.

Starpelt and Featherpelt bounded after Songpaw. Featherpelt walked up "Just give it some time. I'm sure Stormpaw will come back." She meowed lyingher tail on Songpaw's shoulders.


Smokepaw looked around then with a sudden revelation he slunk into the shadows his pelt helping him blend in with the shadows. Then he crept around looking for an opening.

Stormpaw, being no fool, saw Smokepaw's eyes as he slunk around in the shadows. Padding over, she hissed, "Deathkit and I were doing fine! What are you mouse-brains doing here?! Getting yourselves killed? You guys took the bait." Stormpaw looked pained. "There aren't any openings. We're stuck. And now all we have is more to worry about... Not to mention a clan of killers to eradicate." Her ears flattened, and she pressed against a wall in an attempt to hide from Soul Eater as her eyes flooded with fear. "Dear Starclan..." She whispered, shaking a bit.

Songpaw looked up at her clanmates. "They eat souls. Souls, Featherpelt. They're hungry. And if I know Stormpaw, she's irritated them. And hungry, angry things will eat their prey." She sighed and padded off back towards camp.

Featherpelt started after Songpaw as starpelt bounded after her. Featherpelt turned around and sat down. She raised her head and sent out a prayer. "Dear Starclan, Let our clan mates return safley without any harm. Let them find a way away from this evil. Have them destroy the evil that has rised and taken htem. Help them to survive to live in the clan." Then she turned and walked in the opposite direction of camp.

Smokepaw turned away from Stormpaw and then crept up behind the demon thing. Making sure he was'nt spotted he looked up and down. He was safe at the moment for the thing was'nt turning around then he saw a small gap barley big enough for a kit's paw to fit through. He sighed 'only a fly could get through that.' He thought.

Stormpaw squeezed her eyes shut as the fear coursed through her, taking over her common sense to kill the demons. She curled into a tight little ball of fur, shivering in the shadows. Worrying for Smokepaw, and Songpaw... And every other cat in the clan. Tears slipped down her cheeks. "Starclan... Help me. Help..." She felt her personal demons dance through her mind, filling her with irrational fear and worry.

Songpaw ignored Starpelt. "I need to find them. Now. To heck with fear. Enough sulking." She turned. "Where are they? Do you know?" She asked.

Starpelt shook her head, "I don't know where they are." She meowed defeated.

Smokepaw turned and slunk away from the demon. Then he looked over at Stormpaw as she cried in the shadows. He turned and looked around for anything that could help him defeat this demon. His mind wandered and soon was filled with images of bugs. Evil vile little demons just like this one. An idea sprung into his mind. He slunk over to the small opening and was soon able to pull out a small brown beetle. Hurling it at the ground he darted off hopping his plan would work.

Stormpaw felt her mind starting to shatter like a broken piece of glass. She tried to regain her control. "Strong. Be strong." She hissed to herself, not bothering to wiped her tears away, shaking her head. A pain ripped inside her skull, and she whimpered in agony.

Songpaw hissed to herself. "Where...? They're just... Gone. I can't do nothing..." She looked helplessly over at Starpelt. "What are we going to do? We can't just sit here idly and wait..."

Starpelt shook her head. "I don't know. It's best to wait and hope they come back." She meowed sadly.

Smokepaw sat in the corner and lay down. He thought and then saw Stormpaw whimper. Quickly he darted over to her. He bent down next to her cna started to lick her head. "It's alright. No one's going to hurt you."

Stormpaw's eyes squeezed shut. "They'll eat my soul. And I will no longer care. Good as dead... But they can't do it to you... Not to you or Deathkit, or Songpaw..." She whimpered, as the demons ripped her open from the inside out. Confused and still hurting, Stormpaw scooted closer to Smokepaw. "I won't let them hurt you guys..."

"I'm not going to sit useless... Not like a coward. No more." Songpaw meowed. "I... Don't know where to look.. And I don't know how." She stamped her paws, frustrated. "I need... A nap." She pelted off to the apprentice den, wanting to sleep and think. Maybe Starclan could help her.

Smokepaw looked at Stormpaw. "No. I will not let them hurt you or anyone else." He hissed then looked up at the demon in the room with him. He looked at the bug now crawling over to him then into Stormpaw's ear. Then he jumped up and took a running leap at the demon hitting it with a loud thunk.

Stormpaw's skin crawled. She didn't want Smokepaw to leave... Where was he going? She felt and heard something crawling in her ear. Hissing and spitting, she jumped to her paws, frantically shaking her head in a futile attempt to remove the bug. Her brain was slowly falling apart. Soon she was giggling quietly as she shook her head.

The bug soon felt the cat shaking it's head. It snapped it's little mouth then sat just near the ear drum.

Stormpaw gave a shrill shriek of pain. She fell to the ground, her giggles subsiding into puffs of breath as she decided she'd need help to remove the bug. Her eye twitched. "Silly beetle, you should crawl out..." She mewed, as if the bug would understand. "Just promise me that when I've gone completely mad... Tell them I love them. Especially Smokepaw. Oh, and do take care of them. I'll need you to replace me as their protector..." She rambled on and on as if she and the bug were the only two beings in the area.

Soul Eater turned his faceless face (Uhh) on Smokepaw. "What do you think you're doing?" It hissed. "Get back while I play with you puppets." He turned back around and when he reappeared he was dragging a cat named Pixie by her throat. "Maybe you would like to see the soul sucking in action?" He leaned in, and mist covered both their faces. When Soul Eater pulled away, he left a trail if mist where ever he went (Hint hint!) Pixie's eyes were hollow and she padded without meaning. "Where am I?" Her voice was flat. She disappeared. Soul Eater laughed. "See now?" He disappeared, but a trail of mist led to where he was.

The little beetle in the cat's ear nodded it's head.


Smokepaw hit the ground and quickly pulled himself back up his leg felt like it was on fire and his head spun. Yet he persisted to hurl himslef at the demon in the center of the room.

Stormpaw rattled on to the little beetle in her ear, not noticing anything was amiss. "Oh, and you'll have to play with Deathkit, give everyone hugs... OH! And you need to tell super cool stories about my adventures, leaving out this one, that is." Her eyes twitched more and more. "And could you tell the demons to leave? I don't like what they're telling me..."

"You will die... They won't miss you.. They don't love you..." Voices hissed in her mind. "Stop it! I'm not dying, stupid." Stormpaw mewed, seemingly to herself.
