@marinalily HEHE YES!!!! Okay, so who's going to start?
marinalily • 28 June 2013 at 12:47 PM
@luv Uhh.. I'm not sure...@thereturningold hasn't been on this thread in a while- maybe we should start ourselves? :/
luv • 1 July 2013 at 6:27 PM
@marinalily It might be wise. Would you like to do the honors?
marinalily • 1 July 2013 at 6:48 PM
@luv Alright! I'm on my phone, so I have no patience to ping everyone just yet. |D Apologies. @thereturningoldClive and Mariel Heraldi departed at the hallways leading into the separate dorms, exchanging a few words and checking the weapons they had hidden on them in low tones."I'm in dorm three..""... thirteen..""You have your whip?"".. throwing dagger?"After a few moments, they embraced and departed their ways, lugging their bags behind them. Clive headed towards the boy's dorms, and Mariel to the girl's.Clive felt a pang as he grew farther away from his sister. They were never apart. But he supposed rules were rules, and you had to follow them when you were the person who had to hunt down rule-benders. 11.. 12.. 13. There it was. Glorious room thirteen, both of the twin's lucky number. Fiddling in his pocket for the key they had given him, Clive opened the door to his new room, leaving it open and opting instead to use both hands to drag his bag in. After all, he killed demons. What else could hurt him more?Mariel had never felt so far from her brother as she did now. Her room wasn't that far from the entrance, since it was dorm 3, and Mariel quickly felt her mind consumed with possible escape plans. Room 3, however, was the closest Mariel could get to her lucky number, 13. She felt she would need the luck. Demons? Alright. But other girls? ... not so much. Mariel was always better off alone or seducing some demon (or some other supernatural being, there were many who tried to hurt poor little mundanes) before she killed it while its guard was down. Sighing, but gathering herself together, she opened the door with deathly precision, prepared to face whatever came at her.

@MarinalilyI got it. @dark_link @dragonii@unipeggirl@whitefirehere's my reply:Chris was irritated. The hallways were supposed to be dimly lit, but no, of course they couldn't be. It seemed like 10,000 watts of light were staring at the shadowhunter and he fidgeted uncomfortably. He always did better in the dark. This was the first day, and he had to calm his nerves or he knew he would shift uncontrollably. That had been happening a lot to him lately, whenever he was stressed out or nervous. He rummaged through his pockets until he found the small key, and unlocked his room, tossing down his bags then going into the hall again. Well, he might as well meet the guys that lived around him. Shielding his eyes, the brunette decided to just go down the hallway knocking at the other guys dorms. He started at number 13.He raised his hand to knock, and with horror, saw it fading in and out. It normally wasn't this hard to control! He shut his eyes tight and leaned against the door in front of him, feeling his body change. What he didn't realize was that the door wasn't fully closed, just resting open as he crashed into the room, turning into a full-on shadow out of fear before hitting the ground. It was strange, to be invisible, but yet to still see your own shadow as he dusted off his pants and looked around the room, forgetting as usual that if anyone was in there, they would just assume that a shadow had somehow opened the door and fell in.
marinalily • 1 July 2013 at 7:28 PM
@luv Thanks! 😸 @dark_link @dragonii @unipeggirl @whitefireIn an instant, Clive was in a defensive crouch, almost snarling at the sight in front of him."Gracious!" He said sarcastically. "'Tis merely my first day and already I'm getting attacked! Is this some kind of twisted version of Peter Pan and his shadow? I'm sorry, I'm out of needles to sew you back on. Although," he suggested slyly, "I do have a rather sharp dagger."He cocked his head to the side, examining the strange shadow in front of him. It seemed to be quite strange- as normal shadows didn't usually crash through doors. For an instant, Clive wondered wether he should call Mariel, but did not do so. He had never fought without his sister before, but he was fairly sure he could handle himself well.
luv • 1 July 2013 at 7:40 PM
It took Chris a moment before he realized that this guy thought he was attacking him, and another moment before he realized why. "Oh crap!" He murmured, staring down at the shadow at the floor. "No, not Peter Pan's shadow. But that knife won't be needed, not to deal with me." Chris focused intensely, but when someone was crouched in front of him like that, it was hard to resist... particularly when his senses (which could always find a supernatural) were getting confused. This thing didn't have an aura necessarily, but it had the faintest tiniest tinge of a glow, like it did have some special abilities."And advise you don't try either. As much as I seem like just a shadow, I can assure you I am not. And slashing at someone you can't fully see is harder than it seems. Trust me, many have tried." He focused really hard, but Chris couldn't seem to switch back."Do you mind not standing like that? I promise I'm not going to hurt you, and I always keep my promises." He realized the guy was only defending himself, so he went on. "My name is Chris. I'm a student here. I'm not going to be able to prove it until you stand normally and stop acting like you're about to lunge at me. It's like umm... puffer-fish. If you're going to attack, my whole body is trying to protect me. I think. I don't know how it works really..." Chris knew he was doing a terrible job, but how else do you explain it?
marinalily • 1 July 2013 at 7:52 PM
@luv @dark_link @dragonii @unipeggirl @whitefire I have decided. Clive and Mariel have a Leila and Luke connection. Or at least something like that."And the shadow speaks." Clive obligingly relaxed a bit, leaning against the wall. He wasn't just about to trust this- well whatever he was, so he made sure that he was able to reach his sister with the tendrils of his mind and that he would be ready to go into action at the wrong movement."Well," he mused, frowning, "comparing yourself to a pufferfish is pretty low. I'm not about to maul you over now." Well, that was half of the truth. If the weird shadow decided to do something funny, Clive sure as heck would've mauled him over. Along with his sister. But the shadow didn't need to know that. "Go on," he said. "Do your.. well whatever you do. I still don't understand what's going on."
dark_link • 2 July 2013 at 8:49 PM
@luv@marinalily@dragonii@unipeggirl@whitefireCaris had wandered the halls for what felt like ages before she had finally found her dorm. Her pointed ears perking slightly when she saw the number nine on the door, she entered somewhat cautiously in case she had an assigned dormmate. The elf let out a sigh of relief when she saw no one inside, she always thought better when she was by herself. Already bored of the room, she set out to explore the halls more in an attempt to get to know the place better.
marinalily • 2 July 2013 at 9:09 PM
@luv @dark_link @dragonii @unipeggirl @whitefireMariel had left the door ajar, frowning slightly at the drab room. It would need more character, and if the people who gave her the keys were correct, she would have the room to herself. It was great, because she could hide her weapons and junk alike wherever she pleased. At the back of her mind Mariel could feel that Clive was slightly distressed, but decided against going to investigate. Mariel did not want to go into the forbidden side of the building on only the first day. That would be embarrassing. Hands on her hips, she addressed the room, packing away her clothes and the items she had brought. Her mind sparked at the sense of a supernatural being that was near, and curious at who else could be going to the academy and curious about what and who that was near, Mariel stepped out of her room, fearless. After all, she killed demons. What else was there to fear?
luv • 2 July 2013 at 11:01 PM
@marinalily Chris shrugged, but realized it might look as though he was reaching for a weapon. "Just shrugging. And can you name any other animals that react so subconsciously and obviously?" Chris could actually think of quite a few, but pufferfish was the first thing he had thought of, although he was regretting it.Chris sighed and closed his eyes, even though the guy couldn't tell one way or another. "It's more complicated than that, it just comes and goes lately it..." He felt a small tingle in his spine and realized it was happening again. He grabbed the edge of the bed tightly, and in a moment, the shadow was cast by an actual figure, and Chris was in the room."Well that's better. A lot better actually." He extended his hand slightly eagerly, in hopes the other boy would shake it. He needed a better read on this thing's aura, so he could figure out just what he was dealing with. "I already told you my name. And you are?" He asked, somewhat impatiently. The bright lights in the room were really affecting his mood now that he had shifted back."They need a darn dimmer in here." He murmured to himself, shielding his eyes slightly.
marinalily • 2 July 2013 at 11:47 PM
@luv @dark_link @dragonii @unipeggirl @whitefireClive narrowed his eyes. This boy- Chris, was doing everything wrong. Even if he really was shrugging- the whole movement was very suspicious. Clive would've answered Chris' question about the animals, but the shadow-boy had continued talking as if he didn't expect an answer. Chris had tried to explain something that "came and went" before transforming into a boy, and against his reason, Clive still had some sick curiosity (could he even truly touch Chris'' hand?) that Clive grasped Chris' outstretched hand firmly. It was solid. Clive grinned. "I'm Clive Heraldi, brother to Mariel Heraldi, who also happens to go to this academy." He said. "It's a pleasure to meet you."
luv • 3 July 2013 at 9:30 AM
@marinalily @Dark_link @dragonii @unipeggirl @whitefireChris smiled when the other boy grasped his hand, which made the room seem a lot less hostile, but he made sure to keep eye contact. Any fool knew that looking down at the ground or over their head meant you were scared of them. And Chris certainly wasn't scared, but very intrigued."Pleasure to meet you too. I apologize for a rude entrance, but that wasn't exactly intended. The hallway lights are extremely bright, and I leaned against your doorway for a moment to shield my eyes... When I realized the doorway wasn't closed." Chris flashed the boy a wicked smirk, "Smart choice, not coming at me with whatever sharp knife you had. You seem to understand the fundamentals of reason, and at least you have common sense."Chris paused for a moment, hoping the boy was intelligent and mature enough to know that was a compliment. "Despite it being called 'common' sense, I have not met many who have it. Most slash directly at the shadow, when in reality, an invisible person now has access to the back of their neck, their spine, and various pressure points." Chris could remember all too many misguided shades who had met their demise that way.
marinalily • 3 July 2013 at 10:07 AM
@luv @dark_link @dragonii @unipeggirl @whitefire"Common sense would be more of my sister's department," Clive said with a laugh. "I've just had multiple years to perfect my craft." As much as Clive found the information about shadow-people interesting, did not know enough about Chris to draw conclusions. Clive was now genuinely curious, but also a bit cautious about this new guy. Clive had killed many beings; vampires, werewolves, and fey, but he had never killed a shadow before. What if he was a shape-shifter demon? Clive sat down on his bed with a thunk. "Alright," he said. "Story time. You tell me about you, I tell you about me." He smiled cryptically.
luv • 3 July 2013 at 5:49 PM
@marinalily @dark_link @dragonii @unipeggirl @whitefire Chris laughed, but documented in his mind an important fact. This thing had a sister. Chris quickly ran possibilities through his mind, something that was basically a game you play with yourself.1) Step-sister, not related and with no abilities like the other.2) Half-sister, with abilities.3) Half-sister, without abilities.4) Friend that he calls sister, with abilities5) Friend that he calls sister, without abilities.6) Sister, with or without abilities.7) Sis...Chris stopped himself. He was being ridiculous! There was millions of possibilities, and he was just going with caution. "Story time?" Chris sarcastically clapped like a three-year old. "It's rather simple for me. I'll be honest, but I don't know if you will. Oh well." Chris shrugged. "I'm a shadowhunter. I turn into a shadow to hunt down restless shades. Also known as demons/supernaturals. I can suck their, well, they don't really have souls if they're demons but you get the idea, and possess those souls, called 'released shades' at Midnight to have all their abilities." That was the fundamentals, at least."Your turn. Do we need a story-passing stick?" He asked with a smirk.
marinalily • 3 July 2013 at 6:24 PM
@luv @dark_link @dragonii @unipeggirl @whitefireClive groaned. "Now you're taking the joke too far," he admonished, but prepared to share his story all the same."I'm a.. well, there isn't a solid name for what we are, besides Heraldi, but nobody's heard of that- it's our last name." Clive sighed, as if it were a great deal to know the name of Heraldi. "So, a long, long time ago, there was this guy, Leon Heraldi. This was a while back, you see, and there were supernatural infestations everywhere. Not exactly a good thing. So Leon had spent his whole life trying many ways to find out how to keep the nasty ones at bay. Anyways, some angel, Ithuriel, either took pity on the guy, or came up with the idea to give him angelic powers, so he reached out his heavenly feathers and lightly brushed the man. And bam. Heightened abilities, magic, whatever. Heraldi blood is always dominant, so even if I decided to marry some mundane or vampire or something, which I would have to one day- I can't just marry my sister, as satisfactory as that may be, my children would have to kill rule-breakers as I do." He paused. "We're kind of like supernatural police," he mused. "Anyways. I haven't studied our records in a while- my sister has our copy of the book, thick and filled with her notes. That girl," he smiled fondly. "That girl could probably quote more than half of the book. It has everything- from our family tree to the spells we can access. It's a good reference book, but it's terribly boring." He lowered his eyes slyly. "Don't tell Mariel that. She'd whip me or something." He laughed. "Now that I think about it," he said slowly. "Our jobs are pretty alike."
luv • 3 July 2013 at 7:37 PM
@marinalily Chris almost shrugged again, but he'd been doing that a lot. "A conversation with no sarcasm is hardly a conversation at all." He shut up a moment later, and listened intently. "Oh thank gosh! That was driving me insane!" Chris exclaimed, sighing happily. He realized a moment later how utterly confusing that would be, so he elaborated a little. "I can see auras around people so I can determine who the shades/demons are. Y'know, colorful glows and stuff? You have one, but it's the faintest I've ever seen." He peered at Clive and was shocked all over again, it was nearly invisible. "But they don't brighten with strength, just the more supernatural you are, the brighter it is. Like the demons that don't even look remotely human or animal look are almost blinding." He tilted his head and looked at Clive again. "You're almost 99% human. But that's good. The more human you are, the less likely a demon will attack you on the job before provoked. Most of them won't be able to tell you're not a mundane, that is..." He grinned, "Until it's too late."When Clive mentioned their jobs, Chris thought about it carefully. "You're right. There's only one difference... You provoke and attack until one of you dies, and it's obviously never been you, and I sneak up and take advantage of them at their worst." Chris worried actually, about how cowardly he might seem compared to Clive. "I want to point out that I don't just sneak up and do the dirty work, I take them to the Shadowland and then I have to attack them there. That's my manly pride, so I'm not a total wimp." He grinned. Nothing like talking about a good fight between boys to brighten your spirits.
marinalily • 3 July 2013 at 9:33 PM
@luv @dark_link @dragonii @unipeggirl @whitefire"Uh, okay," Clive said slowly. "Looking at people's auras. Not creepy at all." He paused. "But at the same time, I understand that you enjoy basking in my glorious light. Feel free to do so once more." Clive grinned, flinging his arms out wide as if he could cast out more light by doing so. "But thank you for telling me about myself," Clive laughed. "I think I probably knew without the psychic reading that I'm mostly a human, but of course, extra verification is appreciated." Clive widened his eyes and gasped as if accused. "And I don't provoke-" He said, putting extra emphasis on the word 'provoke'. "If they just went about normally not killing anyone then they could've lived. But noooo. Idiots, all of them." Clive grinned. "Of course. Manly pride. Afraid of me calling you a coward, shadow boy?"

Dorm 5. A simple room that had all of the necessities, but nothing fancy. To Umberisk, it was perfect. Perfect, that is, unless she had to share it with somebody. She sighed with satisfaction. A place she could call her own with a door that locked, and no annoying little sisters! She dropped her weapon, a simple knife, on the floor with the plush wolf she carried around with her on her bed before trotting out the door, being careful to lock it. This accomplished, she morphed decisively into a wolf and dashed down the halls, making as much of a ruckus as she could. Hey, what's life without a little trouble-making?Her claws clicked across the marble floor, skidding a bit as she tore through the halls. A wild, wolfish grin had spread across her face, giving her a mad appearance although she was perfectly sane... almost.@Dark_Link@MarinaLilly@Luv@TheReturningOld@DragoniiHeheh.... I finally respond.
marinalily • 4 July 2013 at 4:29 PM
@luv @dark_link @dragonii @unipeggirl @whitefire Better late than never. 😸Mariel turned just in time to see a wolf heading right at her. Mariel quickly jumped away, snarling into a defensive crouch.Werewolf?Shapeshifter?Demon? It was certainly matched the sanity levels of the latter from what Mariel saw, and quickly reached over to grab the offending creature's ears. Years of training and experience had taught her to be fearless and quick, with no second thoughts about anything after she had set her mind to do it. And besides, Mariel hadn't broken any bones. Yet. Ears couldn't possibly be sore forever. Turning the wolf to face her and fingering the whip on her wrist, Mariel looked at the creature. She looked harmless enough, or at least as much as a wolf could be harmless. And what was she doing, running around like that? Somebody ought've leashed the poor thing. There were vampires roaming the halls. Or maybe even someone with a fetish for silver, be it that this thing was a werewolf. "You really have to be more careful," she drawled. "You wouldn't want to hurt anyone, would you?"
luv • 4 July 2013 at 4:38 PM
@marinalily @whitefire @dark_link @thereturningold @unipeggirl"What light?" He squinted mockingly. "Whatever dimmer they have on you they should put on the bleeding hall lamps!"Chris was about to make some other snide comment when he heard noise in the hallways, a long ways away. That was another shadow-boy thing, his hearing was crazy good. He melted into a shadow quickly and said, "C'mere angel-kid. I heard something down the hall. Claws. I'll find ways to insult you later."Chris opened the door, and mused about how weird it might seem for Clive to see a shadow leaving his room."Hurry up kissed-by-an-angel, I hear something by the girl's rooms and it ain't gonna wait for us." He muttered, already getting ready to face whatever lay ahead.
marinalily • 4 July 2013 at 4:59 PM
@luv @dark_link @dragonii @unipeggirl @whitefire"Pfft," Clive said. "I bet you just want to check out whatever poor chick that has just arrived." But nonetheless, he followed Chris outside, grumbling. "I think you've already insulted me enough, no need to find any more ways to do so. And did I mention how weird you are?"Going onwards towards the girl's dorms anyways, Clive stopped at the sight of Mariel grappling a wolf by the ears, and burst out laughing. Mariel just glared at him, then looked at the shadow that had no source, narrowing her eyes. Clive poked the shadow. "I know you're basking in my sister's beauty as well-" Then stopped. "Oh yeah, hi Mariel. This," he pointed at the shadow. "Is Chris. Chris, this is my sister Mariel."
whitefire • 4 July 2013 at 8:04 PM
"Let go of me," Umberisk snarled, the laughter dying from her eyes. "You know what? Fine. Play that way."And with that, she morphed into a Phoenix. Flames rolled off of her in waves, lending her a formidable appearance although they were, in reality, quite harmles. She unfurled her wings partway in a threat stance, ruffling up her feathers until she had the apparent size of a human."Can't grab my ears now, can you?"@MarinaLilly@LuvAh, childishness.
marinalily • 4 July 2013 at 8:42 PM
@luv @dark_link @dragonii @unipeggirl @whitefire IKR? I love it. xDD Beeteedubs, been here for two years. B) TAKE THAT @STATUS AND YES I'M OLD.It was a shapeshifter, Mariel knew that now. She was quite formidable in her pheonix form, and Mariel had always held a high esteem for pheonixes. They never really ever killed anyone, just regenerated over and over again. They didn't normally cause trouble. Then again, this wasn't a pheonix, it was a shapeshifter girl. Mariel smirked."Impressive show," she said, slowly twirling her whip from off her wrist where it sat, coiled like a snake. "And by the way, pheonixes, like birds, have ears that are holes on their heads, shapeshifter girl. I couldn't grab your ears if I tried." Mariel pulled her whip back into it's coils on her wrist. "I assume you're going to this academy." She said slowly. "There's probably some rule about not killing other students. Although I'd say my reaction was definitely not unprovoked. Be careful next time." Mariel was now deadly calm, ignoring the two boys behind her and adressing the shapeshifter girl.

"Whatever," Umberisk said, morphing back into a wolf. She flicked her spare tail in annoyance, accidentally creating a hole in the wall. She winced at the unexpected crash, but quickly stood straight again. "I was trying to cause a ruckus. I enjoy mayhem. It's fun." With that, she changed forms fluidly a total of seven times; cat, fox, human, a small dragon, griffin, and wolf, and stalked off in the direction of her dorm, lashing her whip-like tail agitatedly.@MarinaLilly@Luv
marinalily • 4 July 2013 at 11:50 PM
@luv @dark_link @dragonii @unipeggirl @whitefireMariel smirked. But then on second thought- if she was only friends with boys in this school (noting the two behind her) Mariel knew that wouldn't be good for her reputation at all. And even though she was better with guys then girls- she could change that. Probably. It would take a while, judging from the earlier experience. Mariel dashed over to the hole in the wall, and waving her hands over it, used a quick repair spell so that the boards changed and melted back into their original state. After all, she didn't want to be caught destroying school property on the first day, even though it wasn't her that did so."Umm," she called out, trying. She wasn't as good with other girls as she was with possible threats. "I fixed the wall..? And uh, I'm sorry for overreacting- I've just grown up reacting to things trying to kill me all the time.." She trailed off as she heard Clive's stifled laughs.

"No problem," Umberisk called over her shoulder as she turned around. "I'm used to being hit on sight, or called stupid, or ugly, or having people try to hurt me indirectly, so your behaviour was a refreshing change. And thanks for fixing the wall; I don't exactly have any magic."@Luv@MarinaLillyI'm just amazed that I managed to stay here for a year. .3. That," she said, "was pretty cool." Mariel smiled, trying hard to actually get along with the other girl. "Oh, and this is my brother, and his imaginary friend or something." She turned around with a grin at the two boys, more at ease now then she was facing off with the phoenix.
whitefire • 5 July 2013 at 12:58 AM
@MarinaLillyThanks. I'm actually going to a different school next year, so no more harsh words! And yeah, I'm mainly oblivious to whatever they say now. It makes me sad that they want to hurt my feelings and sadder that they won't come out and say it, but *what* they say doesn't really affect me. Well, what I said earlier's not true; I've been bullied since Kindergarten but my grades only started dropping in fifth grade. So I'm probably not that resistant. 😋@LuvUmberisk laughed. "Yes, 'imaginary friends.' I had a whole hoard of those until I left home and Them." She morphed into human form and lashed her remaining tail."This," she said, grabbing it and letting it slide through her hands, "is probably the reason why I had to make them in the first place."
