@luv @dark_link @dragonii @unipeggirl @whitefire YUS YOU ARE! I AM PROUD OF YOU! And I'm sorry if sometimes I sound weird- my brain processes and corrects before I can type. |D

Mariel hardly batted an eye. "At least you don't look like any of the demon's I've killed," she said plainly, without infliction. "They were a sight to behold."
Mariel suddenly realized a sickening fact.
"We haven't introduced! I'm so sorry!" She grimaced at herself. "I'm Mariel Heraldi. I've introduced my brother. You are?"

"Umberisk," Umberisk replied. "And I can look fiercer if I tried."
She morphed fluidly into a wolf. Then, concentrating hard on feelings of anger she could barely remember, recalling the desire to kill, she changed form even further. Her fur turned jet-black, and her blue patches grew bloodred. Her tail-tip spiked outward, turning crimson as well. Torn black bat-wings sprouted with a loud ripping sound from her shoulders, parting her fur. Fangs protruded from her mouth, as long as those of the ancient saber-toothed tigers. She grew to the height of a human, a truly formidable sight. Her eyes snapped open. They, too, were bloodred.
"And it's worse when I battle."

@MarinaLilly
You don't sound weird at all! Actually, you type a lot better than some other people I've seen around here XD

@luv @dark_link @dragonii @unipeggirl @whitefire Well thank you- and my apologies for anything if it happens. Sometimes I type something and realize it doesn't work out then change it and it looks weirder. O_O

Mariel watched the girl with her eyes narrowed. "You could possibly, maybe, pass for a demon." She said. "That could either be good or bad." In truth, Mariel wasn't afraid, but the girl was trying, and Mariel didn't want to be mean. But truth was, once you see demons hacked into pieces, not much scared nor disgusted her at all. But it was true- Umberisk could look like a demon if she wanted to.

Umberisk laughed a bit. "I don't want to look like a demon; I just want to be able to scare people off when I want to, which I think this accomplishes. I'm not concerned about demon hunters; just normal people. So it serves its purpose well."

@MarinaLilly

Mariel was surprised. "Our lives.." she mused, "are very different." She laughed. "But honestly, normal people?" She snapped her whip in the air for emphasis, then coiled it back around her wrist carefully. After all, it was her favourite weapon. "They're scared of everything. You'll have no trouble at all."

Chris was having a ball with the fact that the girls were having a conversation and he was still right there. After all, he was the "imaginary friend." Or at least they assumed, he was grinning ear to ear at the thought of how real his powers truly were.

Now he wasn't just mindlessly spying, he was actually doing his job. Ever since the shapeshifter said she wanted to cause trouble he had been paying attention, but now the conversation had taken a boring turn, they were talking about humans.

They were actually talking about scaring humans, which might mean revealing powers. Whoever this Umberisk girl was, she was certainly making a bad impression on Chris.

Finally, he decided to speak up. "Hate to interrupt your lovely conversation, but I thought now was as good a time as any to say that I'm actually NOT at all imaginary."

"If you hate to interrupt, don't do it," Umberisk responded smoothly upon regaining her normal, human form. "And obviously you're not imaginary. Do imaginary friends cast shadows? I may be twelve, but I'm not stupid."

QUICKLY, FLOCK OVER HERE!

Chris appeared quickly, wincing in the light. "Well, I couldn't just continue seemingly spying on you forever, that would've been rude." He grinned jokingly. "I had to butt in sometime." He shrugged, but the smirk was still evident on his face.

"Hey, you never know in a place like this. And I was never implying you were." Chris said, watching both girls closely. "I'm Chris, by the way." He reached out one hand to each girl for them to shake. So, one was Clive's sister? He could see the resemblance, and the similar aura, except her height was a lot shorter than him and Clive.

The other one, Umberisk, seemed to have a tail no matter what form she took, something to take note of.

"Maaarrieel!" Clive groaned. "Not now!" He said. Then lowered his voice. "Nor ever." He muttered. Mariel laughed at her brother, watching his face redden.

HECK YES! XD HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! When Chris touches Mariel's arm in a moment, she should be all blushing and smiling for a reason she doesn't really understand. xD
@whitefire
Hey no problem! I'm the worst at this when it comes to replying at a good time.

Chris widened his eyes in mock surprise at Clive's reaction, and put his hand on Mariel's arm, leaning in close to her ear and whispering, "I'd love to hear whatever you were about to say that's turned him scarlet." He lingered for a second then pulled back, before turning to a shadow in surprise of something he'd never realized.

He turned back quickly, his shoulders hunched and blushing slightly pink. He had never realized it until now, but that was why all his ex-girlfriends must have broken up with him. He was just being himself, yet after years he'd finally noticed. Maybe it was the fact that Clive was right there, and Umberisk, or the fact that he'd just noticed that Mariel was pretty, but that looked like an extremely flirty move, what he'd just done. Unintentionally, of course, but there it was all the same.

He was grateful when Umberisk spoke, because his quick flash into a shadow and back would likely not go unnoticed, and he was sure Clive would have something to say about what he just did, but if he kept the conversation going he might get himself into the clear. "Yes, but it's always polite to act as though you weren't spying." He said teasingly. "Nice to meet you too." He smiled, praying he'd be able to get the conversation back on track and focused on someone else.

@luv @whitefire

Well that certainly left Clive in a terrible mood. "What did you just do to my sister?" He said, his voice low. "And why did you just turn into a shadow?" A realization dawned on him, and Clive raised his voice to a high pitch. "Are you bluuusshing? Isn't she preetty? Do you wanna kiiss her?" He frowned. Somehow that had turned out more as a threatening bunch of questions than a joke.

Mariel stood there, frozen, not really paying attention to the converdation. She could feel blood rushing into her cheeks, and she could feel her lips turned upwards in a smile. What was she doing? She quickly rearranged her features into a scowl, which certainly described her thought process at the moment. Why was she blushing? Was it because of Chris, that shadow boy? Sure, he was good looking, but plenty of the things she had, as Clive put it, "utilized her feminine wiles" on were just as pleasing to the eye, if not better. And what was up with him turning into a shadow all the time? If he were going to fight someone he just met and he turned into a shadow before it even happened, that wouldn't help at all. Mariel fingered her whip in a habitual gesture she often didn't know she was doing, frowning. Maybe she should just kill him.

Umberisk, of course, was not at all surprised by what Chris had just done. She'd seen worse with her colleagues... who were the same age as her. Anyways, that could be passed off as a friendly gesture, if the other Heraldi kid decided to get protective.
"Umm..." Umberisk broke in, not sure what to say. "Should I leave?" She desperately wanted to get them to stop fighting before somebody got hurt. At this point, everybody was blushing. 'How do I deal with this...?!'

And Chris thought he was blushing before. The brunette blinked his green eyes a couple times before Clive's words sunk in and he scrambled for an excuse. "I.... What? No it isn't that... It's just, I was surprised and it wasn't intentional, the uh shadow thing..." He was slurring his words and couldn't get his point across.

"Look, I just realized something everyone used to point out to me is true. That's all." Chris breathed a sigh of relief. Finally he was able to say it. Now why was Mariel blushing?

Chris looked at Umberisk in surprise. "So you're fine with running down the halls as a wolf and Phoenix but you're embarrassed and want to leave now? Stay, I don't think Clive will keep embarrassing us, particularly if his sister shares whatever she was about to." Chris gave Mariel a look that said, 'you better help me or we're both in trouble with your brother'.

Mariel scowled, but complied. "So when we were six, I used to have this friend that I would always play with, and Clive, being the poor unfortunate-"
"Fine, fine!" Clive said, throwing his hands up. "I'll shut up!" He promptly shut his mouth closed, but started talking to Mariel in his head, giving out flashes of signals. Mariel groaned. "Clive, that does not count as shutting up." She ran her hands through her hair and pinched the bridge of her nose, as though she had a headache. "Please get out of my head. Just because everyone else can't hear you.." Mariel sighed. "So, being the poor, unfortunate soul Clive was.. thank you. I'll stop now."
"Thank goodness." Clive muttered.

As Caris continued to wander the halls, she began to get a feel for what was off limits and what wasn't. It was actually quite easy. Whatever areas gave her a strange feeling in her gut, she didn't go. With a deep breath, she began to search for others, wondering who else went to this place.

Name: she doesn't have one. 😋
Gender: female
Age: approximately 16
Species: fox spirit (not quite a kitsune)
Appearance:
Human-- She has beautiful creamy white hair that only reaches her shoulder at the front, and grows shorter towards the back. Two imperceptibly pale gray fox ears poke out of it, coupled with a tail of the same colour. She has fair skin. A loose wire-thin necklace falls onto her chest, ending with the small fang of a young dragon. She typically wears black dress-clothes type garments, which contradicts her entire nature and appearance. She carries around her dragon-fang sword in its sheathe, ready to attack if and when necessary. Her eyes are a deep, beautiful red that gives no hints as to the personality it conceals.
Fox-- She adorns herself with the skull of a young dragon, presumably that of the dragon whose fang she wears as a necklace (which she still wears in this form). Her fur is a gray so pale that it's almost imperceptible. Her eye colour remains the same.
Personality: She is surrounded by an air of suffocating calm, which leads others to anger more quickly. She is fair-tempered and peaceable, and remarkably slow to anger. Although she is impenetrable herself, she can read others like a book, and she uses this skill. She often tries to break up fights, which usually leads to her being resented--not a problem for her, as she tends to avoid others. She doesn't know anything about herself, but she "collects" the knowledge of others, thus enabling her to find the demons she took it upon herself to slay swiftly. She is skilled with words, and is a natural-born leader... If only she would use that!
Dorm: 6
Other: Since nobody really knows anything about her, they have a lot of rumours about her, and sometimes call her Rumour. She has other "names" too, like The Peacemaker. I'd like it if the other characters here would come up with more names and rumours for her, too!

When you read the last paragraph of my reply... Bring on the blush, Mariel! xD

Chris grinned, but it quickly fell off his face as he realized the two had telepathic communication. He hadn't realized their powers stretched that far. He looked back and forth between Mariel and Clive several times before inwardly letting out a sigh. More stuff to consider.

He looked, really looked, at Mariel, and tried to see her, not just notice her the way he normally saw girls. She was pretty, but that wasn't what he was looking for. There was something about her, he'd say the word "aura" but it was just too literal for him. Something in his mind seemed to be screaming, 'Get to know her, you won't regret it!'

He knew that Clive was standing in front of him, but how much could he do behind his back without her alerting Clive, either intentionally or unintentionally? Well, life was about risks, so he risked it a little. He smiled at Mariel from behind Clive's head and winked at her, in hopefully not a very flirtatious way, but he had a feeling it would be taken as crazily flirtatious. That just seemed to be his luck. He mouthed the words, "I wanna hear that story later." Before watching for a reaction.

Mariel was positively glowering. The blood just didn't seem to leave her face in the last few minutes. Scowling, she snapped her whip a few inches away from Chris' face and retreated to her room, although she had no idea what she would do there. Probably read the Heraldi book again. Throwing an indignant "Leave me alone!" past her shoulder, she closed the door, not bothering to block her flustered thoughts from escaping her head.

Umberisk watched as Mariel departed, confused.
"Well, I think I'll go on as well," she stated, turning to head back to her room. She had a feeling that this would get bad soon.
Upon arriving, she turned on her iPad and sorted through her music selection before playing World's End Dancehall. She lied down on her bed while she listened to it playing, feeling the song course through her, giving her energy. She didn't really feel like sleeping, but she didn't feel like doing much else either. She sighed and rolled over. She supposed she shouldn't have left the two boys to fight, but she wasn't any good in situations like that, and besides, what did she have to do with it? It wasn't like she was related to Mariel or Chris. Oh well, hopefully they could sort it out like civilized human--or not so human--beings.

Chris was shocked by the reaction, but he stood his ground, walking forward so he was facing Clive and wondering what the boy would say. He had nothing to hide. Smiling and winking had never been a crime, and he wasn't trying to be flirty. The fact that she'd flicked her whip at him just made him believe she might be slightly unstable.

He hadn't expected her to react like that, but he still had his excuses. He was just joking, etc. Still, there was a small and impossible to explain pain in his heart, like he'd just been rejected. He tried to ignore it, and got ready for something that might be worse. He had a feeling Clive would think he threatened Mariel or something, based on her reaction, and he figured that Clive might try and attack him for that.

He refused to turn into a shadow. He was going to stand in front of Clive and use no advantages, but he didn't know what he would do if Clive attacked him. Honestly, he would have to protect himself, and if Clive got vicious enough he might have to take the boy to the Shadowland to straighten him out.

"You still there?" Chris asked teasingly, waving his hand in front of Clive and hoping that the inevitable wouldn't involve anyone getting severely hurt.

Clive scowled. Something was going on over his head. And what was Mariel doing blushing, of all things? Mariel never blushed- and she never lost her calm. What was going on? Why was she flustered? Mariel never was flustered either. Once again, Clive felt like he was six when Mariel and her friend had tons of inside jokes they refused to share. "What did you do?" Then he paused. "I can't believe I'm asking you this, but how did you crack her? I've been trying to do that for years. Only succeeded once." He watched her retreating figure. "And no, she doesn't normally act like that. She's perfectly sane. So normally, I'd be beating you up, but I am very intrigued."

Chris listened carefully to Clive. He actually seemed kind of surprised. Well that made two of them. Chris had no idea what he'd done to offend her so much. When Clive finished talking Chris thought for a moment, but couldn't really figure it out. He honestly couldn't really comprehend what he'd done to her.

Chris considered lying, but she'd probably just tell him later. "I smiled and winked at her, and asked if she could tell me what sounded like it was going to be a potentially embarrassing story about you." That was the whole truth, but he neglected to mention that it probably seemed flirty.

"Please don't try. I do not want to bring you to the Shadowland. Trust me, not a nice place." Chris smiled sort of grimly. "Does you sister have some problem with extremely attractive men like me?" Chris asked, striking some sort of pose. "I get that I'm drop-dead attractive, but seriously, most girls can control themselves." He smirked evilly.

"You winked. And smiled." Clive said slowly, choosing to ignore the story part. "And she just exploded." Clive raised his eyebrows. This was not like Mariel. At all. Mariel never- you know what, Mariel was proving a lot of nevers were true today. "I think that you might want to lock your door tonight, she might come and put poison in your toothpaste or something." He said, deadpan. "Or she would stab you. But that would mean she would have to cancel our, ah, outing tonight. So I should be able to give your fair warning." He blinked at Chris' pose.
"Pshaw," Clive said. "I'm more attractive than you any day. At least I don't cause girls to run away from me."

"Good to know. Don't want poisoned toothpaste." He scoffed but did remain alert. He can't have offended her that much, could he have?

He was about to respond with snark to the more attractive comment when a girl showed up behind them. Chris looked at her with a confused expression, before realizing what she might be asking. "If you mean the girls dorms, yes you're in the right place." To try and show Clive that he hadn't been flirting with his sister, he said something that could also be taken as flirty to the new girl, but in a joking way, not at all a flirting way.

"If you're wondering what one extremely attractive man and one... mehh, above average man are doing here, we were talking to girls before the above average man," He pointed to Clive, "Scared them all away."

"Hey!" Clive said. "At least I can smile and wink at girls without them running away and exploding." But inside, Clive was thinking. Chris couldn't be good for Mariel at all. If he would flirt or be almost flirty to any other girl he sees- no, Clive couldn't let that happen. This was just another player. He didn't feel anything towards Clive's sister at all. Clive would have to talk to Mariel later on. "Come on," Clive said. "We should be going anyways, Chris. Wouldn't want to get into trouble." He paused. "Well, I can't speak for you, but I have places to go, things to kill. Let's go." He walked off into the direction of the boy's dorms.

Caris snickered and turned to head back to her dorm, satisifed with her findings during the time she wandered. It was going to take a while for the elf to adjust to being around so many beings, but she would have to unless merely leaving was a realistic option. Which, to her, it wasn't.
